I took every narotic you can think of. lortab helped me the best without knocking me out. FYI, it did cause nausea so then i backed down to half a tablet. everything else put me to sleep. i did take BC Powder two of them and that helped some, but gave me an ulcer too so guess you gotta decide what is worse. for me, not being able to work was worse so i needed relief. i also used a heating pad and rice sock when i had to stay away. nothing took the pain totally away though. finally got a medrol dosepak and it cleared up for the severe part anyway. at least i can function now. email me........

One major suggestion
I would not be consulting juvenile authorities for a 6-year-old's behavior issues.

At this age, she needs to be seen by a child psychologist or psychiatrist who can diagnose the issue and outline a treatment plan.

This is not an unusual problem. She is a child and a conscious is something that is instilled by caretakers...it is not an automatic self development.

Please seek care for her behaviorally - not in the courts at this age.
Don't Do IT!! Are we related? I swear
my husband and I have the same situation - except his sister is in her 40s. If they are living with him, they can take care of him. Otherwise...if they are not able to care for him, what example are they going to be for your child? What environment for you all to live in? The father made his choice, and now, sadly, he can live with it.
not telemarketer related, but someone had
Our exchange was 664 and Bambi's was 663. Every Saturday and Sunday mornings I would get phone calls from guys she had given out her number to the night before at bars. For months I would try to give them the right number, but kept getting the same phone calls. I realized she was giving MY number to the losers she didn't want to hear from.

That was when I changed my tactics. I started asking who was calling and writing down the guy names. After I got a collection of names and a guy called, I pretended to call out Bambi's name and say, "Joe is on the phone!" then tell "Joe" she was still in bed with "Frank" and would have to call him later.

About 2 months later I got a nasty call from Bambi that left me LMAO and then there were no more calls from anyone :) Karma is wonderful!

This major lawsuit had to do with--sm
the insurance company (SF) stating that they would cover and *wind damage* done by hurricane Katrina, but not flooding, as they had no flooding insurance on their policies, but the lawsuit contended that the flooding was still due to hurricane Katrina and should be covered. they won that case, but there is still some hassle over it because a judge did not like the way the wording read concerning some people who filed claims, but did not sue the insurance company. In my opinion, these insurance companies take peoples monies for years and do who knows what with it, and then when something major happens and people need help, they find all kinds of loopholes to not do anything. That is what insurance policies are FOR! but as far as bleach on a rug...no, if I were the insurance company involved in that, I would not pay either. jmo.
Yes but that post is more MT related. nm

Definitely make major changes...
First, I would quit transcribing.

I would establish a foundation to pay for surgery for children and adults with maxillofacial deformities.

My second foundation would help older women - over age 40 - who want to go back to school or want to get some training for a different career.

My third foundation would help working class families send their kids to college.

I would buy a nice house (not a mansion) on a very large piece of land, where I could not hear my neighbors' noise. That house would have a huge library filled with my own books and another room would be a fitness center with a treadmill and some strength training machines. Oh, and I would like to buy a Schwinn bicycle.

It is probably food related.
Have you switched foods lately? Most gas is food related in dogs and cats. High quality can still give the toots.
Need advice. Not MT related
I am giving my daughter a luau for her 6th grade graduation party.  This is being held at my aunt's pool on her property.  I would like to put a "release form" in with the invitations stating that we (my aunt and I)  will not be held liable for any accidents, etc.  How would you go about wording this?  Thanks for any advice.
Safety first and she is related to you
You have to put fears of rejection and people's reactions aside and put the safety of the child first. I would definitely want to know!!! On the other hand, I see people who live near me who don't watch their kids. I saw girls going in the woods every day at age 13 and smoking and drinking but the mothers of these kids probably actually know about it or don't care. If you think your sister would care, you better hurry up!!! Just tell her you don't know if it's true but you heard something disturbing and you think it's a safety issue otherwise you would mind your own business. If the kid gets hurt will you be sorry you minded your own business. Somebody better tell me if anything like that is going on . I'd be thanking you. But I do watch my teens.
I agree, it is related (nm)

Maybe we're related then,
because that's exactly what my sister is doing. I start googling family names and find pages of stuff, and the author's name is right there - my sister. I knew she was doing it, but it is startling to find it all on the internet. She focuses on the past more than the present. We especially find people's occupations in the olden days interesting.
When we had a major ice storm last
February, schools were let out early (10 a.m.) and the info was posted on a crawl at the bottom of the TV and on the radio. No parents were called.
It depends what your major was, just like anything

You sure this is work related? sm
I always thought my problems were work related.  Turns out, I have an autoimmune disorder and this kind of pain comes with it.  I am treating it and I am so much better.  I am working full time for the first time in 10 years.  Been an MT for 15 years.
if this child related to you?
NM
I would have had a different college major - sm
and been smart about saving money then and not getting into debt....and not picking the loser guys I dated until I met my husband at age 29. ---though had things been different I'd probably be married to someone else and have two totally different kids which are the 2 things I would not want to change--
Look at his name-"Science Major".

I never work on major holidays...
because I work for a small company that closes for all major holidays. I've been with them for almost 2 years now and they are definitely one of the best! They even send me a Christmas gift every year! I would never sign up to work for a company that was open on holidays, as I have no desire to work on holidays.
mine were related to hypertension
I've always had low BP readings, then I'm at a checkup as I had been having very severe abdominal pain for about 4 months. Seems the pain has given me a reactive elevated BP. I went from 110s/70s to 150s/100s in less than 4 months. Now that I'm on antihypertensives, the floaters have gone. We still have not gotten the pain under control, but now I can actually feel my heart rate rise when the pain starts escalating, so I know I need to keep a watch on my BP. My doctor does feel that once my pain is under control (undiagnosed so far - probably stress related), my BP will return to normal and I can come off the meds.
Another phone related post....

Here is a neat site that gives suggestions for how to bypass prompts and reach a human at a number of US-based companies.  It also lists the 800 phone numbers for companies like Amazon.com and Columbia House music club and others that are seemingly very difficult to find!

just had a major lawsuit ruling
but these are mainly people down in the coastal areas whose homes were completely leveled or not habitable. Insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves...some of these folks have been paying the same company for 40 to 50 years and when they need them, they get screwed. I hope the homeowners actually get the monies so they can get what should have been theirs in the first place.

We lived further inland, so the winds were strong enough to blow off a roof, or blow rain under a roof, or turn trees over on houses and crush them, but not level a home....but every time a wind comes up or it rains heavy, everyone holds their breath because trees now have weak roots and are easily toppled over, even 2 years later.
Thanks - that is a major factor in my decision (sm)
My children. I feel like I am choosing between my happiness and theirs and of course they should win. They are happy now, but if they had to have visitation with their dad - who is definitely a control freak - I worry about their happiness. But is it better for them to visit him than to live with him. And wouldn't I be showing them that you don't have to live like that by leaving??? it's so hard!
Any fav websites, NOT MT- related? One of mine is

My daughter was about to have major surgery

2 years ago and the surgeon always made me feel like we were keeping him from something more important.  After waiting in the waiting for at least an hour at every appointment, it was discouraging to have him rush in and out in 10 minutes, considering the procedure she was going to have.  Anyway, at our last appointment before the surgery, we had a PA who actually spent time with us, explaining the surgery in detail and answering all our questions.  I was thrilled.

I have also had my share of not great PAs, but this guy wasn't one of them.

Well in my case it was related to neglect (sm)
But I definitely do not want the child ridiculed at all. She needs help and I know how humiliating it is.
P.S. - I'm not a doctor or anything remotely related. I have very
severe hypertension myself and have discussed all this extensively with my doctor.
Well, if I get a major inheritance, I'll be there

the practice of Buddhism, which teaches that our human desires, wants and "needs" are the cause of our suffering.
Got to vent. I just found out that a major supermarket
chain where my husband works will be open on Christmas Day. I think it is absolutely disgusting that they would take this major holiday away from their employees. There is absolutely nothing in a grocery store that is so important that it has to be bought on Christmas Day. For pete's sake, if you don't get it before Christmas Day, you don't need it very badly.
I'm in complete agreement. If major problem, everyone

My son is a PreMed major and loves this show also....sm
He is hoping to get in Medical School there at Hopkins. Great reality show for the HealthCare Professional.
I was an animal science major in college and...
my poultry professor said that fresher eggs are harder to peel. The problem is that you can't tell from the store which the older eggs are because when they expire, they just repackage them with newer dates and send them back out because they only go bad if there is a defect in the shell.

Fibro
I got it 14 years now. Other than the lack of sleep the ebbs and flows are just sooo much fun. I take doxepin to help sleep through the night, just put me on Zoloft to take the edge off the pain that the Percocet I live off of doesn't handle anymore. At one point I went to a pain clinic and got steroid shots right in the base of the skull and all the way down my neck and shoulders, hurt like a you know what but got me over the flare and didn't get another good flare for another 5 years. They also had me on doxepin then, Paxil, ibuprofen, baclofen, and one other which I can't for the life of me remember. Oh yea it messes with your memory also. Watch your sugar intake very bad for fibro sufferers. I sit here on a heating pad all day or my back just kills me
I have fibro...
but my back doesn't hurt; however, I am sore around the bottom part of my ribs like if my 6-year-old tries to hug me and then at times when I have a flare - it seems as if my legs get really weak feeling (like jello) and then the next day they will feel sore and bruised like especially my butt; so I would think that possibly you could be having some lingering pain.  Do you see a rheumatologist regularly? If so you might call and inquire and if you've not seen one in a while maybe you need to have a workup to make sure it's nothing more serious!  Hope you get to feeling better soon though!
Fibro
It sounds like costochondritis to me. Have you tried an anti-inflammatory? I have fibro and I am in constant pain. Get a good massage and put some heat on it and see if that helps. Hope so. Fibro is diagnosed with several different trigger point areas. Best of luck and hope it goes away and soon!
I wonder if this is really fibro or?
I had a flare here for about a month and things seem to have become fairly quiet but now I have really bad pain in my back section including the ribs. I had some benign cysts on my kidneys and have had a follow up on those twice. Being as this is back and the pain, I just wonder if others go through this same, flare and then maybe the back continues to be sore, hurt??? Thanks

What meds help you?
Fibro
Hi,

I would try amitriptyline or Doxepin. Also avoid all sugar because you probably have yeast overgrowth like I do. I also drink Reliv products, Classic, Innergize and Fibrestore. You can check out their info at Reliv.com. A friend of mine could stop her meds after the fibro. Drink lots of water too. You might check out the guiafenesin protocol. This works for some people.

Hope all this helps.
Fibro
Sorry I meant stop her meds after the Reliv. Fibro fog here. I also have cervical spine problems with surgery so I have a double wammy. The best thing is good vitamins, lots of magnesium for the muscles. A rheumatologist can diagnose and help you. Sometimes they give Ultram too which helps.
Not Pam but have fibro too

Hey, I have extremely bad fibro too, have for the last 10 or more years.  Well, at least they say it's fibro, but it doesn't come and go.  The pain is always extremely bad and never ever goes away.  I have days when I can barely walk or get up out of bed along with very limited activities.  I can no longer do at least 50% of the things I used to do even simple house cleaning.

I went through an enormous amount of testing and saw multiple doctors who gave me worthless medications that did nothing or just made me more sick and brushed me off.  Like in your post you said they are giving you a Medrol Dosepak?  Why on earth would they give you that?  Fibro is not an inflammatory condition and steroids will not do anything unless you have other comorbid conditions such as arthritis, lupus, etc.  Steroids cause all sorts of damage to your body, and if they are not helping you or you don't have other conditions, I absolutely would not take them.  Another thing they like to do is put you on NSAIDs.  Again, these do absolutely nothing for the fibro and can do irreversible damage to your GI system, kidneys, etc.

The only way I can live and function to do absolutely anything is because I am on daily narcotic pain medications.  It took me a long time and several physicians to finally be referred to a pain management clinic that would actually help me.  It is inconvenient due to the ridiculous laws in this state regarding chronic pain patients, as I have to go once every month, but again, that's the only way I can function.  So, I would definitely suggest you see a pain management specialist or a pain clinic.  Regardless of what some of these ignorant doctors say, you don't have to "live with the pain," or take numerous expensive medications that just do more damage than good.  It may take a while depending on where you live to find a knowledgable pain management doctor with compassion and you may have to go to several different ones until you find the right fit, but eventually hopefully you can find one.  It can be very discouraging at times when you are in agony and doctor after doctor won't help you, but just don't take no for an answer.  You deserve not to live a life full of pain.

Good luck to you.  I really hope you find something that can provide you with some relief.

To Fibro Too
Well, got to tell you, the shot I was given last night worked like a charm. No pain today for the first time since December. I have not picked up nor started the Dosepak but I feel 100% better. I do not have arthritis and I do not have lupus but right now I would about swear on these shots. Since the pain has eased up, now maybe I can get into some kind of exercise program because I hear that really helps, could not do that before, too much pain all over. I was told the shots not to be taken on a regular basis and understand that but on my vacation this summer you better believe I will have 1 before I leave.
Fibro - here's what I did
ok - this sounds ridiculous, but I did get a bit of results from it - enough to put on a pair of shorts in the summer. I, too, have fibro and had to stop my normal exercises (I now do pilates on a machine). I had my kids roll my legs every night with my grandmother's rolling pin. Now I don't know if this worked because it was my grandmother's rolling pin or if just any wooden or marble pin would do - it was a bit painful in the beginning, but I got used to it. They did start charging me .50 a night to do this - but we got some good laughs and my legs are okay. I would like to know what to do about my saggy knees now -
I have fibro, too.

Believe me, I feel your pain, literally. I have been misunderstood more times than I care to mention, even by family. Sometimes people think they know better than I how I feel. I have lived with this for several years, and I know what I am feeling and talking about. Actually I have always felt we have a great responsibility regarding our body and state of health; that is, to report what is going on, and most importantly to give the best history possible to our physicians. Sadly, this is still a diagnosis that is misunderstood and even questioned by some health professionals. My friend's husband looks at me every now and then and makes me go through the whole thing again after he asks me with doubt in his eye

NOW, WHAT DID YOU SAY WAS WRONG WITH YOU AGAIN?

I truly do know your frustration.

Fibro, all over
Pain every day, horrific some, tired of trying to fend for myself, no help from other physicians I have seen.
Question on MRI findings, not word board related.
Does anybody have any experience with cerebral tonsillar ectopy not associated with Chiari malformation? Also, at the base of the skull there was scar tissue from a prior injury. This is a personal diagnosis, not something I'm typing up.
I worked for a hospital where the major baseball team
here in town used. I had access to all patient information including the telephone numbers and addresses. My daughter, at that time teenager, begged me for the address of a certain big time player who went on to marry Hallie B but no, no- was not gonna put my job on the line.
