I would measure out a time frame that you can have your house torn up. I have found that pushing through fast causes mistakes, so now I take it a few hours at a time. Also, I used to resent having to go back to the hardware store, now I don't mind going back 4 times in one day because it is much easier to return things that were wrong instead of letting things pile up.

If you are going to DIY then you are over your head, but sometimes that is a fun place to be if you have the time and the money :)
