Keep the journal going. SM

I too have had a miscarriage and loved the baby so much (11 weeks).  It was devastating and not all people understand exacty how attached we are to the child growing inside us.  I waited the appropriate time before starting again and got pregnant after a couple months.  I have a beautiful 11-year-old girl now.  If I wouldn't have had the miscarriage I wouldn't have my daughter whom I love so much.  I can't imagine the thought.

I'm sorry and keep up the journal.  It is so healthy to write your thoughts and feelings down as it helps you work through everything you are going through.  Your baby is in heaven along with mine and many others.  God has a special place close to him for the little ones.

I am keeping the journal going and in addition...sm
I bought a ceramic cross yesterday with 1 Samuel 1:27 on it which says "For This Child I prayed". I wrote the baby's nickname that my husband & I called it, the EDC and "went to heaven" dates on the front of the cross and it's hanging in our living room next to our family photo.
Do you have a journal or baby book?
I've had 3 and I used to write in them whenever I felt sad. I would just write thngs to the baby when I was pregnant. I kept doing it after the baby died. I would be crying horriblly while writing but then I would close the book, take a shower (cry more in the shower!), and then I would be ok.

The Altanta Journal newspaper today...sm
says that apparently there are 2 reasons he's staying on:

1. People feel sorry for him and want to irritate Simon by voting for him.

2. A lot of the girls ages 8-14 idolize him and think he's a sweet guy - they don't care that he can't sing - they just are attracted to him.

I think he does things on purpose like the Mohawk to keep the controversy about him going and people voting for him. Would he sell records if he were to be the final winner? I doubt he'd sell many.
Oh yes, they should have given her album too
because she is just such an excellent role model. Not. My thoughts were oh great now she can afford even more heroin and crack. LOL. Unbelievable :(
I thought she should have one album also!
I am hoping she takes this as a sign to get her life straight. She is very talented and still very young so has a good chance!
Have you even heard the album?? It's phenomenal! Like nothing else out there currently. sm
Besides, the Grammies aren't awards for morals, they are awards for music, and her music IS something unique and special.
Have you heard her first album titled Frank?
Great stuff! Especially considering her age! She'll get through this rough patch and hopefully make great music years to come!
Phil Spector did an album many moons ago with SM
the Ronettes, Shirelles and others, in that great Phil Spector way, which is my favorite. All good songs, Frosty the Snowman, Winter Wonderland. Makes me feel happy.

Yes, I know Phil is nuts, but the album (cd) is great.
Yes! Their Silent Night is my favorite on that album...sm
goosebumps for me each time I hear it, as well!!!

Empty Nester

I only WISH I were an empty nester!!  Those kids just won't LAUNCH!! Well, not completely true.  Four have launched, one is still not terribly old, and the older one still with me is at least getting on through college. I actually have three in college right now.  (I've been single for 20 years.)

Used to take my youngest places, sometimes take my grandson. But if I want to do something, I just go.  Have driven thousands of miles alone on trips. It makes me feel young and free to get in my car and just drive while I listen to a book on CD or MP3.

If you are actually a senior or retired, bet you could do some of those touring things and within a trip or two come up with a really great traveling companion.

I have a close friend who will be traveling with me once I can finally launch the kids and retire.

2.26!! Filled up my SUV for 45.00 - and it was empty!

Empty nest

I went through the "empty nest" 3 times.  I have 2 boys and 1 girl.  My daughter is very close to her brothers, as she is the 'baby."  We both cried when my first son got married and left the state.  We played his favorite songs and cried together, but we got over it.  Boys seem to be able to leave easier than girls.  I hear from my sons every month or so.  They live in Oklahoma, and my daughter and I live in Ohio.  My daughter is 25.  I moved to Ohio when she was 19.  When she got married, I went (and paid for) to the wedding.  That was the first time I met her "husband."  I missed her so much that my heart ached.  We were so close.  I was living here in Ohio with no family or friends and just typed all day long and that was it.  Well, one day my daughter called me and said they were coming to Ohio to live, as the job market was not good in OK.  Her husband had been a jockey and broke his ankle, and could not even ride any longer.  They came here and lived with me for 6 months until the upstairs apartment came available. She had a little girl, Autumn, 2 months before she came to Ohio.  They still live upstairs.  I see them everyday.  She had another baby, Summer, who then died of SIDS at 3 months of age.  We helped each other through the toughest thing in our lives.  She then had twins last December, Wynter and Breanna Spring.  The were born at 33 weeks, 3 pounds and 3.4 pounds.  I now watch them every morning and afternoon while she takes and picks up Autumn from school.  I am watching them right now while she is shopping.

I am telling you this to let you know you never know what life has in store for you.  I would never had thought my daughter would be here with me, and I would be a part of her every day life.  I love it.  My grandchildren love it.  My daughter loves it, and even my son-in-law loves it.  Life can really bring you lemonaide sometimes.

Prince's 1999 album, Sheila E, Rolling Stones, sm
Dinner music, Johnny Mathis, Rickie Lee Jones, Bonnie Raitt.

If you can get over the ick factor, Michael Jackson has great dance music too.
Diet pop is empty calories and crackers and some
...wheat breads will make you hungry faster.  I'm strugglin' too and haven't made up my mind to start.  All I'm comfy in are sweats.
my cat is 16. she went from living in my empty bedroom to my closet. sm
She goes between my closet and my husband's closet. She is eating well but just does not want to be bothered with us. She has always been a bit shy.
Stop giving empty threats and go through with one (sm)
If that means leaving temporarily or permanently then fine. You don't live with your 28 year old do you? If not, how can you threaten him? He's kind of out of your hands at this point. But you don't have to live with your husband if he is being a jerk.
Picking blackberries & putting them in an empty coffee can.
There was a field nearby with TONS of wild blackberry bushes. Some of them we would keep for ourselves and make blackberry cobbler, or we would sell them in empty coffee cans to the neighbors for $5/can. What a bargain!
Had Chinese takeout - my fortune cookie was empty

And my husband is trying to tell me that means I already have everything.

Hmmm......

Got a question for empty nesters. Do you ever find that you want to do things and it is so hard to
find someone to do things with anymore. Do you just go alone and how does that work out or take a bus trip or what do you do.  If you sit around waiting on someone to fit into your schedule you may never get to do anything. BTW, I am divorced also.
ER MT that photo rocks!!!
That is one of the best photos out there...makes me laugh my patootie off everytime!
ER MT - that photo actually scared me
I was up late half awake and that photo popped up! Then I thought, you know that's a lot like me when I do ERs!!! Of course, for me it's because I'm not so smart yet and a bit frazzled. New specialty, just sometimes. Thanks for the giggle!
Photo sharing
I use smugmug. There is a small yearly fee around $40), but I love the way it makes my pictures look and friends and family can order prints directly from my site. Check my page out at sharonwhaley.smugmug.com
These photo's are a hoax
These photos are from a scene in the show "Lost". See link below.

What is sad is that some sicko would do something like this and post it on the internet.

Anyway...here is a link I found that it's a hoax...

Did you catch the photo on Fox of her taken out of her estate?
Gosh, she looks like you or me, did not seem like she had time to have her makeup done professionally before her next 15 minutes. Not hot.

Seems it's time for that dreaded photo for my SM

driver's license. . . LOL!  Those people have to have a camera that is rigged. Why do I always look like I should be holding the plate under my chin with a number on?  The last time I went for a picture four years ago this woman who worked there approached me at the door, smiled and said

"Oh, you can fix that if you want."  She pointed to a mirror.  Sadly, I had no idea what she meant!!

does anyone use a photo sharing site,

that they recommend? I used snapfish before, and and i see that Walgreens uses the same program -- but some have said there are better sites to share photos -- but i don't remember which ones they are (that don't require membership, etc).  thanx.

Photo restoration - see message
If you have a scanner (if not they can be pretty cheap) you can scan in photos. I'll bet lots of people out there have photos they'd like reproduced for family members. Also I do photo restoration of old photographs (need a program like photoshop). You can make photo collages for people. My grandfather just passed away and he gave us tons of slides he took of us kids when we were little (I'm talking tons (like 1000 or more). I'm scanning them in (getting rid of the red, green, and dirt (they are over 50 years old) and making collages for all my siblings, but am sure with some "creative" advertising on your part you could do this for money.
My cat has mastered my photo-printer. -(sm)-
She loves when it whirrs and clicks as it's starting up. So one day when she walked on it and accidentally started it, she's spent lots of time trying to figure it out. She now has narrowed it down to the 'start' button.

If I WANTED her to start the printer, of course, she would have nothing to do with it. But the fact that I DON'T want her to start it, makes it all the more fun and interesting.
Hats and a Smile: Photo inside
A couple of weeks ago, I posted about Conner, a 13-year-old boy from Indiana who had a BMT for a very rare disease called NEMO. Only a handful of NEMO boys have had BMTs with "mixed results" according to Conner's mom. Conner's transplant was in August and he's had a rough time with a few highs and lots of lows. I thought it would be neat if Conner could get a hat from every state to maybe boost his morale as well as cover his bald head since it's getting cold! So far four hats have been sent and a few more are pending. I was hoping you all could help out by either sending a hat, or even just passing the links along as the more this gets around, the more hats Conner will receive.

At least check out his web site that his mom and dad maintain updating his progress, posting slide shows, etc. Conner is one in a set of triplets and also has a 10-year-old sister. The photos tug at your heart and the music rips out what's left of it. It would be great if you signed the guest book. His mom says they read it together every day and it means a lot to the both of them. This family, and especially Conner, needs all the encouragement and support they can get.

Thanks everyone!

The easiet way for me to upload photo here is to use Photobucket.com s.
After you are done uploading your photo, your photo will have a DIRECT LINK in one of the boxes. Copy that link into the Post Image box on MTStars (under the Avatar/Profile ID box).

AFter you post the link, TA-DA, the photo will appear when you post! Very simple. I love Photobucket only to upload pics to the net.
I coach softball and my favorite gift was a sweatshift with photo of the team and all the kids signe
They signed it in some kind of indelible ink which is great because I actually wear it all the time. I also got a plaque that looks just like the shirt, which is nice to have because I'm sure I'll wear out the sweatshirt. I love them and feel proud when I wear the shirt. We were champs of the league and the district and for a couple months after the season we were all kind of local celebrities! I played at a high level myself traveling all over Italy and Japan, but coaching this group was the best experience of my athletic career.
