I had my first cavity at 35 . . .

but I had my wisdom teeth out in an OR under general when I was 30. That was worse than cavities. I'm 46 and have had only 3 cavities in my life, but it's not terrible. Maybe you can take some music with you and listen with earphones. Some dentists allow that. It helps to be distracted if you're nervous.

Your first cavity at 30?
You should really get down on your knees and say thank you, not worrying about 1 cavity. I am more than twice your age and my entire mouth has literally been replaced, first by fillings, then bridging, caps and now am in the process of having 1 tooth completely replaced by an implant. While in high school I was making regular visits to the dentist for fillings. Life is way too short to worry about 1 small cavity.
I'm almost 27 and have never had a cavity - SM
When I was around 6 years old, my parents had me get sealants, so that helped a great deal. I just feel very fortunate to have never had a cavity!

I've never had a needle in my mouth, does it really hurt? I hate needles!  It's a small cavity and he said it would be done in 15 minutes?!
