The above is what I am saying, not assuming like me2 and tm
Thanks so much for your post. A lot of the people posting against me are not really understanding what I am saying. Your post said exactly what I was writing in the first place. People who assume that I have not ever worked out of my home and I work now in the home because I wanted to are sooooooo wrong. I spent 45 years working inhouse, not only working away from my home but also taking children back and forth to various daycares, sitters and the like. We were sent home from the transcription dept, not by choice, but because the hospital wanted to enlarge and they wanted our place. Before speaking, you should really think about things because when you assume you are usually wrong, as in this case. I have children I raised and are out on their own now and have grandchildren. No, I don't like housework and I don't have to do it either as I have a housekeeper. Just my husband, pets and myself but I have a really big home and being as my husband is a chef, don't even do that. Own rental property, sold a home last year, debt free and take really wonderful vacations. I work part-time, hubby said could retire if I want to but enjoy my work as I have a strong work ethic, unlike, like I will say again, a lot of the posts I read on this. I have spent my time out from the house working but these oh, woe is me attitudes just make me want to think what in the world is the matter with these people. I will say once more, if they had to hold down a job away from their home, would never be able to make it, too many home items they have to take care of. Not professional when you have to worry about the baby diapers and what am I having for dinner (at work no less)! The problem with most that I am reading is they have never had to work at a real outside job. Probably better for them, wouldn't make it.
you are assuming...
I am not seeking revenge - we are not talking about sporned lovers or cheating business partners. I am seeking prevention of worse crime of all - crime against defenseless, innocent victims. You mention Easter; then lets at least agree on An Eye For An Eye - hit this human again and again, day after day, until his ribs are broken...however, this human can pick up the phone and get treatment for himself; the child and animal cannot, they can only suffer without understanding, and so this is not prevention enough and this human needs to be put away permanently.
Let's see, not assuming your age...
I bet you screamed at The Beatles when they were popular, and yet all on drugs! Give me a break! If those are your qualifications, then The Beatles are horrible role models....jeepers....

P.S. Insert whichever band you like, if Beatles are the wrong era. The point has been made.
Assuming once again and once again
have no earthly idea about what you are talking about. I had no idea I am supposed to feel safer. I can leave my doors unlocked because I am safer here than most folks. How crazy sounding is that? I moved in and had carpet but immediately set forth having my house tiled throughout. Oh gosh, was I supposed to ask someone about that before I did? Oops. I did not even ask their opinion. Sorry, will ask 2 times next time I decide to do that. I have a stand alone home. Maybe the fact you lived in a condo hooked on side by side was the reason they all looked alike. My community looks a lot different and I love the fact of speaking to the other neighbors when I want, not having them at my home 24/7. What is that about a fence and good neighbors? We have invisible fences. Five years here and counting. Best place I have ever lived. Sorry you had such a box of a place to live.
That's assuming they want them
If the other Jacksons want them and love them, fine. Or maybe they're not thrilled with the idea of raising some little white kids who they're not even related to.

Why is there so much assuming on this board
because once you assume you know what you are talking about, usually wrong as you are in this case. I took in my stepgrandchildren, 3 of them, 8, 13 and 15 and raised them for 3 years. Their mother on crack, their father in prison and they went around their real grandmother's home and she sold dope and illegal alcohol from her home. I went to their school, middle and grammer, endlessly. I saw things I never saw as I was growing up, so disrespectful to authority figures. The mother took son to crack house with her, kids lucky to eat 1 meal a day when not living with me. So instead of telling me I don't know, think I have probably lived it. I doubt all the kids getting the diagnosis of attention deficit really fit that category. Oh, tell me I don't know about that either, not so because a neighbor of mine used to get a check and had her son diagnosed just to get a check. Get your head out of the sand.
You are assuming I am atheist...I am not.
You think lightning bolts will strike me??? LOLOLOLOLOLOL!
SHE?...poster was right on the assuming

I am not too far away, PAMT, assuming that's PA.
I should come with you! lol
Why so hostile? I am not assuming anything
Just asking for opinions that are based on the assumption that it is true. I was getting more responses wanting to know where I got the story and, no offense to anyone intended, but that is not what I needed or asked for, so I tried to politely redirect. Not looking for hostility either.
You are really assuming she has the ability
to speak English first, right? The person I know that gets welfare and section 8 could not construct a sentence. I think any single person who strives to have a gaggle like that has really some deep emotional problem going on.
Quit assuming...
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Assuming she has a newer TV
Aren't we supposed to switch to that 'all digital' thing sometime this month? I don't know what exactly that means to the average TV set. Is it as simple as the type of connection your antenna makes; i.e., coaxial cable, wires and screws, analog?
Since it is a small dog, assuming it's healthy,
it actually should not be hard to place. Do contact rescues in your area if you don't have a network of dog-loving people you really know well. Also vets' offices. See if they will put up signs. Sometimes when people lose a pet, they want to get a nice adult dog fast so they won't be alone.
I'm also in NC, and I know a woman who wants a small dog. She's in her 50s, either divored or widowed, needs a small, clean, adult dog that's already trained and won't cost her a fortune. Look for somebody like that.
That is just wrong. You are assuming these people were going sm
to do the right thing - and what makes you think they would? the dog should have been impounded, they should have contacted the hospital for payment information - did they? No. The victim has to pay or her credit is screwed. Her insurance could refuse to pay - they could investigate the dog bite and see who the culprit was - but they choose to pay - so not fraudulent. The people have not done anything it sounds like and now you are very quick to jump on this mom who obviously made a few mistakes and just wants to know what to do next to correct them. Wow.
People, you just got to quit assuming!
I am born and raised in the south. I live in Georgia now and have for the past 40 something years. I do not eat crawfish, never. I eat ice cream and never heard the term "wet nuts" is that a term for boiled peanuts? If so, never had those either. I do not eat things like squirrel, rabbit and the like. In my home we cook with olive oil (never lard or grease), do not use flour in any cooking, don't even have it in our home, do not eat fast food items. At home we lean towards Italian dishes, husband makes a wonderful salad dressing with garlic, olive oil, herbs and the like and also makes a mean spaghetti. I love stromboli and love olives (remember I am a true Southern girl). Why in the world people assume because you were born or live in a certain part of the country means you are this way or that, I will never know. When you assume you are generally wrong. I learned that years ago and the posting above fits that category.
Assuming- everyone's credit is poor?
Where in the world do you get that idea from? Quit assuming because when you do you are usually wrong- case in point. My credit is excellent and has been for years and years.
Told you about assuming. Said I should have bought. It was a gift and
my mother always said "don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Tsk, tsk.
Assuming your daughter is an adult, why make a difference?
a gift in return. If everyone is going to be together when gifts are exchanged, then I get them a little something, even if its a wal-mart gift card.

If they will not be there when you give your daughter and SIL a gift, then I guess you could skip them.

My true opinion is that adults, other than spouse and SO - do not need gifts. We do not buy the adult gifts in our family, but we have a big get together at our house and provide all the fixings and such, that is our gift.
My son had this happen to him, as well--sm
and he did report it to the bank. however, he only got half of his money back (I don't know why) even though the woman who stole his cc# was caught. I had the same bank as he did and apparently they told him they would only reimburse half of the charges. To this day, he will not buy items on line.
me too but I don't think that's going to happen...sm

GOP-democratic ongoing battle will make it political, but if WE can resist all that.....it would be good.

Just as an aside, us older MTs...are really going to be the largest senior group ever.......in the USA - something like 70+ million - and we, politically, are a HUGE voice (in numbers)....so I still believe WE CAN change the world.......that we CAN make the difference.

just as I believed 40 years ago too.......

perhaps I'm deluded.....*winks*

sure hope not......

p.s.  please don't burst my bubble....

Did this happen already?
I'm watching CNN and they haven't mentioned it. They just have a message up saying that Judge to decide if Paris Hilton goes back to jail. She isn't even at the courthouse yet. The Sheriff are picking her up at her house. I definitely think she needs to go back to jail no question about it.
Happen to be in
or is this something happening all over Indiana, thanks to our MITCH????
He does not ALLOW it to happen...
We are humans, with minds of our own, allowed to make choices. We're not puppets on a string being guided around. Come on now, you can't be that unschooled in the Bible. It's unfortunate that bad things and abuse and so forth happens in this world, but it does...and it's because there are so many nonbelievers and so much evil...God wants us to come to Him. He's not going to force Himself on anyone.
Having same happen to me
Gosh I love these fuzzies but shocked every time I pet them, etc. but that is just the tip of the iceberg- getting shocked from clothing, coats, blankets, etc. etc. Does anyone have a good idea how to stop some of this- and no, I will not get rid of the fuzzies.
You could have this happen to you sm

where you disconnected from someone because of something petty (shower) and then when you really had time to look back on it and put it into perspective, along with putting yourself in her situation, you realize that you miss your friend and try to reconnect.

When you do, you find out she actually died a year before.  Think about that before you make a decision to end the friendship.  I wish I had.

I can see how it could happen
Years ago, I went for an upper GI. The tech came in right before the test to ask if I had done the bowel prep. They were preparing to do a barium enema instead of an upper GI. It was a good thing I was in the medical field and knew exactly what test I was having and why.
I agree that it must happen a lot..sm

A few years back I had an ink cartridge that I wanted to return because I had grabbed the wrong one.  The Walmart wouldn't take it back.  For that store anyways, it was their policy not to accept ink cartridges in return for that very reason.  They told me that I wouldn't even believe how many they get back and are actually empty.  I was told that I needed to send it back to the company for whatever brand it was.

I believed what they said because at that time my husband was a manager there.

When they do inventory it takes them like a month to do it, and you wouldn't believe sometimes how much money and merchandise is unaccounted for, not just easily concealable things either.   No way to know how much of it was really stolen, but I would bet a good portion of it.

I'm sure they'll take back your cartridge.  If you can't find your receipt, they will probably just give you a gift card figuring that if by chance you didn't get that cartridge there, at least they know you have to spend that gift card at a Walmart.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll tell you exactly what will happen.
If you don't buy it, everything will break. If you buy it, everything will break right after it runs out. lol. I bought a blazer a couple years ago, bought an extended warrantly and literally a month after it ran out my fuel pump burned up, some motor for my blinker burned out, had to get a new alternator, new battery, new tires (due to neighborhood felon in the making), driver side viser broke...I think there was more but I can't remember at the moment.

Anyhoo, good luck! :-)
i expected this probably would happen, but not yet.
I feel for her baby growing up without her mom and for her mother, who i'm sure always had hope that "vicki lynn" would come out of this downward spiral before it was too late. It's tragic all the way around. I would love to know if mr. lawyer is really innocent of all this too.
did these happen at once or different times? nm

I can only imagine what would happen
to all the animals that would not be adopted because the owners could not afford health insurance. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, all adopted from shelters. We don't have insurance on them but isn't them living in a loving home a better alternqative then what might have happened to them?
Gee. I knew that would happen! LOL!

Know things happen but.....
I can relate to what you say; however when my own father asked me to move in with him (close to age 90) I refused to do that. I visited, had seen him growing up (parents divorced) but I would never ruin my life moving in with him as life would have been hel* for me, overbearing, rude, constantly belittled me in front of others (weight issue he had with me) and generally not the kind of person I would care to live with. However, this is what I did and he could take or leave it. He lived close by in another state and I told him I would get any assistance he could use be it Meals on Wheels, rides to and from appointments, just anything. It was up to him if he wanted or not. I did not care norr do I care now what anyone would think about this situation. My maternal aunt (who knew my father very, very well) said he had lived his life, now I should live mine. I am not throwing away my happiness to satisfy someone else. Now, if he had been a kind, understanding, loving father he could have possibly (and that is not a sure thing) moved in with ME but definitely not giving up my home, etc. to have lived with him.
What's the worst that can happen; you buy a new one?
I have heard people clean them by running them under the shower and letting them dry in the warm outside air. I'm going to try it, I have a backup cheapie to use if it gets ruined and I have to buy a new one.
Would you happen to be a male
Because any female knows how hard it is to go to school while having your period, especially having your FIRST period. And the thought of her using a tampon at that age I am sure freaks the poor child out. My DD is 17 and she still doesn't use tampons. I never used them until I had my 3rd child, over the age of 30. Only a male (I hope) would make such an uneducated response...more power to ya Mom, stick up for your DD 100%... the teacher was absolutely wrong in the way this situation was handled and should be confronted about it...good luck!
Yes, my mother had this happen. sm
I think she was in her 40s, can't remember exactly. She said it was the worst headache and vomiting ever. Her's also was a small bleed, such a small aneurysm that when it burst that was the end of the aneurysm. She recovered fully and if I remember right she was only in the hospital for a week or so.
It's not uncommon for this to happen, (sm)
and it suggests you are headed for reading glasses. The first indication will be that your focus change slows down because the lens is getting stiffer with age. This slowing started to happen to me about 2 years ago, and I started taking the eye supplement, lutein. It is described as a supplement for eye health, and I decided to take it because it's supposed to help avoid macular degeneration. But would you believe that slowing of my focus problem WENT AWAY completely? I am still not in reading glasses and have no trouble with my focus as long as I take lutein. This would be the time for you to start it to keep you out of bifocals for as long as possible.
I'm curious - how did that happen? - sm
I recently got pet health insurance for my cats, and notice that one of the things NOT covered is ACL injuries. Never heard of it in a cat before, but sometimes in dogs. Did she jump from something high? Is it in a back or a front leg?
You know what will happen if we all quit
There will have to be money coming from somewhere to replace the tax revenue lost if all of us wicked smokers just up and quit (or died, whichever!). They already decided we could do without the transfats and took those away from our McFrys; Salmonella risk caused many places to get rid of genuine cesar salads because of the raw eggs; and some places have banned pate. They may start slowly hitting the US consumer with a Twinkie tax- $1/pack, $10/carton. Those McFrys, even without the transfat we knew and loved) will have a $0.10 surcharge each (eek, I can't afford to supersize anymore), and I'm afraid that it will take a mortgage if I want to get that Chantilly Lace cake from the bakery.

Fat people and smokers- the last two groups that it's okay to make fun of in this country, and dang if I ain't both!
You wouldn't happen to be a bio-mom would you???
That sure would explain a lot of your behavior and comments.

The OP is doing nothing wrong by wanting a FAMILY and not a part-time husband. Leave her alone.
I've had this happen before and it is usually
when there is fluid behind my eardrum.  Usually no cold associated with it.  It sounds like a bee buzzing in my ear.
The point is this should NOT happen every day -
The fact that some people think this is okay is why a lot of these kids are so out of control. Do you want everyone to wait to take action until it's a 6:00 news story??? When I was in school this would not have been a big deal, and worked out between kids/parents. Unfortunately we live in a world today where kids do not seem to have morals or consciences and do not think twice about hurting another person because they were "mad". IMO the only way to change that is to STOP making it okay.
Yes, I've had this happen too, sm

As my allergies have gotten worse over the years, I have been pulling up the carpet throughout my house and yuck, nasty!  I would love to put wood floors throughout, but cannot afford it.  In the fall, my sinuses are even worse.  I can't dust or vacuum, make the kids or DH do it.

To get rid of the drainage, you have to dry up your sinuses.  I personally use Zyrtec and it works very well for me.  I also have a personal steamer that I use a few times a day to try and steam things out.  I've heard of the neti pot (not sure if that is spelled right) and that is supposed to work really, really good.

I keep a few peppermints with me in case I'm in public and the nausea gets too bad, it helps dry things up for a few minutes at least.

Good luck!

This could happen anywhere, not just WalMart.
nm
they didn't tell me that could happen! sm
Thanks for the info - they did not tell me that could happen! They told me the other one would take over the work of both. Mine was also removed due to a cyst. It has been a month and so far I am wondering if mine is working. How did you know yours stopped? Other than the obvious (no period) what symptoms did you have?
this didn't happen to me but had a sm
friend who use to work the ER as an aid back in the 80s. Ambulance and EMTs brought in two guys "stuck together." No kidding. I just have a visual on that one don't you all?
Accidents happen... sm
I guess I'd have to fire myself since I'm the cleaning lady around here because sometimes I occasionally break things accidentally. I guess that's the risk one takes with a cleaning person/service, but they're human and mistakes happen.

It always seems to happen like that, doesn't it.
Everything falls apart at once. Anyway, I have gas after having had electric for 15 years. I love my gas stove. The stove top is much faster, saves a lot of time. In the winter, when I'm done with the oven and turn it off, I open the door and it heats up the kitchen so nice and toasty. I would not go back to electric if I had a choice.
You are not strange. these things happen--sm
and if you ever watched *crossing over with John Edward* or his new show on WE *crossroads* with John Edward, you would understand about these experiences and know that your loved ones are trying to communicate with you the best way they can. He has many books you can read on the subject and you may even learn to communicate back. To me, and in my own opinion, I am envious, as my departed relatives, some of whom I would dearly love to hear from, do not do these types of things. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
Waking up can happen even with general
anesthesia, happened to me in the middle of a face lift as I was having my neck liposuctioned!! So having general (which I think is more than the conscious) does not mean you stay fully asleep. There are others waking with general, have seen stories on it before on 20/20 I think. I had other surgeries after that time but this was the only time I woke during surgery. I joked with the physician later about my awakening that the anesthesiologist must have gone out for lunch at that particular time!!
