I agree - insurance companies are in it for big bucks (sm)
Even if they made the obese pay extra they wouldn't give the rest of us a discount anyway. Who are you kidding? Do you really think they are on our side any more than the pharmaceutical companies? Do you know much about managed care and how it affects our industry? Insurance companies make a mint and they try to share as little of it as possible.
Thank you. Couldn't agree more. No class.

I agree. The Goldman family is a class act. They
deserve justice for their son and this is finally a feather in their cap.  The sight of that moron Simpson makes my blood boil.  Mr. personality can now give that big Colgate smile to his cell mate in prison.  How will he ever continue the search he said he would be on to find the real killer of Nicole and Ron now that he will be incarcerated?  What a joke and what ignorance of the people who let him slip through the first time around.
Get out when not working - exercise class, knitting group, book discussions, cooking class, library

I disagree. I still have my class ring (class of 1985). It's tucked away in my jewelry...

box.  My fingers are too fat to wear it now, but it has sentimental value.  Mine was just a metal ring as well and it still looks great.

I gave my class ring to a boyfriend back in the day and it wore it on his pinky.  Then he lost it on the beach at the local lake.  We ended up breaking up not too long after that and I thought I would never see my ring again.  Then one day I'm reading the local paper and there's an add that said "LORI -- did you lose your class ring at city lake?  Call... and describe the ring."  I called the number and described the ring and it was mine.  Thankfully I had had my full name inscribed inside the band of my class ring!  The guy that found it was this little old man who had a one of those metal detectors and he spent his retirement days scanning beaches, parks, etc for change and what other treasures he could find.  I couldn't thank him enough!  He wouldn't take any kind of reward for finding it.

Just thought I'd share my class ring story.  I feel that class rings, class keys (Do they still do that?), and yearbooks are such an important part of the high school years, but that's just me.

I agree. You need to talk to teacher, possibly higher up.

Rachel Ray is worse
Get the woman a muzzle and some valium. Good grief her voice goes through me like chalk on a chalkboard.
re: Pulling
I understand about the hair pulling.  My niece is now 14 and has trichotillomania. She has been pulling her hair out since the age of 2.  She seems to not do it as much anymore, unless she is doing underneath long places to cover up the bald spots.  She did it worse under times of stress, and it was always worst around the holidays.  good luck to you.
Anyway cook using Rachel Ray's recipes? sm
I'm always looking to try something different and her 30 minute meals sure look tasty and easy.
Don't care for Paula Dean or Rachel Ray.
I don't like the heavy type of food that Paula Dean cooks. And forgive me, but I find her voice and accent grating on my nerves. I much prefer Giada DeLaurentis. It's nice that the Food Network has such variety. There's something for everyone.
Rachel Ray also drives me nuts with her voice.
I like the woman who does Barefoot Contessa, calm and relaxed with a soothing way about her.
Epicurious.com, Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart, etc. sm
Google away, I will look up some recipes but sometimes the latest are good also and "tested," I have tried some oldies which did not turn out well, be sure they are "tested" first. Get back to you if I can find some I pre-tested. Good idea, love home baked or home made items, shows you care!
Sounds like he is a negative weight pulling you

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.  I agree with what some others said about at least taking some time apart to see how things go.  I also agree with consulting with a family law attorney.  Almost all attorneys have free consultations, so you could talk to several lawyers for free and find one you feel comfortable with.  They often give free advice before you even hire them (the one I worked for did anyway).

It stinks that your husband is so insistent about keeping the house, but if you do end up divorcing it may be hard for you to live there anyway with all the memories, so a new place might be good for you.  It would be hard on your kids for sure, but it is probably hard for them to see their mother belittled and to witness a seemingly loveless marriage as well.

Maybe your husband doesn't want to focus on his own shortcomings so he is focusing on yours or maybe he is just too much of a perfectionist and too selfish.  Have you guys tried counseling?

If you do end up spending time apart you might end up feeling incredibly free without someone constantly telling you how WRONG you are when in fact you are only human and have flaws like everyone else.  He obviously has flaws too, and I would bet money his place would not be spotless and perfectly "organized" if you weren't there to clean it for him!  He probably has no idea how hard you work.  You deserve to be loved unconditionally, and even if you guys break up and you don't date anyone for awhile, at least he won't be there trying to dampen your self confidence and the love you have for yourself.  Good luck and stay strong!!!

is there a difference between foil highlights and pulling through cap sm

I've had both these done to my hair before.  I'm just wondering, does one dry hair out more than the other?  Seems to me when I have highlights done pulled through the cap, my hair seems dry.

Thanks

Our dog bit a girl "that was pulling his hurt ear"

Well the girl's foster parents sued my parents' homeowners and they got their money.  So, you need to contact the police again and find out how you can go about filing a claim.  My parents' homeowners insurance went up after that, even though the little girl "provoked" the dog.  The provoked part didn't matter.  So, I guess what I am trying to say here is that my parents were "your neighbors" and they got sued and their insurance premium went up.  We're going back quite a few years, but I'd bet those people that own that dog will lose their homeowners once you sue.

I would have to bet though that the "foster parents" of the bitten dog probably got legal assistance for free too, since they had about 10 foster kids and were getting a fat check each month and obviously not supervising these kids for that girl to have pulled my dog's ear.  My dog jumped our fence and cut his ear, that girl pulled on the dog's ear, yet the police said that my parents were still responsible for the bite.  I highly doubt that child really need the surgery and probably never even got the surgery, but those foster parents I'm sure took that check right to the bank.

That may sound harsh and by all means I know that not all foster parents are irresponsible, but in my opinion, my parents got the raw end of the deal.

Good luck whatever you decide.

So in other words, reward him for pulling this crap?
Not me. I would confront the situation head-on & nip it in the bud. Otherwise, it will just happen again with another woman.
Thanks for asking! Probably around 50 bucks.

Rachel Ray had the cutest looking french toast cups yesterday. sm
She soaked the bread in eggs, milk, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon mixture and put the bread into a muffin pan so that they made a little cup (you cut a slit in the bread and it forms a cup when put in the muffin hole). Baked them and then filled them with fruit and topped with maple syrup and bacon pieces. Looked really good. I am going to try that this year!
Why it costs 400 bucks
They make custom trays for you, which last pretty much forever or until your teeth move significantly, whichever comes first. Then you just buy the tubes of bleaching gel, which is not that expensive. The custom trays are wonderful. They are held on tightly by the gel. My dentist charged $300 and the gel was $35 a box, which is 4 tubes, which is a LOT of gel.

I would not have the trays made right away if she has just gotten her braces off, as from what I hear her teeth are likely to shift somewhat.
lots of bucks and how do we know?
Yes, 8000 a month sounds great. I wonder how this story got out originally. Did the doctors just hold a news conference or did someone at the hospital blab? Does anyone remember how we all heard about this in the first place?
90 bucks sounds more like it (sm)
The dentist I take my son to quoted me $172 to possibly $282, depending on if they decided to do more x-rays. Thanks for the info.
What saved the folks on the edge was pulling up the emergency brake

Remember you are paying him big bucks
My nephew is a mortgage broker and they make good money -- put in a lot of time but that 1 to 3% loan initiation fee can be quite steep.  It is not like they are doing a favor for you so speak up.  Go above his head ask to talk with a supervisor, anything.  Be nice about it but remember you are paying him a lot of money and so he is working for you and so speak up.  You don't have to be nasty but tell him your concerns and ask that you speak to his supervisor.   Good luck.
capital gains = probably big bucks.

Our 1200 bucks will come by check, but I..
am on vacation for the next month so it will be a treat to be able to pay the vacation off with that when it does come in!
Googled it, glad it's only 20 bucks - thanks!!

Santa Cruz, CA. Fifty bucks got me 3/4 tank in my 4 Runner @ 3.93/gallon. Plus... sm

There is a $50 limit at the gas pumps for credit cards... so could not fill it all the way up!  That's kinda lame... (I get cash rebate so using that for gas always).  My 4Runner is not too bad on a gas for a truck... not like a Honda though.  But at least my dog can hang is head out the rear window!

Did ya ever just wanna talk about nuthin' just to talk?

As I said before in another post, I miss everyone so much...

So, I have absolutely NOTHING to talk about.  Love my new job, love that spring is on the way, and I love that my belly is absolutely filled up with pancakes my husband kindly made for me just now...even though it's lunchtime and not breakfast.  I'm one of those freaks that could eat breakfast-type foods at every meal.

...and that reminds me that it's almost that time of year to order some baby chicks for next month.  Laying hens, not for meat or anything, just eggs and entertainment.  I can't wait for warm weather--it's been a long HARSH winter this year.  In fact, I think we're due for another ice storm at the end of the week.

I hope everyone who stops by to read my note about nothing finds themselves and their families in good health.  Miss you all, even the ones that can't stand seeing that "Hayseed" name up there.

Go try it, talk, talk and listen sm
Counselors are trained to "listen" and direct you to talk (not them). I have transcribed many, many mental health reports. They do dig deep and keep it going for a very long time, very long, usually (perhaps not for you). But if you both don't tell the truth, you are wasting your money, so why not just get it all out on the table and get it over with and get on with your lives? Don't pussy foot around, get it all out and deal with it. Gosh, life is too short to put on a show, it's not a dress rehearsal, it's life. Go forward, forgive, forget and forge ahead. Don't need a degree for that!! But a little help can't hurt. Might help.
2/3 class
I'm a former school teacher. As a matter of fact, I did my student teaching in a split 3rd/4th grade class. It was wonderful! It was the twice the work and preparation, but the kids were fantastic.

Kids selected for split classes are usually the best behaved, most independent workers in the class, so you should be bursting with pride that you daughter has been selected. Every other kid in the making the adjustment and will be meeting new kids, too, so I wouldn't worry about a 2nd grader being put in a new environment. Kids are extremely resilient and if she's smart, independent and motivated enough to be put in a split class, she'll more than meet the challenge of adapting to her new school environment.

Let us know how she does, OK?
Gas in Class
Yes I agree! These schools should get back to teaching! This is unreal! Getting punished for something your body does naturally? I don't think so!
you are not low class....
that poster was being rude. I feel for you. Keep being you and don't feel sorry for that! I think you are a hoot!
I'd let her out of the class. (sm)
Why break her spirit and make her lose her enthusiasm for school.
Don't kid yourself. If you had any class at all,
you wouldn't have posted your sarcastic and now condesdending remarks. You wouldn't know a standard if it walked up and slapped you in the face, at least not in this context.
maybe i have no class
and maybe i have no standards, but at least i know that i definitely would not want that man
Ballet class :) sm
My daughter (now 8) has been in ballet since she was 3 years old. Of course, the first couple of years they do spend learning how to stay in line, twirling around, etc BUT they begin learning the basics which is great! You will see her progress over the years if she stays in it. My daughter participate in The Nutcracker this year and she is now really in love with ballet. She only had 2 small parts but she thougth it was the best thing in the world she has done so far. She is also on a competition cheer team and ballet beat it out. :)
Maybe that ESL could give a class
on "Keeping Your Transcriptionist Happy"!
New Class Rules
I have 2 children and neither have to the best of my knowledge done this in a classroom.  However, if there is a medical issue behind this I do not believe the child should be punished.  I do agree it is rude if done on purpose but I do not believe that was the situation wiht the original poster.  When I have parent teacher meetings I am praised up and down because my children are the best behaved in the class so I do not believe my personal parenting skills are an issue here.  I think everyone is making way too much out of this.  Boys will be boys.  Sooner or later they will out grow the behavior.  Maybe the problem with the world today is that kids cannot just be kids anymore?  Things are different now then they were years ago.  I cannot remember school shootings or threats at my school.   Twice my daughter was sent home because of a bomb scar.  This never happened when I was in school.  The world is different now and if the worst a kid does in class is burp or pass gas I think the teachers should be grateful.
Passing Gas in Class
Yes you have made a good point. I just do not think that a child with a medical condition should be punished. I think others without a medical condition need to learn some maners. Thank goodness I have never had to deal with this sort of thing. Knock on wood.
parenting class . . .
My husband and I recently took on Love and Logic classes. I am the type of person that is always looking to improve on things, though, so I don't have a problem with it. What's wrong with being a better parent?
Joe Namath was in my class nm

swim class

Hi trose,

Thank you for being so thoughtful and asking about swim class....Many responded, gave some great ideas, shared personal experiences and were still concerned about the outcome.

class rings
It really depends on what you/she want and can afford, how important/cherished you think it will be, how she/you believe it represents the high school experience, etc.

I think I spent close to $400 on my daughter's class ring. Actually the ex and I split it, but I believe it was in that range.

It is really nice and she still wears it. She says she will always wear it. It has lots of little things on it that reflect the activities she participated in while in high school. Good memories. She put a lot of thought into personalizing it. It was actually a lot like my HS ring which I lost at the beach a year after I got it :-(

We didn't get a lot of extras, but did get 10K gold which is what shot the price up so much. It is a substantial ring even though it's the female version (smaller than the male one -- be happy you're not buying for a boy lol).

Anyhow good luck :-)

my mom was UPPER class and did same to Pop

they loved doing that zit-picking thing........*lol* - not me.....hot compresses will do very nicely....they can pop on their own....

but you're not alone - and it's not low class as the poster below said...in their opinion.....

but it is GROSS........YUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  *lol*

nice to see ya back, Hayseed.......I see that piggy of yours on your webcam occasionally!!

Some show some class...
Though she's been everyone's joke, it seems, at least here's one person who's not trashing her.

This was a monologue from 10 months ago. Best thing on TV.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=7bbaRyDLMvA
If that is middle-class then I have to be
below the poverty level.
I would say something to the teacher of the class
They should be the one to stop this chick from preventing other kids from having one.

I wouldn't say anything to her parents, though. That is the teacher's job if they feel so inclined to do so.
Why isn't the teacher of the class saying something as it happens? nm
x
We should all be as "low class"

You go girl.  I've been in a funk and you just inspired me to look around and see that it's not all that bad.  I have my own home, I have pets that I adore most of the time, I have a great family.  No kids, but never wanted them.  My neighbors are great and most of the time I like what I do to earn a living.

Everything else is just outside distraction.

I took a class and was very surprised...
I knew the actual delivery would hurt, but really had no idea how badly the contractions would hurt. I am really not sure what I expected, but not the gut wrenching pain that I got. I did make it through 48 hours of very difficult labor before I opted for the epidural, though.
