I totally love Paula Dean sm

In Reply to: Savannah, GA - sm

2:30 and waited for about an hour and a half. Hubby and kids went on siteseeing and I had my son's IPod and also talked to several people in line. (btw, I went in July so it was incredibly hot) you actucally will pass a bar (depening on where you are in line) and there is a sign that says "aren't you glad you can have beer on the streets" or something like that. You can get small cups of water at the check-in window but have someone hold your place in line. I can not say that I would stand in line again. I expected the presentation to be a bit more. Food was good, but not the best I have ever had. If you don't mind waiting I sort of think it is worth it just to say you have been there. Right outside of Savannah is her brother's restaurant "Uncle Bubba's". We loved that. We didn't have reservations but only waited about 20-25 minutes. We also took a haunted tour (kids loved it) this was one that actucally toured a graveyard plus a house. We really thought is was worth it. Also, down by the river the street performers (some, not all) were really quite entertaining. Have a wonderful trip.

I only watch Paula Dean sm
She is the best. I can watch her show and not get distracted and anxiety-driven like some of the other shows. Rachel Ray drives me nuts with the way she talks with her hands, even on her talk show. Her voice is even annoying. I do like that gal from Semi-homemade, though. She's easy to watch.
Don't care for Paula Dean or Rachel Ray.
I don't like the heavy type of food that Paula Dean cooks. And forgive me, but I find her voice and accent grating on my nerves. I much prefer Giada DeLaurentis. It's nice that the Food Network has such variety. There's something for everyone.
I love Dean Koontz but it sounds like
that's not what your are looking for.  How about Barbara Kingsolver - The Bean Trees or Ann B. Ross - The Miss Julia series?
Totally love lighthearted chick lit. sm
sometimes we just need a break from something "too deep". I love reading in magazines when they ask the "stars" what are you reading. No one ever says "Jackie Collins or Jennifer Weiner". Yeah, right. Many of these are what movies are made of. I wonder how many "stars" admitted to ready Bridget Jones Diary before it became a movie.
I totally love APOLO ANTON OHNO! (sm)
I watched every stroke of his skating wins at the Olympics, and when I heard he was going to be on the show, I knew that he would do well. (Superb balance and quick feet - also marks of a great skater!) His only problem may be getting in enough practice time - but if he can get that, he has a good chance to go all the way.

Too bad they had to mention with every other breath that Heather Mills only had one leg. If you hadn't told me beforehand, and I just saw her dance in the competition, I'd have never known she had an artificial leg at all. Her coach's choreography was wonderful, allowing her do kicks while standing on the more reliable 'good' leg. She is an elegant dancer - I hope she goes all the way to the finals, too.
I'm oddly amused by the Jimmy Dean ads,
the one where the father's job is working as the sun. He is the sun, and he gets no respect, and yet he's the only one who is happy in the ads.

Our family recipe always had pork sausage (i.e. Jimmy Dean). nm

Amen Sister! She is totally unrealistic! Totally. Loved your post! sm
My grandparents (from VT), will tell you that my grandfather began farming at 6-7 under the supervision of his 10 year old brother. haha No major incidents - his mother tended the home and ran a nursery and she did have the siblings watch over each other. I didn't even think about all of this until you mentioned the farming post. I loved it!

I, for one, need plenty of sleep - so I must work during the day while they are here...Oops, I gottah go! My 2 year old just fell off the kitchen table.

just kidding
Hey Paula
Did you see her reality show Hey Paula? It showed the last time she was on HSN and she was really "loopy", she blamed it on no sleep.
What did you think about Paula's sm
performance last night?  With all her back problems she can still move.
Paula on AI
She sure can move, and she looks great, but the sound was over synthesized or whatever you call it. It's the same way Brittany Spears sings. It sounds so mechanical and robotic.
I'd like to do what Paula Deen is doing . . .

Have a successful family restaurant, be on the cooking channel.  I'd specialize in vegetarian gourmet cooking.

Paula Deen
I like Paula Deen very much but on the last show I saw she acted like she had had too much to drink. She made punch and she was drinking through a straw out of the punch bowl. At the same time her bird was also drinking out of the punch bowl.
Same here; especially Paula's food...
I say to my husband it's no wonder she looks like that - look what she's making now. lol. I don't care for all that fat either. I looked up her recipes and found chicken pot pie, fried bisquits, deep fried turkey, fried cream corn!, deep fried cheesecake!, macaroni and cheese, fried empanadas with cheese dip! Do people down south really eat like that? I probably eat stuff like that twice a year.
AI Paula's outfit what did you think sm

I thought it was not appropriate for the show.  I am suprised no one made a remark on the sho.

Paula Abdul on HSN now....I think she's...

intoxicated.  Or  is she always like that?

Got this from Paula Deen's cookbook--
it is great but only thing I do not like is that it does not reheat well

4 c macaroni
2 c grated cheddar cheese
3 egs, beaten
1/2 c sour cream
4 T butter
1/2 t salt
1 c milk

cook and drain macaroni. combine remaining ingredients, add to macaroni. bake 30-45 minutes. top with more cheese.
I am seriously worried about Paula Deen

Every time I see her on her show, she looks bigger and bigger.

Poor lady, she is so sweet, I really like her show, but she just uses an obscene amount of butter... so so fattening. I don't see how she going to make it, eating the way she does. Yikes.

Everything she makes looks delicious but I know I can't make or eat any of it!

I saw on Paula Deen I think that they are injecting
I think it was on Paula Deen on foodtv I saw them injecting melons with vodka/liquor and I thought it was a fabulous summertime idea!!
Paula finally came clean
I saw on the Today show today that Paula FINALLY admitted that she was addicted to pain pills and is now clean.  Duh, like we didn't know something was up even when she denied it.   She does seem better this year although still annoying.
I used to not like Paula, but compared to Cara,
I love Paula. I hope they get rid of that new judge before the next season... Ugh.

Exactly, I think Kara should go and Randy, Paula and Simon should stay
like it was before.

Chris will go today!
I LOVE love love shallots! I use them in everything that calls for an onion and/or garlic. Mmmmmm. n

Totally, totally agree.
You feel inadequate and no matter what you do - you feel like it is not enough - and that is depression. Get on some medication, or get some therapy and start taking time for yourself and enjoy life. Been there and done that myself - STOP FEELING GUILTY - you deserve better!!
American Idol - Love, love, love Adam!!!
I think he'll make it til the end! At least I hope so!

My niece had a Yorkie, the love of her life! We all loved her so. Lots of love in store for you.

Love movie "A Christmas Story" when dogs eat the turkey and they go out for Chinese. We love d
nm
She's sweet. I think she's gorgeous. Love her hair. Love her sm
smile. I wish I looked that great! I don't even come close, so who am I do judge? I admire beauty greatly in other women...I envy them!
sweet....love the heart charm, he's got love.
nm
God bless you on your path, all love begins with self-love, so you are really on your way.....sm
We should have less time putting needless labels on things, paying attention to dividing lines, and pratice more love, understanding, and humiility....we will all have things to answer for, no one is perfect, but I believe we are all precious and loved by the Lord, who knows all hearts, and has infinitely more compassion and mercy than ANY of us can comprehend. Be happy and take care of yourself, sexuality is such a small part of who we are in this world, but you have to be happy and at peace.
I love the animal channel, really love it and
my sweetie and I both watch but I absolutely, even if I know nature and the balance of, want to see small animals being killed and eaten and so forth. I know it happens but I either change the station or pick up the paper and read or find another way so I don’t watch. Also watch Discovery, love animals and love those shows!
I love you! hahaha I love your response! You can come over here sm
and kick my butt the next time I "allow" my husband to make me feel crap for whatever reason - which there seems to be many - he wouldn't complain if I made more money than him because his lazy behind wants to stay home and do nothing all day except to play golf. He tells me all the time, "when are you going to own your MT business so I can golf all day."

But, he is very mean, also. He hurts my feelings constantly and doesn't even care. He makes me drive around in his truck with bald tires and I don't like doing that for fear of a blow out and he'll just tell me, "well, don't go anywhere then." We have the money in the bank to get new tires, but he won't get them.

I love your comment, though!

And for all of you who will say, "well, leave the jerk!" It isn't that easy. We have 3 boys and I would be homeless. I only make 300 every 2 weeks MTing. We have a lovely home with a lot of space and besides him living here, the kids and I LOVE it and love each other so much.
Well, I LOVE a challenge too, Would love to debate this one day with you! sm
haha

Seriously, I was a staunch atheist for 20+ years. It's funny, though. I, too, believe that we are all electrical energies and that energy doesn't "die" and so, theoretically, where does your "electricity" go when you die, i.e., your spirit? I believe that "energy" within us is our spirit life - and that must go somewhere, right? It doesn't just go into the groun - which is what I thought for so long.

Anyways, when I learned about our "energy" and how it must go somewhere, I was really testing the waters of Christianity up to that point. After hearing about that, I was convinced that there must be an afterlife. I believe we go either of 2 places.

Anyways, I love ALL people of all religions, regardless of what I "think" or "believe." I don't think any less of you because of your beliefs! If I were to believe in a God who forgave me and loved me in my mut and mire, who am I to judge and criticize those who think differently of me?

I've always liked you no matter what your philosophy on life was....
Love people who love dogs.

I love the dressing and I love lemon pie..sm
My mom's lemon pie that is. I also love this dessert called Texas Delight or some people call it different things but is is layers of chocolate pudding and cream cheese and whipped cream. The food is my favorite part besides the watching my son open presents on x-mas.
Young love/older love
I think it has a lot to do with your age and his. I married hubby at age 59 and he was 49. Best thing I ever did but say if you are 30 and he is 20, hmmm in that case might not be so workable. What are the ages here?
Totally against the war
said it right from the start, told my husband the war was of no use, more and more that is being proven true, hate that young guys are being killed there day after day, the middle east never had as many bombings as they do on a day to day basis now, blood being shed all over the place, the house not wanting to give more money for a no win war, I lived through Viet Nam, no difference here, just different land. Mark my word, different president, the war will be a thing of the past and yet all these fine lives lost.
I am totally
terrified of the draft. I posted earlier about my son wanting to go to Africa next summer and me not really wanting to let him go. I guess you know what my answer would be to the above question so I guess I shouldn't say anything at all.
I was totally going to say
me too!

Oh, but what I've gained ...

(I'll think of something).
Totally think it is really none of your
business that they are working. You don't have any authority and your supervisor is the one to tell them NOT to work. If they have been told not to work and they are, that is between them and the employer.
totally.
My imagination is way too fertile. When someone tells me they are "trying to get pregnant" or they remember the moment their kids were conceived, it's exactly like showing me photos of the deed. Photos I'd way rather not see. ick.
I totally get what you are saying sm
and feel 100% the same way. If I had the means financially, I would help whomever and whenever, my hubby feels the same. However, to not respond to someone who is reaching out to you, I feel, is unforgivable. I would also like to say, give it some more time - you don't know what the situation is and I feel someone who has as big a heart as you obviously have, should hold it open just a little longer.
Give her love, love, love and if she...
doesn't want medicine - don't force it. Does she like to be stroked or does she like her belly rubbed? You better than anyone else know how to make her feel loved. Give her that. If her times comes before Monday, all the better for you and her. She'll die peacefully in her loving home. But, if not, be prepared to give her the last loving gesture you can - if it's time to, than let her go.

I had to put my 13 year old Lab down two months ago. It is one of the hardest things to do. But, you'll know when it's time. My dog, Shadow, told me he was done, tired, beat. He sent me the message quite clearly. But, still I waited, not for him but for me! Finally I "heard: him and did what needed to be done. I sobbed for hours and then just suddenly stopped, I realized I was crying for me - not for him! He had had a wonderful loving home with "mom and dad and brother". He was old and tired and wanted to rest. He deserved that rest! So, it's done. Yeah, I'm still sad. But I know that it was the right thing to do. And, yeah, call me nuts if you want - I know that when it's my time that Shadow will come running, knock me over, sit down on my chest and lick me silly!

Now, I'll go and give my cat lots of love and remember the fun I had with Shadow. My thoughts are with you - make the best of the time you have with your loved one's, be them human or furry! My thoughts are with you.
Totally agree. nm
.
Totally agree with you!
Santa Claus was a wonderful time for me and my children. I did not suffer any ill effects from knowing the truth. This is a magical time for children. They believe in goblins, ghosts, the Easter Bunny, play friends that only they can see and talk with, fairies among lots of others. Why in the world would anyone want to deny a child the pleasure of thinking they are that important that this man in the red suit is coming especially to give them presents. It really made me feel special but I guess other parents want to cut some of the fun time from the child's life. How sad....
I totally agree with you, well said.
I find that others think since I work at home, they can interrupt me any time they want, I am expected to cover things while they are at work, etc.  I want to be left alone during my work hours to do my work.  I have worked in offices where you were not allowed to have personal calls during work hours, which is fairly common.  I think I am going to disconnect my phone during my work hours.  Sometimes I feel by working at home I don't get the same respect for my job than others in my home that work outside the home.
Totally inappropriate.

He sounds like he's good at his job and also at flirting.  He is interested in getting to know you better?  Why doesn't he just come out and say - hey baby, how about a roll in the hay?  Keep us posted if you pursue this.  I'd like to know how things go.  Believe me, he knows he's good looking.   Good Luck and be careful.

Oh, I totally agree with you there...sm
these are the kids my daughter deals with every day, but she understands at their age, they didn't ask for their circumstances. No child at age 8 or 9 should know anything about sex, using the B word, MF word, and other stuff. They can't write a sentence but they can tell her how to get more food stamps, how their older sister had another baby so she could get more money in her check....the stories go on and on. But the point we started out with was GI upset...they can't help being made take meds that make them physically sick.
I am totally out of debt -
house, cars, motorcyles, credit cards. Everything!

It feels great!
