He is in the process of having extensive dental work and I'm not sure what the problem is (I hate teeth stories), but may be gingivitis or some other condition? Anyhow, his dentist almost insisted that he buy one. He currently has to go through a 1/2-hour ritual twice a day to maintain the work that's being done whereas the fancy toothbrush takes only a couple minutes, I think.

I do think it's worth it, but you might want to check with your dentist first.
