It's easier to "mold the mind" of an 18-year-old. I was 24 when I went through basic training and my TI (technical instructor) was a year younger than me. Tough taking orders from someone younger, especially after I'd been out on my own for 5 years.


I think the military should offer at least two years of training and an Associate's degree BEFORE you do your service. They pay tuition, and you are obligated to do the service, but you get an education and some experience before you serve.
