Anyone grind their own coffee???
I would love to get the good coffee taste such as Dunkin Donuts and have thought about getting some to grind. Has anyone done this and if so how is it as compared to what you get in the stores? Thanks.
I grind coffee, it's the freshest/best...

You mean "Upchucked" coffee...i have a friend who used their espresso to stain a table
and it came out pretty good.  Now Peet's - THAT'S REAL COFFEE!!
That sounds so YUMMY especially with me craving coffee big time right now!
I have always thought about doing the Gevalia thing.  You'll have to let us know how it compares and if it's worth the money.
Thank you for taking the time to type this!
I am still considering this. I have found a couple of others as well and I thought I would let my daughter choose. I am getting really excited. There will be no fanfare....no music, no flowers (except I will carry a rose and so will my daughter) no extra family. It will be intimate and very meaningful.
What great determination and help from a great friend! :) nm

I type pediatric reports all the time, and from what
I've been reading, it can easily happen as early as 8, or as late as 14-15. (I was 13, myself). 10 is a tad young, but certainly not abnormal. If I had a daughter going starting her menses, I'd get her something like "Always", the pads that have sticky wings on them that attach them to underpants. No annoying, visible, uncomfortable belts! She may be a tad young for tampons, but maybe when she's a little older that could be an option too. I just wish they had those stick-on pads when I was a teenager!
I type reports of women in their 40's delivering all the time.

I type obturator sling procedures all the time. Insurance

That's a great idea, I have a friend going through - sm
something similar; though in her case her husband cheated with her best friend; low and very cold. She too is moving out so I'd be interested in hearing any suggestions too. As for a song, the only one that springs to mind is "I will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. As for things for the apartment, dart board complete with ex-pic, any kitchen stuff she might need, small microwave, utensils, bath salts to soak her frustrations, sadness and anger away, nice set of fluffy towels, etc.
A friend sent me this last night. It is great!!!

Every time my mom sent my best friend and I sm
to pick berries there were never enough to make a cobbler. We ate more than we picked.
Reread and don't see anything I did not see the first time. Try being a better friend.
If she were mine, I would accept her with all her faults, if I were really her friend. You are judging on something you seem to know so little about. I see another MT signed on telling you forgetfulness is not what she nor I want to do, it is just us. Thank goodness, not disowned because I forget!!
It was a great time - I just hate the time we are in now
I liked your post. Thanks for replying It's nice to know other people were raised like me. We seem to appreciate the things we have. Oh I should've also said we didn't have A/C growing up. My parents idea of A/C was having my sister and I wave a piece of cardboard in front of them. HA HA HA.

I just couldn't stand the 90s and 2000s are even worse. I hate all the politics going on today, the world events, the bleak future. The degenerates running around, listening to kids talk back to their parents, girls gone wild, etc, etc. I'm grateful my grandparents and mom are not alive anymore to have to go through this with us.

I love watching old movies and the music of the 40s/50s. If I was alive back then I would've been doing the jitterbug and all those other fun dances. Life seemed simpler and cleaner (even though I've got a mouth like a sailer - guess I got that from my Army days).

I wouldn't mind the turn of the century either. I love the clothing and the simple life. Those are the times when the husband took care of the wife. If I could be transported back to the 1800s I surely would in a second.
He was gambling at the hotel at the time with another friend. He was there. nm

Friend of mine got the same note from her kid, but she was only 23 at the time.

A funeral is not the time or place for your friend to take a stance over something done 10 yrs ago.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but for your friend to even "think" about saying anything right now would be selfish and inconsiderate. He has had 10 years to deal with this issue. Why now??

I really tried to look at this issue from all angles and to be honest, just really don't "get it." I can't understand why anyone would feel the need to change a name they have had for at least 18 years. If my daughter changed her name, I would be absolutely devastated. Unless she was in the Witness Protection Program, I would continue to call her by the name she was given after 26 hours of labor and delivery. I'm not sure I could call her by another name even if I wanted to. It may not sound like much, but your friend is really asking a lot from people. Old habits DO die hard and this is so much more than just a habit.

If a friend of mine did this and it meant THAT much to her, I suppose I would try to make her happy. Without knowing all of the details, it's hard say for sure. One thing I do know is that if your friend is going to address this, he needs to wait for the appropriate opportunity. The timing he chooses could have a significant impact on the outcome.

Do you mind me asking why your friend did something this drastic?
That's about the time I would have gotten dressed, called up a girl friend - sm
And gone to a movie or something. I would also make dern sure that I got home at least an hour AFTER he gets home. Let him wonder.
Proctor Silex Brew Station; no carafe to break;

I love my Cuisinart stainless
I don't have a set, but a few pieces I got at amazon.com.

I bought a KitchenAid set for me, Cuisinart for my DIL.
My KitchenAid set we LOVE. My DIL loves the Cuisinart. Got both sets on Friday Sale at Amazon.com. Both were $129. Cuisinart may be slightly better quality, but the chicken fryer pan in the KitchenAid is much bigger. They are both excellent sets and bought for quite a discount. Both stainless. Both a good buy! Good luck.
Have a Great Time
Even though I'm not a country music lover, I love Tim. Relax and have fun.
While it is a great time to buy...
the banks are very picky now who they are lending money to. DH and I just this morning refinanced our mortgage to 4.8% but our lender (Countrywide) let us know the type of person they are looking for. We have been with them for 15 years, have a great pay history, never late, always pay extra on the principal each month, have a credit score of 805 and no debt but our home. They told us the rates are high for anyone not at 700 or above credit score, anyone with any unmanageable debt (including car payments) and now MUST prove income (which is great compared to how anyone could get a loan not too long ago). Make a few calls and see what rate you can get. We were also offered a 3.75% for 15 years, which is fabulous. We only owe 160,000 on our home, so we jumped at the chance to just drop a full point down to 4.8% on a 30 year and may even take the 15 year. Good luck.
This time of year can be great but

Dealing with in-laws is awful sometimes.  I just need to vent so whoever does not want to hear it you mine as well stop reading now.  My father-in-law is crazy and I mean he is bipolar.  He thinks he is so innocent and people are out to get him when he stirs up trouble constantly.  This is the first time we have seen him at Christmas in 3 years.  He has caused trouble with my BIL and SIL and they have wrote him off yet again.  My hubbie says he does not want to do that because of the fact of what if something happens to him, he would regret it.  He wants to be forgiving which I understand it is his dad, but oh my gosh he stood in our living room last night and told us a bunch of lies which I am know for a fact are lies and then starts preaching to us about people and unforgiveness.  I was getting so mad I wanted to cry right there and I could not go to sleep last night I was so frustrated.  AAAHHHAAHHH!!

Anyways just wanted to vent.  I do love this time of the year with the decorations and Christmas music just could do with a little less of the drama.  I wish people did not have to be dumb sometimes.  Okay I am done,  Thanks for letting me vent!!

Yippy! Have a great time. Now you
can do a little shopping, LOL.

I'd have a ball in Yellowstone. Just be careful around the beautiful scalding lakes!

If you have time, you might want to use Google Earth and see what you can see from there.
Congrats, have a great time!........nm

I've got Cuisinart hard anodized pots and pans
They still look like they came out of the box and they're about 4 years old. I'm impressed because I used to go through a set a year on the average so I bit the bullet and paid more money and I'm glad I did.

Was having a great time (Beware, long rambling:-)

while I was scooping the back so thought I'd try to get a couple of pics for DH, who is gone for the next 10 days for work.  He's a labradoodle that we got last summer at 4 months old and before anyone jumps in here and says they're overpriced mutts (which they are ) we got him from a shelter in another city.  All of the dogs I have had have been from shelters and would never pay hundreds or thousands when there are so many dogs that need homes.  We saw a brown one last summer that DH fell in love with, so I did some searching and this shelter had several.  The others had been picked up as strays, a couple of older dogs and several puppies, which I guess all but a couple died from parvo.  Jake was turned in by a family who thought he was too energetic for their 2-year-old.  He had kennel cough, we discovered, when we got him home and was sick for a few weeks, but not too bad a case, had some snotty nose and coughing, was really worried about pneumonia, but the vet said to go ahead and give him the vaccine and sometimes that helps them get over it a little easier.  He's got a nice combination of lab and poodle coat, needs to be raked once a week or so, but he doesn't shed.  He's a little pill for sure but I think is going to be a great dog with a little more work.  He's still pretty ~boisterous~ you might say on walks.  I'm a Dog Whisperer fan, just love that show and Cesar Millan, so we ordered the collar that he uses on that show, and it really is making a huge difference.  Also, I was really impressed when we got it.  How many things do you find these days that are made in the US?  His packaging on the collar had ~~we proudly support our country, made in the USA~~!!  Even more of a fan now!

I have been checking out boxer rescues and if we can afford a home of our own, hopefully next year sometime, I'd like to get a pal for him.  I'm actually a big boxer fan from way back, have a pic mom took of me as a baby in diapers sitting in the middle of a litter of boxer puppies with them crawling all over me!  a wonder any of us grew up, huh , with all the things we came in contact with like that, she'd probalby get hauled away for child abuse these days.  Dad found the mamma boxer wandering the country roads one hot summer day when he was hail adjusting.  She was struggling, pregnant, really hot and thirsty, so he brought her home, no one ever claimed her, so Duchess became a part of our family.  I had a boxer some years ago that I adopted from a puppy mill raid, where I helped take care of some of the dogs that were rescued, 200 and some of all varieties and ages, mostly all sick, filthy, malnourished, etc. in the the middle of January, below zero, snow, and a lot of them kept outside with no shelter, was a horrible mess, but people in that town really stepped up to the plate, donated all kinds of food, leashes, collars, bedding, vets donated their services, and all but a few of the dogs (too sick and had to be put down) were adopted.  Duke was a very sick pup at first and didn't know if he'd make it, but he was a wonderful dog with my kids when they were young!

Anyway, just sitting here browsing the board and rambling on...By the way Hayseed, I visited your website the other day because I wanted to see your web cam (really cool!) and saw you had an RIP pic for Arf, sorry for your loss.  I remember you said awhile back you thought it wouldn't be long but must have missed when he passed and crossed the bridge.

Update: We went ice skating yesterday pm and he had a great time (sm)
I told him we are going to look into more places where he can go and do the types of things he likes to do. However, I do disgree that there is anything wrong with other sports...to each his/her own. If someone loves ball sports, I don't see that as making them a "follower". Everyone has an aptitude for different things. Thanks for all the suggestions and insight everyone!
Sounds great..Question about baking time/temp..sm

How long do you bake the muffins and at what oven temp?  These sound wonderful & so much easier than making pumpkin bread.   Thanks!

Their scoops are GREAT. I have perfectly shaped cookies all the time now. (sm)
I have had this scoop about 8 years now and wouldn't give it up for the world.

Also have a stone I use quite a lot. Great to get that crispiness on something without having to fry it in grease.

Their stuff is a little high dollar, but the quality is great and if you have a party yourself you can get quite a bit of stuff for yourself.

At least go and enjoy. I love Pampered Chef parties.

Type 1 requires insulin, type 2 does not - sm
that is the basic difference. Type 2 can be controlled by diet changes and/or medication (pills). My MIL has type 2 which runs in her family, no one is obese either. She controls it with diet and medication. Your dermatologist I think is wrong. Doesn't your husband know which type he has?
A coffee pot. No more instant coffee!!! :-) nm

a friend's b/friend died last year, drank, took vicodin...

Coffee??

My hubby and I love McDonalds coffee.  I am currently using Folgers, but it actually tastes bitter.  Any smooth coffees out there that might be your favorite or something close to McDonalds?  Thanks.

Coffee, coffee and more coffee.

Why does she see have a cup of coffee with her
hubby each morning you ask?  BECAUSE THAT IS THE KEY TO A HAPPY MARRIAGE!  Always have a cup of coffee with your husband before he leaves for work because you can always go back to bed!  This was told to me by a woman I worked with that was passed down from her mother.  Staying in bed back in those days (before women worked outside of the home) was considered lazy.  I always get up and have a cup of coffee with my husband, and I see the kids off to school.  I can always go back to bed, but I don't.  I just start typing, which usually leads to laundry, more typing, straightening up the house, more typing, trolling this board, more typing, petting the cat, more typing, and then more COFFEE!!!!!  lol  Have fun!
oh but I think we DO get together for coffee...s/m

virtually/cyberly speaking, that is *grin*

Coffee for four?

Mission accomplished everyone!  Got an email from my mutual friend on this board and I have replied.  It is nice when you finally know a first name. I will admit I can talk you under the table about my love for dogs. At first it seemed impossible to know each one of the breeds by name when I would watch the American Kennel Club Dog Show and Westminster, but now with 167 breeds in AKC I am right up with them. However, that will quickly go to 169 when they welcome two new breeds into the club, which I think is to be very soon. When I went to a show in April they introduced the new hound, the  Plott. It is really beautiful.

Thanks for your nice comments!

don't be shy, just tell him so over a cup of coffee that you asked him out for.

Got my new coffee maker from
coffeeandkitchen.com. They have several models but think I read above someone who had thermal and I went that route. My hubby thinking he was getting the best if he paid a lot more for it, got a coffee pot, Cuisinart, that I detest!! As soon as you make the coffee and pour, lukewarm. Yucko....I am now wanting to get coffee grinder. Might go back to that site and check those out.
I'm 50 and coffee was my eye opener. Don't

know what happened, but it doesn't work for me anymore.  I sleep anywhere from 6 to 8 hours and that doesn't help.  Can't seem to concentrate on work either.  LOL - Yikes, I"m a mess

RE: Need a new coffee maker
Capresso brand, either at Linens and Things, Bed, Bath and Beyond. Purchased mine at Neiman Marcus $160....absolutely worth every cented drop! It's a thermal carafe type so you never have burnt coffee taste. Always keeps coffee perfect temp, first cup to the last.
PS. RE: Need a new coffee maker
For the ultimate coffee experience = Capresso coffee maker brewing freshly ground Pete's Coffee (Kenya blend)! Mm mm mm mm mm:)
This morning before my first cup of coffee

"the cat threw up in the kitchen" right behind my chair!  I guess sleeping in on a Saturday doesn't pay off.  The cat ate too fast.  I guess she was famished.  Well it could be worse right?

Update on coffee.

I used the tablespoon method from the poster below and then measured into my cup measurer. It was almost 1/2 cup of coffee grounds. The coffee tasted just a wee bit better, but still not good enough.

I was thinking about buying some already measured coffee to see if that makes a difference, but ya can't just buy one (to test), so I think I'll play around with the measuring a little more.

I'm also going to break open the 100% Columbian coffee hubby bought and see if that makes a difference.

I had noticed that over the last few months, whenever I opened a new can of coffee, that "whoosh" never happened like it used to, so I'm thinking these stores/manufacturers are just keeping the coffee in storage too long....probably because of the high prices, people aren't buying as much. LOL
