my youngest is applying to colleges. I'll be 46 in two months. I live outside of Philly. When I had my first, I was the youngest on the maternity unit by almost 10 years. I felt like a teen mom the way the other women in their 30s were going on and on about how young I was to have a child. I don't think 26 is so young. Plus I had been married for three years before my first was born.

My next door neighbors are both turning 40 this year, and they have a 7 and a 4 year old. The husband laughs at us and says that he did all of his living while he was young. Well, it's not like I'm ready to die! I'm doing a lot of living right now! In fact, it's been years since we had to have a babysitter. So my husband and I have been enjoying going out to dinner and to the movies when we want for a long time. This year we had most of the summer all to ourselves as our kids were either traveling with various groups or working as camp counselors and not living at home. I missed them, but I also LOVED having the house and pool to myself, having the house stay clean, and having MUCH lower food bills! And at 45, I still feel young and am plenty active. I love it.
