I know it must be going through your mind that you might have been told about the finger, and I am sure the mother is going to be very upset at herself, but she may not be able to hold back from venting at you. Hopefully in the end she will know it is not your fault, but the initial offering of a copay might help this upsetting situation.

Sorry this happened. Hope the child's finger heals okay.
