In Reply to: The Bible and its interpretations - dnh

It is not my intention to "jump all over" anyone, and I certainly hope you don't take it that way.

As far as different interpretations of the Bible, if you mean the KJV, the NKJV, the Amplified Bible, the NIV, etc....these are not different interpretations but rather translations. The root word "translate" according to Webster means to change into another language or to explain in other words. The NKJV, for example, just mostly removed the "thees, thys and thous" to make it easier to undertand. Others such as the Amplified Bible, etc, just restated the Scriptures in a way that is easier to understand.

With that said, I do believe there ARE other interpretations out there that are false and do cause confusion because they are not translated but rather interpretted according to what the interpretor wanted it to say. Some, such as the Message, even degrade the Holy Scriptures with vulgar wording and the "demoting" of the LORD Jesus to Master Jesus. These are man's interpretations using words to either water down the meaning of God's Word or to "spice it up" in order to sell copies.

As a Christian, the more one prayerfully gets into God's word, the more able one will be to spot false interpretatons and translations of the Bible. Hope this helps!
