My MIL has a hawk that visits her

bird feeder, and it's a normal Cooper's hawk. They are famous for this activity. But I think the one I get might be a red tail. At my MIL's he seems to be after doves, but my hawk seems to come when babies are on the ground - usual the red thrasher babies. I have seen this hawk sitting up on a branch of my oak tree, looking down. I know to look for him when there isn't a bird in sight around my feeders. I agree, dense bushes, preferably evergreen and ones that get berries the birds like are ideal companions to bird feeders.

Maybe it was a bird - a hawk!
My hubby saw one land in our back yard. I'm grateful my dogs are over 50 lbs so they can't get carried off. But a small cat? Maybe. I saw a red tailed hawk carry off a large cottonmouth snake once. Flew right over our truck hood. Loved it.
if they are in a pile probably hawk

sometimes actualy a circle pile.  Cats usually scatter them more.

Take the birdfeeders down for a few days until the hawk flies away. nm

red tailed hawk and a pair of blue herons..sm

were the most facinating to me, very majestic...the wingspan on the herons is gigatic! We also have seen a family of wild turkeys recently and always cardinals here in KY.  When I lived on the south shore of Long Island in NY there sandpipers, terns and egrets and one winter there was a snowy white owl (like on the old cigar boxes).  The seagulls get a little loud though.  The birds are a real pleasure...

Can't wait till spring!  Cat

After THREE visits???
I think harder than that about whether or not to toss a sweater.

This shrink sounds like a megalomaniac if s/he thinks this amount of insight can be gleaned from 3 hours' worth of conversation.
doctor visits

Do you find that you question your doctor for every little thing?  I do and my poor doc gets very frustrated with me.

I recently took my 17-year-old for his sports physical.  Every year, we have been in and out, no problem.  This year, he says son needs an EKG, that it is required for sports physicals now. (I know that's not true).  He says he needs a meningitis vaccine to get into college (don't know about that one).

At my last visit, out of the blue he said I needed a sleep study because I looked tired.  Of course, I'm tired.  Working all the time, going through menopause, kids to raise, husband who kicks all night long in bed.  I told him I would not have a sleep study and he got mad.

I had a friend tell me once that the way the docs at this certain practice (there are about 300 docs in this practice) get their raises is dependent upon how many of their patients actually follow through and get tests done that are ordered (the practice is associated with the hospital).  Has anyone else heard of this?  Since then I doubt everything the poor guy says.

some of these states make home visits
monthly to monitor, speaking with the children in private, so ya, it could happen. Educate yourself on the laws of your state and then give yourself a break.
My deceased husband visits in dreams and
I am remarried, to one of his best friends.
I personally would stop coming home for visits.

water for a long long ways and water is clean and beautiful. Can't remember the name, but it's about a 3-hour drive from San Antonio. I'll see if I can locate it. They go there all the time. nm
