there is something more dangerous lurking...

In Reply to: Not all of us know the answer, either, but you are - so right in the problems you

and the founder of the original AAMT has a hand in it but I have yet to determine if there will be a place for us or not -

standardized dictation, pretexted format, no more verbal dictation...

I am aware the last few years anyway this is in the works and it may even perhaps be how med students are being taught now, relearning the whole dictation thing.

what I cannot figure out is will this keep us involved or completely make us insignificant?

I would like to get your thoughts on this...

dangers lurking
When I entered the profession in 1976, there were rumors that profession would be ending.

If I remember correctly, JCAHO doesn't allow for 100% canned text, but there are programs developed and being developed that create a record with zero secondary input.

While I realize it's your job that is being replaced, is it at all logical to think PROGRESS isn't going to find a way to do it faster, cheaper? (The third option being better and I've seen some programs that are far better than many MTs, but there are MANY other MTs who CAN produce a perfect document so they will always be exceptional in my book.)

This war against wages isn't likely to go any where. Companies that pay crap need to employ the crap MTs or the MTs who are not in that category need to say no and find better work. The ratio of online MTs to nationwide MTs is rather low. There are MTs out there who work in their local hospital for $18-20+ an hour with benefits and PTO and are quite happy with that.

When you get everyone stirred up with union or whatever word you want to use, it does little more than create a flurry of emotional outpouring and it eventually settles down into the realization that a union isn't the answer. A personal values stance, refusing to work for low wages will take you a lot further down the road.

BTW, Cbay pays $1.50/page on some of their accounts. In fact, my experience has shown Cbay is much more appreciative of the MT than many other companies.
With all the variables as to what could be lurking
that dictated minute, your guess is as good as mine. Do you have an offer? If so, what is it? Is this for an IC job? PT? FT? No real way of knowing uness you take the plunge, do the dictation and see what you come out of it with. IMO, sounds like more smoke and mirrors.
Who are you to say something like that? Maybe you're Webmedx mgmt lurking, another thing that mak
Work is very, very low at Webmedx and there should not be a reason for it.
Yes, and if you're an IC, it's dangerous to only rely on one - nm

Wonder why that is? A dangerous site? Has spyware?

Right and offshore is a dangerous option
Dangerous to confidentiality. Yes, they may try it but it is failed miserably as we now know.
p.o. is NOT a JCAHO dangerous abbrevation...Please read (SM)...
As you know (Lillybelle), your QA person is *INCORRECT*. Here is the link to JCAHO's dangerous abbrevation/do not use list, and p.o. is not one of them. Knowledge is power!

Hope this helps...

question about testing and dangerous abbreviations

I have tested for a new job and typed the two reports verbatim, leaving in dangerous abbreviations. Some companies allow some abbreviations and others don't.  Not knowing what their particular choices are, I just typed them verbatim.  I figure if I get the job, they will give me a list of abbreviations not to use.

Was that the correct thing to do, or should I have let them know by editing the report that I am aware of what is consider dangerous in some instances?

Your thoughts are welcome and may be helpful to others yet to test.

Thank you.

Google has them listed as a dangerous website.

I found a temporary homepage at another link when I Googled, but that's as far as I could get without the Google page to beware if you continue.

Agree, scary.. and dangerous. Glad I have tons of
