Have a question now, please

In Reply to: Has anyone ever used Vasoline to get rid of lice? If so, sm - how do you get it out?

After doing a lot of research on the internet I used cornstarch on their hair and wrapped them in a towel for about an hour. Then used Dawn 2-3 times. Then used baby oil. I saturated the whole head dripping with it...and then more Dawn. The hair came out beautiful! No grease and no bad smells...and best of all no burning scalp from harsh chemicals.
Anyway, my question now is, are the things still attached to the hair alive or dead?? I read that they are dead after all of this, plus the blow drying I did, but they can still be attached to the hair and just need to be pulled out. Is this true? I cannot believe that they are even still attached to the hair after three bottles of Dawn, two boxes of Cornstarch and the Vasoline and peanut butter from yesterday!
Please advise on these little critters!! Everything in the house was either sprayed or taken to the laundry mat and washed and dried on high heat/hot water.

Thanks for all your help!!!
