This is exactly why some of us are not religious ! LOL
I am quite content with my life the way it is, thank you :)
please get off your religious soapbox....SM

How DARE you infer that anyone who isn't *born again* isn't getting into heaven......You are insulting the black community and the Jewish and Muslim communities among MANY OTHERS.

Please get off your religious fanatic soapbox.............

FOR. I don't see them as a religious statement - sm
but rather, a statement of love for the person who died there, an expression of sadness that they were lost, and a little reminder to everyone else driving past it to back off on the throttle a little bit.
Actually, certain religious groups have to earn their
way to Heaven by "saving" people - getting them to hear the salvation message and be "born again"...They keep a tally, and believe that God keeps a tally, and first of all earn their place in heaven and then lots of bonus perks - some jewels in crowns, certain seats at the big old banquet table, positions of authority, etc. In particular, the Jehovahs' W group focuses on this. Poor things - they want us to believe that Heaven is for everyone, while they are busy earning bonus points - sort of like the old Green Stamp days, or earning frequent flyer miles! So, they don't care that they are obnoxious and in our faces - they believe this is what they have to do, and it has its perks in their sick minds. Poor things. And I believe this confrontational style in any religion turns away far more than it saves - even THE savior was meek and nonconfrontational - he never forced himself on anyone - but some just don't get it...though they will some day.
I'd still like a place to discuss religious
or nonreligious beliefs for those of us who are not Christian. I'm sure that is not allowed on the Gab board, which is okay, but where does one go then?

I love hearing other points of view if they are willing to hear mine, and that certainly goes for Christians as well.
Have you spoken with your religious advisor?
If you have one, you might want to try that route.  It may be that because she was so well-behaved before that talking with someone she respects would make her realize how bad her behavior is.  Kids at that age can be awful; I know I was.  I never did drugs or drank, but I really resented my parents for always being on my back.  I think with the situation she is in now, you need to stay a step ahead of her.  Good luck.  I'll be thinking of you.
No, not adherence to religious dogma at all (sm)
Christians believe that every person on Earth is a sinner, and for our sins to be forgiven, we believe that Jesus was and is God's son and that we can pray to God and tell him that we believe Jesus died for our sins. There is plenty of evidence to be found to show that Jesus was not just some nice guy or prophet who died on a cross. Believe me, I looked into it when I had doubts. As for adherence to religious dogma, if you study the teachings of Jesus himself, you will see that he was against those who clung too tightly to their religious beliefs, the Pharisees, who thought they were better than others. Jesus did not hang around ultra-religious pious people, but instead hung around those who were hated in their community, and caused quite a bit of gossip because of it. He stopped the stoning of a woman who was caught having unmarried sex with someone else's husband and said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. No one threw a stone. That is how it is supposed to be.
Ask your religious leader what he thinks about

it -- isn't that why they make those tithe envelopes with stubs on them?  I claim all deductions that I have a record of.

The hyper-religious phase
The world's hyper-religious phase is almost out of style, but it has been a long run don't you think?

I taught sunday school for years and I was considered not "religious enough." The next generations will not care for all the "in your face" stuff either.

All the same, you still have a lot to do to get down to two trucks and looks like DH is ready to leave yesterday! So I won't pray for you, but I will say get busy!
Religious conviction is a narrow road for some.
dd
Btw, wasnt thinkin of this from a religious standpoint
x
I disagree with that...Gab is for all but not for religious discussions I guess so (sm)

It would only be fair to give others who are non-Christian but want to discuss religion a forum to do so.  The thing is I am a Christian but I love to hear others' points of view as well.  But if we can't discuss that on Gab board, and can't discuss it on Christianity board because it would be offensive, then I guess we can't discuss it here at all?

There is a religious not hygenic reason for circumcision.
Like so many Jewish commandments, the brit milah is commonly perceived to be a hygienic measure; however the biblical text states the reason for this commandment quite clearly: circumcision is an outward physical sign of the eternal covenant between G-d and the Jewish people. It is also a sign that the Jewish people will be perpetuated through the circumcised man. The health benefits of this practice are merely incidental. It is worth noting, however, that circumcised males have a lower risk of certain cancers, and the sexual partners of circumcised males also have a lower risk of certain cancers.

The commandment is binding upon both the father of the child and the child himself. If a father does not have his son circumcised, the son is obligated to have himself circumcised as soon as he becomes an adult. A person who is uncircumcised suffers the penalty of kareit, spiritual excision; in other words, regardless of how good a Jew he is in all other ways, a man has no place in the World to Come if he is uncircumcised.
Religious difference between husband and wife?

I am Christian and interested in a guy who is Jewish. What are the pros and cons of marrying someone from other religion?

Give me a broader view of problems that can arise in a relationship when your spouse is from other religion in general and Christian/Jewish marriages in particular.

TIA.

It's all about politics (nm)

politics of
There is some evidence that Americans started taking the bible literally when we stranded here as pioneers. That is when the line by line scripture as truth came about. Unfortunately, I think that our American literalism has been taken advantage of by unscrupulous politicians of all sorts, including unscrupulous clergymen and women for their own personal monetary or sexual gains, etc.

I do not think every word of the Bible was supposed to be taken literally, even though I am a Christian.
adminstrator...can we have a religious political radical board until the election?...sm
so as not to disturb the rest of the flotsam and jetsam of the gab board?  So far everyone has been reasonable...  Cat
oh you are SO wrong - it's ALL about politics....sm.

YOU might not see it as being *politics* - rather something religious (?) - but it's ALL based upon politics today.....Saying or not saying different religious greetings during holidays..........being allowed to or not - freedom of thought/speech/action

most definitely *politics* - get your head out of the sand please......

No MT, no politics, no religion. Anything else is ok.
/
Take it to the Politics board please.
Too many complaints of political discussions taking up the Gab board, so please take this discussion to the Politics board.

Thanks all
And you are right about the politics board sm
you can't say anything without someone jumping all over you on that board and some of the responses are silly and childish. Every time someone posts verifiable information, people on there respond with silly inuendos and comments.
im sure it's someone from the politics board
following me around, stalking me.

i told them it was creepy on the other board.

I just dont get it. I come here to be happy and converse with other MTs about fun/normal/curious stuff...

Reading this post was ridiculously stupid and made me roll my eyes and remind me that no matter how we argue in politics... im way above responding to something with such low class.

so sorry guys for bringing the crap over here. i try to leave it over there...
No SS Increase! Not just politics sm
This is for everyone who has a parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle/etc. who has worked their USA hands and/or kiesta off all their lives. We paid off the big loans and we punish those older citizens who gave it their all, put their kids through college on their own dime and/or moreso to build this country!  Booh, hiss!!!! I thought we made a good choice, but now I am rethinking me thoughts! This is personal, not politics!! Thmbs down, where do we write, anyone know or care to know???
I agree about the office politics...
and that is a definite plus about being at home.  I like the fact that I don't HAVE to talk to anyone if I don't feel like it (unlike being in an office), but my schedule gives me the freedom to socialize with my friends and family when we want to get together and also be active in my church during the week.
Have any of you been reading the Politics forum?
I wonder if anyone has been getting any work done.
So you protest about politics being brought
proceed to participate in the very behavior you are objecting so stridently to. You are entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to share your opinion. I am not saying that you aren't. I just find it rather interesting that you choose to actively participate in the very behavior you're protesting so loudly against.

I really don't care to argue with you, just as I don't really care for the politics board. As far as tomorrow, for my kids it is historic event. Only one of them was old enough to remember Bush being sworn in the second time, and he was still to young for it to hold a great deal of significance. I would like to foster in my children a respect for the process of our government and why our founding fathers designed it the way they did. This is part of that process. It is not about race for my younger children, although my 8-yo still doesn't understand why a black person, or anyone else not Caucasian for that matter, had never been president. My 6-yo thought nothing of the fact that a white woman or a black woman or a black man or a Hispanic man could run for president. In fact, she was a Hillary supporter and then a McKinney supporter because, "boys are yucky."

For some people, tomorrow is a catharsis on many levels, for the past 8 years to the past 200+. If you can't see and appreciate the significance of the event, then I feel very sorry for you.

To the Politics board, where it belongs.

i dont go on the politics board
for exactly the reason i get too angry

it's weird when you are mistaken OVER THE COMPUTER to be someone else...

but whoever that was i probably agreed.

so you are okay with the grape research but expect me to shell out money for everyone in need, whether they really are or not. SHOCKING!

an opinion is not a soapbox.
and i can use CAPITALS for a point. i know in the computer world that means "yelling" but mine is making a specific point.

silly to get your panties in a bunch over that
Shouldn't this really be on the Politics board? sm
you are labeling global warming science as rotten, and basically making remarks about Obama that pretty much should be noted on the politics board, not GAB.
I hate office politics! sm
That is why I enjoy doing MT so much.  It is just me, the doctor's voice and my computer.  Of course, the occasional emails from supervisor.  But the way this industry is going, I see myself doing something else.  What that is I don't know yet, but I am beginning the search.  I thought computers would be a good field to get in.
Please use politics board for political topics. NM

Me too....talk about it regularly, esp. the politics board...lol nm

At least keep your venom to the Politics board, would ya? sheesh nm
nm
Liberal & Conservative merged to one Politics board.
........
Political and candidate topics go on Politics board.
Thanks.
You need to read sticky warning at the top of Politics board.
"let people express his or her opinion and move on"

Use the Golden Rule, don't go over there if you get headache, stay on MT boards.
Very likable and nice, as long as one stays away form politics
especially if one belongs to the other party, lol.....
Heads up! The Gab board is for general discussion not to include MT, Religion, or Politics.
This was put into place when we very first set up the Gab board.  We have a Christianity, Conservatives, and Liberals forum that you can post on.  But, let me be clear. I do not condone trashing of anyone's religious preference and neither should you.  I expect posts on any of these forums to be respectful (that does NOT mean we are censoring, there IS a difference).  This is NOT open for debate. These are the rules.  If you can't respect them, you don't need to post here.
Where did all the posts on this go?!
This was a rather lengthy thread with a lot of feedback and support....but it all has disappeared.  I noticed that happened with some other threads as well, like when admin shifts them from one heading to another (like a Word Help question getting posted under the Main Board).  That's a drag because a lot of helpful things are getting lost in the shuffle
According to the above posts, am just
glad it was lotion and nothing else… what about that Ben-Gay? I loved that one.
According to most of these posts

So no matter what means you got pregnant.  Abortion is murder.  I don't agree with that mentality.  I believe in choice no matter what the circumstances.

Thanks everyone for your posts (sm)
I appreciate all of the info as you don't find a lot of the true problems experienced when researching on the net.

I would like not to have surgery, but I don't think my husband would be willing to get a vasectomy. I can't go the hormonal route and have been told I cannot have an IUD as I have never had children. So, I'm pretty much left with the TL option.

Thanks again all for taking the time to respond with such good information for me to consider.
It's right above the posts.....
with the autoimmune link, mental health link etc.  It's the last one.
CANNOT SEE POSTS - WHAT IS GOING ON?
Any monitors out here? What is up?
Why do the above 2 posts have to keep up with
their daughter's periods- is that just to make sure you have enough feminine products or just why? Neither my mother nor I ever kept up with mine. Is this a new fad or is it wanting to know if your daughter gets pregnant or just why? Both the posts are really new to me.
Not so, those posts came in after
she posted it. Try again!
You don’t have to say it but your posts
come across strongly as really hoping for them not to go- you said showing them off- I guarantee the majority of grandparents want to show their g'kids off, either in person or in pictures they carry around. This is NOT unusual. Why do you find this strange? You have the undertones of not liking this person. Your children are picking up on this.
Thanks, I appreciate all the posts here
NM
Thanks to all for the posts!

I read each and everyone and cried with each. I know I am still in a sad state just a few months after her death and perhaps I have felt guilty because of the sadness. I do know I tried any and everything I could for her, when she got too weak to make it to the bathroom I carried her and helped her, I spoon fed her with baby food and more caloried kitten food when she was a grown cat, trying to help her regain weight, she was so thin at the end, I was her eyes when she had her stroke earlier which she recovered from and it has hurt me so bad, my heart still aches. I have replayed things in my head like 1 said- time and time again- especially of  the fact that I did not hold her when she died- and 1 person said animals lots of time want to go away to die- I know this- but yet when another person on this line said that it helped me think well, ok, she might have wanted to be comfortable and alone - well she was just in the next room from me then. I realize that probably the guilt I have felt is possibly the fact I am still grieving over my loss. Gosh, I never knew a little furgirl would mean so much to me and how I loved her. Another person stated about think about the life I gave her and she probably would not have had- that is true because her mother (when pregnant) came to my door and oh course I let her come in with her babies and my furgirl was born at my home- so see we had been together all those 18 years. My husband got me 2 other brothers furguys and I do love them. I would like in my furgirls honor to adopt another homeless girl from our humane society and hope to do that before long- not to replace- no one can replace her but to give another 1 a good home. Thanks again everyone for the kind words- I really appreciate everyone taking the time to write.
