Cymbalta

I am bipolar. Cymbalta made me extremely manic and violent in a matter of a week. Generally speaking, using ADs as a bipolar is a risky proposition. I've never done well with any of the ADs I've tried, but Cymbalta was by far the worst one...definitely a bad choice for me.

Cymbalta

Good, bad, or indifferent?

Particularly if you are bipolar....

TIA.

Cymbalta sm

I am not bipolar, or at least never had that diagnosis. I was just feeling very blue and had a hard time a few months ago. My PCP gave me samples of Cymbalta to try because I am highly allergic and not able to take much of anything without side effects. After taking just one pill, I was unable to sleep and was very jittery and felt so much worse, that I did not take another. I went on several sites and there were pro's and con's from those who use or have used this drug.  What I did, and have done in the past when feeling this way, is make a "grateful list" of things I should be grateful for. At times I have forgotten how fortunate I am. I also tried watching positive, comical things on TV instead of the usual negative things we see every day. I'm not saying this is all in your mind and you can overcome it. Believe me, I know how it is to feel sad and depressed. I looked more closely at my diet, made sure I wasn't straying away from my healthy diet. I felt so bad after taking this one pill that within a few days I was just glad to be myself and not have this terrible feeling Cymbalta gave me. Only you know how you feel, and your doctor probably has no idea how this drug will react on you. All I am saying is that you probably are a very stable person who is just going through a rough time. I sure do hope you feel better soon, it's a very lonely, terrible place to be. As mentioned above, I am highly allergic and perhaps you will not have the same bad reaction to this drug. If you do take it and feel worse, you are not alone. Trust in your own good judgement. Perhaps this drug will make you feel better, you won't know until you try it. At any rate, try to get a little sun if you can, take a personal inventory and most of all, take care of yourself, your diet and add some vitamins to your regimen. I really hope you feel better, it's not a pleasant place to be! Hope you feel better for the holidays, Feeling depressed really is a deep, dark hole and no one understands unless you've been down there. Bless you, take good care of yourself, put yourself first today!

Thankfully, I am feeling better, but I did a lot of hard work, plus got a new haircut. After going for years to an expensive salon, I tried one of the Supercuts. I went from paying $45 for a haircut to $13.50 and amazingly, they did a better job! Life is full of surprises if we look for them and in this economy, it's very easy to feel down. Our profession doesn't help - doom and gloom most of the day. Be the hero of your own story and surprise everyone around you. You can do it! Do try the mental health board for more input and go on some other sites like Web MD, Psychiatric Times, etc. and read other posts. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a village to help someone who is feeling bad today. I give you 110% of my support. You are worth it, you will find support on these boards. Feel better, okay?

Cymbalta
I was on it for over a year, then decided I couldn't afford it and had my doubts about whether or not I needed it. Killed my line count, couldn't concentrate at all.  I weaned myself off, had some withdrawal but was not too bad, and started taking St John's Wort and quercetin.  Doing much better now.  Most of my problem was hormonal, had PMDD and fibroids.  After my hysterectomy my mood swings went away.
Cymbalta for chronic pain?

Does anyone know anyone who uses this for pain or depression?  Any info would be appreciated.  TIA
