Do you remember the scene in "The Breakfast Club" where the girl did that? She was very artistic in that movie (even though it was just a movie).

I think you've done the best you can by having your son talk to the school counselor, or I suppose you could call the counselor and tell them of your concern.

I have had to deal with speaking with the school counselor about children I cared about whose parents didn't seem to be taking care of them - it's pretty nerve wracking but it's the right thing to do.

The dandruff girl update
My son stopped in to talk to the counselor about her today.  The counselor had no idea she was exhibiting this behavior and thanked him for letting her know about it.  Hopefully it's not too late in the school year for her to be able to intervene.  My daughter said she saw her playing with her dandruff today, collecting it on a paper, but she didn't see her eat it.  Instead, she brushed it onto the floor, then she started picking at her arm.
