I've been ready for Brooke to go home for weeks!

Never have liked her.  She seems fake, her voice is weak, and I hate that little pouty face she makes all the time.  No clue why she is still there.

I'm still cheering for David Cook.

home invasion for me 2 weeks ago

I, like you, always try to help out, give money to street people and try to be NICE.  In your case I would have offered some money for a bus ride.  Would never get in my car with someone I did not know.

Almost 2 weeks ago the doorbell rang at 3 a.m. (always a bad sign).  I was sound asleep, as were my husband and son.  I looked out the window and saw a kid (turns out he's 20) and opened the door about an inch and asked him what he needed.  He burst through the door and began to beat me up in the livingroom.  I was able to force him back out (sustaining a sprained wrist and a concussion in the process) and my husband heard me screaming and ran after him.  Of course, we called the police and he was caught as my husband was able to get a partial license plate number.  He was arrested, spent a few days in jail and is now out awaiting trial.  We don't really know what it was he wanted - we live in a really nice neighborhood where these things supposedly do not happen.  I am so thankful I was just able to fight him off - I'm 50 and have often wondered if I would be able to get the gumption to fight.  I found out I could.  For a week I was completely crazy about any sound outside and could not sleep.  Also, don't plan on a dog saving you.  My boxer-doberman mix who is quite fierce and barks at absolutely everything was asleep on my bed through the whole thing.

Anyway, bottom line, a warning.  The policemen told me that, in studies, 99 out of 100 people will open the door in the middle of the night if awoken, so they suggested having a somewhat complicated lock so at least you'll have a few extra seconds to think before you open that door.  We got a new lock the next day, but I can assure you, if anyone shows up at my door in the middle of the night, the cops will be called.

I have struggled with the same issues as you, "entertaining angels unawares" and all that, but I am so glad you did not get in the car with them.  Just typing this and telling the story once again has gotten me all anxious again.  I pray every day that the boy (and the men waiting in the car outside by the way) straighten up and turn their lives around.  That is the most I can give them.

We've been spared twice in two weeks...sm

here in tornado alley.  First time you could "hear the train a-comin", no elec for a day and a half and many trees down, blown right outta the ground, root balls and all....Second time, my grown son called and left a msg on the voice mail.."Hey mommy, the sirens are goin' off, just wanna make sure you and dad are safe...love you".  We have no basements here either...I can really relate.

To all ya'll out there in the devastation and horror, I  send good thoughts and hugs.    Cat

 Cat

We've done that! You can bring pets to my grandma's nursing home on certain days (sm)

You have to go through a little evaluation with your animal, but they have cat days and dog days and you can bring your pets.  Walter is a huge patient sweetie - 120 pounds of shiny black fur and muscle - he is quite young and very solid and built.  Some of the residents love him so much.  He will just slowly walk up to someone he feels might be receptive to him, and when they put their hand out he gets under it and next thing you know he has his big head in their lab and they are slowly petting him, over and over and over.  It is so heartwarming when you are watching.... I mean literally your heart is so full you can feel it in your throat.  I've had to hide my tears every time.

Sometimes a resident, usually a gentleman, will talk about a dog he used to have with the clearest memory.

A funny thing happened when Walter was getting some attention from a women in a wheelchair and he leaned against her and I saw her wheelchair was slowly being pushed across the lawn.

Brooke
Uhhh...!!! Know what I mean??? Can you say desperate???
Brooke will probably
And Ridge and Steph will get the kids for a while.  I really can't believe this even happened, thought this kind of storyline was a thing of the past for soaps.  So degrading to women...
Could be Brooke's eggs - (sm)
I was thinking that, but when would she have given them? Also Bridget involved?? -h-m-m-m food for thought.  Yes, watch Y&R (don't think Nick is dead either - I read he just signed a new 5-year contract).   I agree, nothing wrong with having a little daytime fantasy in our lives - LOL
So what is Brooke going to do after the rape? (sm)
I can only hope Stephanie finally gets what is coming to her.  Don't even know what, just hope she pays.
Love Brooke. Everyone has a bad night every
once in a while. There are several that were a lot worse last night.
Brooke confronted Stephanie about Ridge (sm)
Stephanie admitted to her what had happened.  Brooke went to call police so they could explain what happened, and Stephanie grabbed her from behind and wrapped a phone cord around her neck!!
well, I'm all ready!
slow with work today so went and stocked up on milk, drinking water, batteries and candles.  Going to type for one more hour and then going to finish the laundry and cook up a bunch of stuff just in case we do lose our electric.  We usually do when there is an ice storm.  Did someone say there is another storm coming Sunday?  Haven't heard about that one yet.  Wonder if it will hit Ohio too.  I need my electric!  I need to work!
Only when you are ready
It might be too soon for you to wear them, but you don't know how you might feel in the future. If it feels weird right now, put them away for awhile. In a year (or 2, or maybe never) you may want to wear them, but I don't think now is the time to make a decision either way.
Ready, set, go
Have short trip to Las Vegas with husband and then my own trips will be to Canada (Rockie Mountains, western part) for about 10 days, Washington, D.C. for a week and perhaps a gambling trip to Foxwoods & Newport but that is an iffy one.
I saw that too. He had that look like when he's about ready to BUST
l
Looks like you are ready to party.
I'll be right over. LOL Have a nice weekend. Plan on having a couple of cocktails myself. It has been a long week.
Let's get ready to..........transcribe! lol

Ready for round 2... sm
I have been seriously considering having it done a second time, which my doc had said might happen. Periods aren't *that* bad, I just don't want them any longer! ;)

My cousin had it done in the office and the pain was so excruciating, they had to stop the procedure. Apparently the machine was on trial, and they have since decided not to perform in-office procedures. Fortunately, she hasn't had a period since.

I highly recommend having it done. Best of luck to you.

Thank you. Will just wait until they are ready. nm

Christmas, not ready!
I can't believe I spent some of my grocery money to get a Christmas tree when I have nothing to put under it, duh.  Heck, I didn't change my calendar from November to December until December 12th.  Now I realize it is less than 10 days until Christmas.  Maybe I can go to the Dollar Store, lol  I guess there are a lot of people not ready money wise or mood wise this year, right?  Even watching the news is depressing to me, all the talk about donating and giving when I cannot do either this year.  I guess medical transcription is the wrong profession for me since I cannot make any more money than I could at a fast food place, lol, but I cannot figure out what to change it to.  Thanks for listening.
Wow, you are always ready to defend
your lack of self-control. If you have to use a credit card you CAN'T afford it. If you have to finance it, other than a house, you CAN'T afford it. When you use a CC you are not using your money, you are using someone else's. Just accept that some have a different opinion than you and you will get a negative reaction from time to time.
I agree. When he's ready, he'll want to do it.

I'm always ready to share pics of my dogs..sm
I'm going to be in real trouble when I have grandkids if I'm this crazy over my dogs - I do have two granddogs - Golden Retrievers, but no pictures of them to share at the moment.
to be cheap - I buy ready made blankets
big lots, target, saw them somewhere in an add for 2.50 in yesterday's paper - that does limit your size but I'm making them for no reason - it is very therapeutic for me - just really got into tying those knots - made them for my daughters at Christmas (adults) and now I am thinking it would be good to keep one in cars too, for trips and in case you got stuck and it was cold because they are warm!
I am more tired getting ready for a holiday than if I were to work are you?

I don't know about this "Easter Bunny" business.  I have today off and there is not much work anyway, so I decided to get ready for Sunday (I have 3 little kids).  All I did so far today was go get my daughter a dress, and my boy an outfit, got all the basket stuff together and put them together.  Then, I worked on me, day of beauty stuff, hair, etc.  I have not worked today, yet doing these things I am exhausted! And I still have to dust, vacuum, declutter office, and bake a cake. Not to mention clean my sons' bathroom (eewwwww).  I am putting all that off until tomorrow. Does anyone else find that although transcribing can lead to fatigue at times that doing chores and getting ready for holidays is more tiring?

Ugggg, calgon take me away.... Happy Spring Holidays everyone!

Are you ready to be brave? Take a deep breath...
Then do it and close your eyes real tight and be glad the minute you have done it (calling to have him picked up for psych eval) Then once you have him out of the house you can keep him out with a court order. Your life will improve. Are you Ready???? Be BRAVE! I was!!!
Amy, your halo is ready anytime you want to pick it up! //

Anyone move from a single family home to mobile home? sm

I own and live in a house in a midwest city in a bad neighborhood (wasn't that bad 11 years ago).  I spent the day waiting for the plumber to come and jackhammer the foundation (slab house, no basement) to find a leaky pipe that is flooding my DD's bedroom. Last week, it was the electrician with quotes for costly repairs.

In the meantime, I've really been thinking about selling out and moving into a mobile home.  Has anyone done this before?  Is a mobile home in a decent park less of a hassle than a regular house?  I'm so tired of cutting the grass and spending $$ to fix things and tired of old flooring and cabinets, etc., that are just too costly to replace.  I'm single with no man to do these things for me and I can't afford a mortgage on a newer house in a good neighborhood.  Some of the pictures I've seen of the mobile homes look really nice and modern on the inside.

Any advice and comments appreciated.  Thanks!

Well I figure I can make my own hours & be home when the kids are home (sm)
I worked PT in an office for a while but spent most of my money on childcare in the summer. Full-time in an office was just a nightmare and I felt like I missed a whole year of my children's lives. I want to be in control of my schedule so that's why I'm looking into the cleaning thing. Never thought I would want to do that but live and learn! Some of the most intelligent people alive work as carpenters and similar things because they have learned what's really important in life. Whew....off my soapbox now :-) Good luck to you!
I'm getting ready to buy a fixer upper and do all my decorating and designing myself. SM

So I've been watching him and a lot of the other HGTV design shows, etc.  I want to save money, but I want everything too look expensive, ya know?

I loved what he did with the silk too, but problem is I don't sew.  I don't even know how to operate a sewing machine, soooooooo anybody wanna make a buck?  :)

This is one of my favorite holidays. Not a lot of stress and bother to celebrate it like some of the others. Just relax, wear green and sip on a cold green beer later today.

I'm getting ready to make a boxed cake mix, but I'm out of veggie oil

Can I substitute melted margarine for the oil?  I don't have any applesauce.  I do have some Miracle Whip, but wasn't sure about it.  I don't want to go to the grocery store.  I'm at home alone, kids are gone, I'm working and feeling pretty productive, and then BAM the PMS chocolate attack strikes and and me without a Hershey bar in sight!  So I thought I would whip up a devil's food cake mix and get back to work.

We have a turtle. She is a red-eared slider named...are you ready?? Skurtle. sm
Our son named her. She is about 5 years old now. She started out the size of a silver dollar and has progressively increased in tank size. She started in a 5 gallon tank and is now in a 125 gallon breeder's tank. If I had known then what I know now.....LOL. She has a night and day light, she has her basking light, and she has a UV A&B light since turtles to not manufacture calcium themselves. She will eat those little feeder goldfish out of our hands and will eat her normal turtle stick food from our hands too. We have a TON of her plates or whatever it is they call the things on the shell from when she was just little to now from when she sheds them. It is really interesting to watch her just live the life of a turtle. Eat, sleep, poop, and swim.
here's the list...it would be great if this country were ready for a female or black prez...

Daniel had a home, a very good home...
with someone in my family at one point.

She met her late husband at a club down the freeway from me. It's not a fancy place, like you say.

She does have a real brother though. That was the connection on our part.

I agree, though. It is sad that all this is coming out the way it is. I believe she was a good person...she just had a lot of problems, mainly drugs. What is really sad is that all of this is going to be seen by her daughter one day when she grows up.
Home Alone 1, A Christmas Story, Home for the Holidays, Chevy Chase's Christmas, sm
There "The Gift of the Magi," He sells his gold watch to buy her a comb for her hair and she sells her beautiful long hair to buy him a chain for his gold watch. It used to be on "Short Stories by O'Henry" but that's long gone, long ago. Good moral to the story. I can't stand "It's a Wonderful Life" -- too depressing, especially with banks closing, too intimidating right now!!!
It has only been two weeks, it will get better.
Maybe do more fun things with your kids, as they're probably upset right now too. You are lucky to have them and four is a blessing. And for yourself, how about joining a bowling league, a gym, or taking a craft or cooking class etc....just something to occupy your time and meet other adults and new friends. You may even meet others in the same situation and that always helps. And always remember how much better your kids lives will be in the long run being out of that kind of situation. That may help you to not be tempted to take your husband back because you are lonely, because that does happen and it's understandable. It's a long time to be with someone. Best of luck to you.
Yes, used now for over 3 weeks and
think it smells good, other than that I have not seen any change at all in the hair situation, still falling out.....
Only used them for about 1-2 weeks when they - sm
were newborns. Personally I don't think they should be used for long at all or they become dependent on them (tops 2-3 months when newborn). I know someone who has a 3-y/o who walks about with one in his mouth 24/7; can't understand him at all even when he does take it out of his mouth to talk, major speech issues I think because of it. I feel bad for him, angry with her for being lazy and not trying to get him to transfer his need for a security object to something less destructive. One of mines has a doll and blanket that are her security things, and the other and old teething toy that is a cat from Right Start with all the rubber "feet" cut off, still sleeps with it at 8, both are well-behaved and mentally developed kids with no issues of any sort.
I used to get one every 2 weeks...
I just called a local service and had 2 sisters come every other Friday. We paid them $75 plus $10 tip. We just now cancelled the service and decided to put that money in our savings account and do the cleaning ourselves:-) We had to get the house totally cleaned up anyway the night before, which was pretty stressful. It was good, though, for the year we did it. They brought their own equipment and dusted and cleaned the whole house except for the basement. We'll use them for parties like the one we're having this month, but that's it. Just check your local paper and call a few. Ask questions to see if they fit your needs. You can have them come every day if you want, once a week, every 2 weeks, or once a month, whatever you need. Good luck!
I have someone come every two weeks

She does basic cleaning - dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms. I pay her $75 each time. She has basically a one-woman business that she is just getting started up. I found her listing in the local newspaper and lucked out, because she is a really super lady and I enjoy having her here to talk to, since my husband and I are "empty-nesters" and I am home alone working all day.

As far as what you should pay, I think the area where you live and the cost of living needs to be taken into consideration. I would expect to pay someone in New York City or Los Angeles more than I would pay someone in a small Midwest town, for example.

Just my two cents.

I go to one every 3-4 weeks - sm
and when I was looking for one I asked a friend who went to one on a regular basis. As stated below there are the rip-off ones who do all this fancy garbage that does absolutely nothing. My friend said to go to a "straight" chiropractor (no clue what that means, guess it is how they practice, and one that graduated from Palmer school of Chiropracty (Sp?), pretty sure it was Palmer, if I am wrong I will post a correction. Mine is very reasonable, $45 a visit (my insurance covers it 100%). I too started out 2-3 x a week, then tapered down to 1 a week, then every 2 weeks, and now do every 3-4 weeks. I have not been for about 8 weeks now because I hurt my shoulder but it is all better now so I will probably start going again. It feels great to get the back cracked, gets so tight from sitting here all the time.
I think just a few weeks at most ... sm

I don't intend to keep the car for long.  Last night we had decided until the end of the semester.  After talking with it I am waffling about taking it at all.  I am sure he will have it back by Thanksgiving.  Thank you.
