We take ALL of our combined bills for the household and pay the percentage each of us earns for those bills. We have 10% savings automatically payroll deducted into a savings account from each of our jobs. Any personal bills we then encounter, we pay out of our reserve.

I earn 65% to his 35%. So, I pay 65% of the household bills and he pays 35%.

While I may be paying actual dollar amounts more, I am paying my fair share according to my income, as is he.

If he creates a bill that we did not agree on, he pays it out of what he has left after savings and bills.
