Nope, insurance never covered any of my plastic surgeries but

Posted By: Linda on 2009-01-23
In Reply to: I read about this a few days ago - (sm)

I still had them- several- just like I would finance this also. This is definitely considered cosmetic unless used for the original eye problem it was intended for.

Yes, insurance covered it.
There was a pre-certification process, which included photographs. Ugh. It took about a month to get the approval. It was 100% covered through my insurance.
2 of the 3 were covered by insurance

We changed insurance plans back and forth between my husband and I during those years and 2 of the 3 did pay for it.  We paid for the second child's circ and it was only $110.  We really didn't have the money for it at the time, but since we had circ'ed the first one, we thought we should be consistent.

We also had both types of circs -- the first one had the Plastibell, which I did like better because I don't think it's painful at all.  The second 2 had the surgical circ, but it healed much nicer and quicker.

I think you are right that my kids probably wouldn't have had much of an issue with the teasing if we hadn't circ'ed them since it's become more common not to do the circs.  But after my husband's ordeal, he wanted it done and I didn't really care one way or another.  I think hygenically it will be easier for them when they're crusty old men. EWWW!

Five wrist surgeries
Don't takes your wrists for granted.  I have an unusual history, but it can happen to you.  I had bilateral wrist pain for a couple of years so went to a regular orthopedist as that is who my insurance approved.  He said it was carpal tunnel, but my electrodiagnostic tests showed right worse than left, but my left hand ached more.  I had bilateral carpal tunnel release (don't recommend doing both at once like me), and then had a re-do on the left because the pain was worse there.  After a long fight with my insurance company, I finally got in to see a hand specialist who found I had stage IIIB Keinboch syndrome, which is supposed to happen in burly male masonry workers in their dominant hand, or someone with a previous fracture, not this little female in her nondominant hand with no previous trauma. Well, he unsuccessfully tried a revascularization with external fixator in the left wrist.  Then I had a partial wrist fusion, which made it worse, and finally a total left wrist fusion, which finally was a success and I no longer have that dull achy pain that woke me up at night.  Your wrists and hands are your livelihood.  Don't take them for granted or you won't have them for long in this job.  I still need a tight wrist strap (Velcro tennis style with magnets) that works best when I overuse my hand like from cleaning house, gardening, etc., but I can still type and I still love my job.
I do have a crown on this tooth and have had a lot of surgeries on it but it is failing now so the

next step is removing it.  The teeth on either side are not the best because they were also damaged when I was young with this one.

How the heck do some of these people have money for all the surgeries? NM

Well, that one's covered lol
I have been keeping a log of what I do on a daily basis for a year - ever since my gd was dropped off with me - to keep a record of who contacts me, whom I contact, by what method of contact, what happened/was said, etc. I never thought about that aspect of accusation of parental abuse, but the bruises are obviously in the healing stage - no swelling, etc. Everyone knows I don't go over there anymore except to let gd visit with her, and since I'm under a court order with her custody, I am very careful what I do and say. When I got there yesterday, she wasn't home, so I waited for a while. Her boyfriend pulled into the driveway and dropped her off about 15 minutes later, so he is aware of her condition and that I haven't been in contact with her.

I've been trying to reach my sister tonight to ask her to go over and take a look for herself. Don't know if she will do it or not, but I do have another sister who has witnessed some of what I've seen and she might go. I also have police reports where I had to call them when she got lost trying to visit me at my new home and was found driving in circles in an intersection, uncertain which road to take...just circling, circling, circling....
It would be creeper for me being covered by
a quilt or by a quilt made out of my sister's clothes, just lying there.....
The fact that you are doing quilts does not excuse or justify everything.
I would prefer to WEAR her clothes, period. Do not try to manipulate me into something.
Forgot to add I cook it covered. (NM)

My cat has a plastic
and Q-tip fetish. Even though I try my hardest to keep these things away from him, because he eats them, he still manages to find them. It's like he has radar or something. He also likes to lay in the bathroom sink. His name is also weird, so I guess it fits him. But I love him anyways.
I was on my way to being a plastic junkie
with this being 1 of several. I am really glad for mine, I do not care for my belly to extend down past my knees.. and I have had 2 face lifts, breast reduction, hmmm think that about does it but never ever sorry I had the tummy. More exercise and less sedentary work would take care of the rest of the weight, can do something about the exercise but the work? I would think most who have had the stomach done would totally agree with me. Sorry your friends did not work out but that is just what you do when you toss the coin with elective plastic surgery.
Me, too. My plastic plants die. nm

You could see a plastic surgeon. Don't think it would be too

plastic popcorn
Hayseed, you are too funny! I totally forgot about those until seeing it here - used to have a tree, snowman, etc. Don't know what ever happened to them. Probably in my "want to impress" years threw them away. Thank heavens we all mature and get out of that stage - I'm much happier being the real me, corny stuff and all. I have a couple of friends who seem to have more money than Bill Gates and they are into frugal retro as well. Merry Christmas and happy popcorn hunting!!
this kitty has a plastic bag and Q-tip
obsession. He eats plastic bags (I know it's not good for him). No matter how hard I try to keep them away from him, he finds them. It's like he has radar. Luckily we haven't had any clogs in his system from it. As for the Q-tips. He digs those out of the bathroom trash and carries them around (gross I know) and them ultimately drowns them in his water bowl. He's somewhat of a freak too.
I heard this from a plastic surgeon also,
that they don't use peroxide much anymore. In certain cases they will use it to clean out a cyst cavity, but they mix it with saline in equal proportions.
I remember those plastic decorations
being sold as fundraisers at our school.  I think it was the Band Boosters.  I'm in East Central Indiana, BTW.
Beatles. Paper or plastic?

Plastic. Shrek or the Three Stooges LOL.

You could put a plastic or aluminum "collar" around the -
trunk of the tree, maybe at about your chest-height. (So the cat can't jump over it.) He'd have to climb up to it, but if it's fairly wide, maybe 1-1/2 to 2 feet, he won't be able to get a grip on it and won't be able to climb any further. It won't hurt the tree, and you can then remove and store it once the babies have left the nest.

Plastic Cap to a Lysol Spray Can up the....
Yes indeedy, most amusing one I ever typed. I cannot imagine how or why one would insert the plastic cap to a can of Lysol spray up the rectum.

All kinds of possible scenarios came to mind, and I kept myself amused all through my shift contemplating them!
I have a small collection of these, too. The plastic glitter ones

When you fuse plastic grocery bags.
You have to be sure you are in an ventilated area because it has toxic fumes. I did mine outside because I have a plug in on the side of my house.  You cannot get anymore ventilated that that.  lol.   I set my iron on 3 which is a medium setting, no steam and sandwich 1 bag folded twice (you need 8 layers) in between 2 pieces of regular typing/print paper.  As I am ironing I just count to 20 or you can use a timer lol and then flip it over and iron the other side and count to 20.  When you peal the paper off you will find that the plastic bag is stiff like paper and seems to be very durable.  I cannot tear the things and I have tried.  To me, it is the perfect liner for a car trash bag or even a bathroom trash bag.  If one must use a plastic garbage bag for the kitchen (some garbage companies won't allow anything else but plastic bags) then maybe we can at least eliminate the amount we use.
Our cat loves feathers and plastic bags - sm
she licks the bags though (grocery bags/Wal-mart that type), weirdest thing, she does the same with feathers, like she is grooming it I guess. She loves to lay on paper too, no clue why. I don't get her too many toys as she does not really play with store bought toys, though loves those feather stick things. Have some of those toy mice but they end up disappearing. Likes the kids toy tents, boxes she can jump in, hiding under the coffee table that has a table cloth that completely covers it to the floor, likes to hid under anything and try and snag your ankle with a paw, definitely startles me sometimes. Loves her scratching post which is actual wood, not carpet, the only thing she scratches other than an exercise pad we put over a brick pad in our kitchen for a wood stove (so if the kids ever fell when they were little they would not hit the brick with their head at least), it is thick and squishy and the cat loves to knead it, makes a mess though if she does it too much. Will have to try the bread tie thing, bet she'd love that. She spends hours looking out the front window at the bird feeder and our hummingbird feeder too, and all the squirrels too. You can see the wheels turning when she is watching the birds and squirrels outside. Sleeps at my feet on the bed either in her cat bed if a cold night or just on top of the comforter. I call her a cat-dog as she has many dog characteristics which makes her the perfect cat to me (I am more of a dog person, but like cats too).
OFF spray for cats; also use mothballs in plastic baggie with sm
holes poked in the baggie with a fork. works for me!
I found them! Those funky 1970s plastic decorations

It was driving me absolutely nuts and I finally found out what they are called!  Google or do a search on E-Bay for 'Melted plastic popcorn decorations' and see what you find!  I'm gonna try and make a bid for one or two because after seeing that one in 'MT of Oz' picture there, I suddenly felt this NEED to have one again!

Thanks for reviving happy memories MT of Oz!!

it is hard plastic, good suggestion, will give it a try, NM

make sure you use a "metal" lice comb, not a plastic one as they don't work well. nm

No, just saw my regular doctor a long time back who prescribed one of the ergotamine drugs and I had a bad reaction to it, got extremely cold hands and feet and nearly passed out and thought I was going to die. I could neither lie down nor sit up and got breathless and didn't know if it was serious enough to rush for medical help. Luckily it passed after about an hour, and I never tried it again. The worst part is trying to sleep all through the night for 3 nights with the pain which keeps waking me up. I am not sure if I should visit an ENT doctor or a neurologist or both, seeing how I get two types of headaches every month, one on each side. Am seriously thinking of stopping at least the hair color use so the sinusitis will subside, but the migraine?
nope. not in the least. sm
I have opened my umbrella in the house quite a bit and nothing bad ever happens. I had a black cat too for 13 years and she passed on, but she was a good companion. Life is life and these things are not going to bring you bad luck, good luck, or anything else for that matter. life is too short.

I can't imagine not having my siblings and wanted my kids to have the same.

It's getting flat out ridiculous.  So sad, I've loved Y&R for as long as I can remember.

It's a hot weekend, may as well shop when not working, LOL.
Nope really can't
But, I maybe able to get away with not having to put dd in daycare so that would $250 a month I would not have to worry about. I don't really know but if I can pay less on family insurance that might be a plus.

There was a job opening at a manufacturing warehouse to work in the collections department for $11.50 an hour. I passed that up because it would have been a little bit of a paycut...... but then again, maybe not because for family health insurance I would not have to pay a dime, company covers all. That would be $145 a month that would not be going out. Plus they get retirement, company stock.

I live in a small town. Our hospital is going to VR. They have not said anything about cutting back on employees yet but if they do, I am sure they will keep the better producers..I just thought this was an opportunity to bow out gracefully. I am feeling better than I did yesterday when I first posted.

And if the kid had a recently-operated-on finger, why wasn't it bandaged/casted, etc. At least that would've alerted you and others who know the child that she needed to take it easy.

Adultery is just the ultimate betrayal. I mean I know some people make mistakes but that is very painful. Forgiving once would be hard enough but twice no. And besides seems to me it is like saying ok go ahead and cheat on me and I will just forgive you later.
