If you are reading during night shift - do NOT play maze game
I know you are curious, but please refrain from playing the maze game until the sun comes up!!
We are die-hard Steeler fans and it was a great game last night...
The Cardinals played great and you couldn't ask for a better game, although I am glad my team came out in the end...Go Steelers!!!
Backwards night! Breakfast for dinner!
Having bacon, eggs, toast. Usually have pancakes or waffles instead of toast, but not much gumption today...
We do the Sunday dinner thing every night. We have 3 young boys sm
all under the age of 10 and our family didn't do it growing up and neither did my husband's family. The 5-7 p.m. hour is precious to me. I work from 7-10 almost every night so I just take that time to talk with my husband and let the kids update hubby on their day at home, esp. since I'm homeschooling this year. I know, sounds so June Cleaverish...but it's really not. I make sure I am NOT on the phone when he comes home and definitely no company between those hours. You have to protect that family unit.
I made baked sweet potatoes for dinner last night
You cook them just like a baked potato. My 10 y/o daughter and I just like butter on ours. I love sweet potatoes though! I also have a really good recipe with apples and sweet potatoes in a casserole (see below). I brought it for Thanksgiving dinner last year and it was a hit! It's more tart than sweet and really delicious!

Apple-Sweet Potato Bake

3 pounds sweet potatoes
4 medium tart apples, peeled
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1. Scrub sweet potatoes with a veggie brush under cold water. Pierce skin in several places; place on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until almost tender (I bake them a little longer cuz I like them pretty mushy). Cool slightly; peel potatoes and cut into 1/4 inch slices.

2. Cut the apples into 1/4 inch slices; toss with lemon juice. In a greased 11-in. x 7-in. x 2-in. baking dish, alternately arrang sweet potato and apple slices. Sprinkle with pecans.

3. In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, honey, orange juice, cinnamon and ginger. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; pour over potatoes and apples. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until tender.

Here's another recipe I make sometimes. It's called "Heavenly Sweet Potatoes" by Campbell's Soup.

Vegetable cooking spray
1 can (40 oz) cut sweet potato, drained
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 ground ginger
3/4 cup Swanson Chicken Broth
2 cups miniature marshmallows

Spray a 1-1/2 quart casserole with cooking spray. Set the dish aside.
Place the potatoes, cinnamon and ginger in a 3-quart bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until the potatoes are fluffy and almost smooth. Add the broth and beat until the ingredients are mixed. Spoon the potato mixture into the prepared dish. Top with the marshmallows.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until hot and marshmallows are golden brown.
Kilz primer will let you paint over it, but wear mask. Good idea to paint it.

Paint it!

I've encountered both real-wood paneling and cheap'o pressed (remanufactured?) paneling and several in between.  I absolutely hate paneling!

If it is real wood or at all pourous you could scrub with Murphy's oil soap or something similar.

I've always opted to paint it.  You'll most definitely need to invest in a decent primer and use a decent quality paint as well.  If you try to just paint it (even with good quality paint) you'll end up having to put a half-dozen coats on and that is a lot of work!

There is also a thick, stiff paper covering that you can put on it, it goes on like wallpaper and then paint over that, or leave plain if you'd prefer.  That can turn into a pretty expensive route because that covering is pretty expensive when you get the thick kind that will cover the cracks in the paneling and not let them show through.  That stuff comes in different thicknesses for various uses, so you would need to be sure to get the thick one that will smooth over the cracks, it usually tells in the "used for" section if it works for covering paneling.  If you don't mind seeing the cracks, then I'd say PAINT IT!

Good luck.

I am not sure there is a *paint* for --sm
painting china, as most of these items are glazed and fired in a kiln. Paint would wash off in a dishwasher, etc. Perhaps go to a ceramic shop and have one glazed for you in a pattern you choose. This is just a thought. good luck to you.
paint
Some people do pain the ceilings the same color but i think most just leave it white. I personally would leave it white. Don't overdo the green, i think you would be sorry.

How come that she spilled this paint on the floor?
Was there no cover on the can?
The mother of the girl is not responsible for what happens in your house.
Also not that she dragged all the paint into your house.
If you have children as guests in your house, you are responsible for what happens and you have to supervise them.
Where were you? Where were you wandering around?
If something happened to the child, it could have been your responsibility.
You should have secured this can of paint before the children arrive.

And what do you mean by 'disrespectful'?
You should have been downstairs.

And Thursday night is safer than Friday night - how?
We used to live in a town that was once in the Guiness Book of World Records for number of churches per capita (which by the way was the worst place I've ever lived - discourteous, Nazi schools, etc.), and they wouldn't let us trick or treat on Sundays. Ridiculous! People can say what they want but celebrating Halloween doesn't make you a devil worshiper! Just my 2 cents!
paint colors..

Go to sites like Lowes.com click project center, interactive disign tools and try Armstrong design-a-room or olympic paint color guide.  These will give good tips as well as let you select colors and see them on walls and ceiling to see what they look like.

I recently remodeled.  Hubby's childhood home.  He had never seen anything but white wall anywhere.  I love to cook so afterwards we looked back and paint names were sage, olive, thyme, ginger peach, merlot, moonshine.

They have a paint calculator there as well to make sure you don't over buy, but we did buy extra for later touch ups or "oopses" that happen.

Most stores now have a computer that you can take your pillow sham or comforter in and they can scan the color content and either mix the almost exact color you want or tell you which ones they have in stock that match.

Some recommend mixing paint with your white to match a little closer for ceiling.  My ceilings were all ultrawhite.  I loved the crisp white feeling.  Hubby said looked like crayola box exploded.  I figured okay so what if it made it look a little smaller?  The room is the same size.  (mainly for selling factors).  I said if I paint it where it looks big and still stump my toe on furniture what difference does it make, it is still the same size room!  But I was happy with my choices.

Congrats! If you want some paint fun

go to the various paint companies websites (I like Behr) and fool around with their virtual rooms and color combos.  They also have good tips for the how-to of it.   Enjoy your new digs!

From the picture you paint, it is SM
hopeless. No man wants to get divorced. This may sound funny, but they don't. Even if they hate the woman they are married to. I should know. I was a perfect housekeeper, but everything you said in your note applied to me. May have been married to the same man!

If you have been to counseling four times, I would say you gave it your best shot.

However, how old are your children? It is very hard raising kids alone. Can you stay there until they are older? High school? I was a long suffering woman, until my daughter graduated from high school. I am much older and we were taught to stay for the sake of the children.

Believe me, I know it is not easy to leave; but it does get a LOT easier once the children are grown.

You have a lot to think about and my heart goes out to you, because I was once where you are.
Paint chips as a child
No - did you - you're an MT aren't you - that equates to insanity the way I see it.
I gave away tons of paint that I
no longer wanted, someone asking for and told them take all or nothing. They did and it helped me clean out my garage. I saw a trailer someone was giving away -the kind some folks live in. I have been trying to get my hubs to get some free mulch- they have that all the time.
and I could paint with my feet if I had no arms
the question is if I had a choice, I think I would choose to have arms.
Any tips on getting paint out of carpet? sm
My daughter had a party tonight with probably 10 kids here.  One of the girls spilled a can of paint in the garage they were using for their "haunted house" and stepped all in it.  Rather than staying outside until she got the paint off with the water hose, she tracked it all into my house!  I am furious!  Of course, she wasn't wearing her shoes.  She was playing and put my 16-yo's shoes on.  I highly doubt she would go tracking through her home with paint on the bottom of her feet and she even came upstairs laughing saying I stepped in that paint that we spilled.  I said then what are you doing tracking it all through my house, get in the bathroom and wash it off!  She is 12 years old and should know better. Kids these days are so disrespectful.........Any tried and true tips for getting paint out of carpet?  Should I say something to her parents?  This is the same child I almost sent home earlier today because she slapped my 9-yo son and I did call her mom about that and informed her of what happened and if I had any more incidences out of her she was going home.  Hitting is not allowed in my house period!  Geez, can I say this child will not be a vistor at my house anymore!
give them a paint brush.

I want to learn to paint gourds. sm
Can anyone recommend some good books to buy?  I did find some but would really like to know which ones to buy first.  They all looked great.
You absolutely can paint paneling, no problem
at all. I wiped down the walls with some cleanser type material as the person living there previously had cooked and the walls sorta greasy. I used absolutely nothing but the paint - nothing else needed. The walls were very dark brown and I used indoor off white to brighten up. We use for a woodsy get away from the big city......
If the color is very light, paint ceiling with it, too.
Usually enough light reflects up so it appears the ceiling is white, anyway. Only with dark colors will it seem cave-like. I've done it with a celery color and it was bright and cheery.

If you have lots of trim and paint it a crisp white, then I'd paint the ceiling white too. That would look sharp.
Go to hgtv.com. They always strip and paint cabinets on

1950s paint-by-numbers on Ebay (sm)
I just gave a quick look-see and I found everything ranging from $5 to $30.  Who knew?!
Yep, he plays basketball, paint ball, and wrestles.

I've also heard about paint ball guns...
they shoot people walking or riding on the sidewalk/road.  And those things HURT...what's up with the youth of today?  Are they really that bored, I mean, they have sooo much more than we (most of us) did when we were growing up.  Maybe that's the problem, they're spoiled...anyway, I do hope they get caught.  Thank goodness for my good kids!
what about the kids who paint house numbers on curbs? nm

You'll pretty much have to paint and steam clean
My grandmother smokes inside, and when we repainted the inside of her house and cleaned her carpets (steam cleaned them twice!) you couldn't smell it anymore. That is, until she started smoking inside again!

They make paint for everything now...from metal to even outdoor plastic furniture...I am sure there

Just a game?

...er, nevermind, my pills have kicked in. :-)
seen the game Mad Gab? -
had to be developed by a MT.
Fun game.

Here's a fun one, if you just bounce on for a second and then go back to typing. Don't know if you've done it or not.

So...WHO WON that game anyway? lol.

game idea
Our youth group had a balloon tower game.  The kids were divided into 2 teams and each given the same number of balloons and scotch tape.  They had a certain amount of time to blow up the balloons and build a tower and see who had the tallest one at the end of the time limit.  We had kids of all ages and they all seemed to enjoy it.
Think it is a little late in the game
because at 22 she should already pretty much know how to manage. My daughter not only paid did all the bookkeeping for our family but had her own job, own car, own this and that, very self sufficient at that age. This is something you start prior to her age of 22.
The dating game.

I hate it and that's why I continue to be single and loving it.  Knowing the simplistic mind and approach of men to relationships, think of it this way (just to put it bluntly).  They are like boys with new toys.  If they play too much with the toy, sooner or later, they will set it aside and forget about it.  As far as "games," yes dating is a game, a "cat and mouse" game.  The cat enjoys inmensely chasing after the mouse.  You have to "dangle the catnip" for the cat and let him work for it.  If the mouse does the chasing, then it is not fun for the cat.  Many men have the same thing in mind while dating "hit and run" (if you know what I mean), as in "why buy the cow, when you have tasted the milk."  You have to let him do the chasing.  When a woman goes too much after a man, he just sits in his all mighty throne knowing that he doesn't have to do anything, but wait for you to come to him to tell him how much you need him.  If he really has any real true intentions, he will call you or write to you wondering what you have been up to.  There is nothing worse for a man that not to know what a woman is thinking.

come to think of it - I am very good at that game

Bunco is a game....(sm)
It is a game where teams roll dice and try to get certain sets of numbers for prizes at the end of the game. Nothing to do with grooming at all. I agree with you. Very few women who I can get along with other than on a superficial basis.
loved the game
I watched and LOVED the game - I really didn't care who won - I rooted for both times - love both quarterbacks. . . totally enjoyed the whole thing - even most of the commercials. . my fiance isn't much of a footbal fan, so I mostly watched by myself - used the game as an excuse to have lots of snacks.
No it is a PC game that you can buy at WalMart
They do make a console version but it's horrid.

if you have slow PC or laptop I would recomend The Sims Life Stories because The Sims 2 game takes up a lot of memory and requires a fast system, the Life Stories is a "lite" version and requires you to reach certain goals rather than free play. I really enjoyed Life Stories, wish they would come out with more.

here is the sims 2 deluxe edition:

Another fun video game sm..
Is Wii Fit.  It's the first video game I've ever bought in my life.  It has yoga, some strength exercises, aerobics (running in place).  I live in the South, and it's nice to exercise in my house with the air conditioning.
Playing the game
1. I'm a HUGE flirt!
2. Can manage LOTS of money at my other job but can't seem to manage 3.00 in my own checking account {sigh}.
3. Would love to hop in an RV and travel the country!
I was actually at the 6th game in 1980.
I saw the Phillies win their one and only WS championship. Just one. And the Phillies have been around since 1883. Makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

I love the Phils even though they've broken my heart more times than I can count. Maybe for that reason I'm trying to pretend that I'm not too excited. I'm hoping that Richie Ashburn has some pull up in heaven and maybe can call in some sort of favor for another World Series this year. What's that everyone's saying? Eight-O and O-Eight. Please, just one more before I die!

my favorite game

I played a really fun game at someone's baby shower that I have always remembered. You buy a few jars of baby food and take off the labels. Number the jars of food and keep a key around for you so you won't forget what they are! Try picking ones that look similar or might be hard to guess. Pass the baby jars around and get everyone to write down what they think it is. The person with the most correct answers wins. Good luck!

Awesome game
Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Watch a baseball game. sm

A lot of pro sports people do it too.  Good luck, maybe he will stop.

We all have troubles with kids.   My 21-year old son was on pot real bad, and he has finally stopped, so hang in there.

Imagination is when all parties know it's just a game.
If you were fine with finding out Santa was just a myth, fine, hopefully your kids will be the same. But don't have a cow just because some people aren't into the Santa thing. And I don't have kids, so you don't have to worry about my "poor kids." And it's not necessary to e-mail me to express your anger over my opinion.
