this is supposed to somehow cut down on illegal immigration (which as you pointed out the borders are wide open) and to protect us from terrorism. But weren't several of the 9/11 terrorists actually legal residents??

And then there is Bush with his "fight the terrorists there so we won't have to fight them at home" ignoring the fact that this war has left us more vulnerable here than we have ever been. If hurricane Katrina didn't illustrate that I don't know what would. During that disaster I could just picture Bin Laden laughing his *** off because we are basically doing his job for him- all he has to do is sit back and watch.
