Could someone tell me if there is a Christianity board as well as a prayer board (sm)
or are they one in the same? I have some faith related questions, but don't want to post on the prayer board again if it is specifically for prayer requests. I do not see a Christianity board listed. Thanks so much.
Thanks for that! It is also on Christianity Board (sm)
It's so poignant that it's good to have it on both!!
AGAIN: Christianity-based threads belong on appropriate board. SM

Keep all Christianity discussions and debates on the Christianity board.  I cannot move them there so they are deleted from other boards if they appear.

Bringing Lost discussion up to top of board (major spoiler alert)

Okay, all you "Lost" fanatics, what are your theories now, and how have they changed? Who or what is Jacob? How did the "original inhabitants" of the island get there? They are mostly Caucasians with American accents, with a few exceptions. They don't look like the usual types of people who are native inhabitants of Polynesian islands - if, indeed, that is where the island is.

Why were Jack and Juliet keeping secrets from the rest of the group? If they had been honest and up front from the beginning about Juliet, maybe they could have all figured out a way to foil Ben's plans without bloodshed.

And will the island heal Locke? Obviously he is of major importance - I don't think Ben heard Jacob at all, and he was jealous and afraid when he realized Locke heard him. That's why he shot him. Ben is turning out to be an even bigger weasel than before.

And what exactly was the Dharma Initiative studying? Does Ben really know? After all, he was only a "work man" like his father.

For every answer, there are a dozen new questions - at least!

Heads up! The Gab board is for general discussion not to include MT, Religion, or Politics.
This was put into place when we very first set up the Gab board.  We have a Christianity, Conservatives, and Liberals forum that you can post on.  But, let me be clear. I do not condone trashing of anyone's religious preference and neither should you.  I expect posts on any of these forums to be respectful (that does NOT mean we are censoring, there IS a difference).  This is NOT open for debate. These are the rules.  If you can't respect them, you don't need to post here.
the beauty of Christianity
We ALL have skeletons in our closets!!!!!  We all are sinners!!!!!  The beauty of the gift of Christ is that we can be forgiven through his sacrifice if we make him our Savior.  That is what draws the line between a true Christian and an unsaved person, not the sin, as we all have it in our lives.
and Christianity is an easy life? sm
And no, I would never disown a child of mine, any more than my Father in heaven would never disown me.
But not believing in Christianity doesn't automatically
.
I'm afraid we are giving the wrong view of Christianity sm
Christians believe that every person on Earth is a sinner, and for our sins to be forgiven, we believe that Jesus was and is God's son and that we can pray to God and tell him that we believe Jesus died for our sins. There is plenty of evidence to be found to show that Jesus was not just some nice guy or prophet who died on a cross. Believe me, I looked into it when I had doubts. As for adherence to religious dogma, if you study the teachings of Jesus himself, you will see that he was against those who clung too tightly to their religious beliefs, the Pharisees, who thought they were better than others. Jesus did not hang around ultra-religious pious people, but instead hung around those who were hated in their community, and caused quite a bit of gossip because of it. He stopped the stoning of a woman who was caught having unmarried sex with someone else's husband and said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. No one threw a stone. That is how it is supposed to be.
Just had a discussion about
You know so many kids are spoiled... literally. They expect all these high dollar items and when they get out in the real world they don't have a clue how to cope without these and don't realize that they need to WORK, that things don't just come to them. My mother questioned me last week because I mentioned my son (12) has been saving his money to buy a computer. I also told him he will have to pay a friend of ours to install the computer so he can get all the parental things setup. I want him to start getting a taste of what it's like to pay for his own things. He will respect it more. Don't get me wrong... he got a Wii system for Christmas and he does have a cell phone which is a very basic phone, doesn't have all the extras on it, and I have explained to him when he gets out of the house that will be his responsibility to pay for. He does extra things around the house for me to help pay that monthly bill too. It's just a shame that not more kids are actually expected to work a bit for what they have. My kids don't get an allowance either. I figure this is their home too. We ALL pitch in. No one pays me to clean. LOL.

I try to teach my children that Christmas is about GIVING, not receiving. We gave some money to a couple families in our church anonymously around Thanksgiving so they could buy a little extra for their families for Christmas. Our children are aware we did this and also are aware that we keep this to ourselves. I want them to realize there are too many people who are trying hard just to live day to day and go without a lot of things because of financial situations. Our family has been blessed in big ways (we are not loaded but we have our jobs, we have our health, and we have loads of love)and I want our family to share with others.
If I were, we would not be having this discussion. I

My mom and I have this discussion often.
They live at a 62-over apartment facility and always talk about the people who have kids but never see them and how bad they feel for those parents, and how thoughtless those children are.

One never knows what goes on behind closed doors. You don't know how those kids were treated growing up. Not every parent deserves to be taken care of by their children. I have friends that have left home at 18 and never looked back. Just because the old folks look sweet doesn't mean they were good parents.
Do a search on this here - big discussion:-)
nm
Have you thought about having a serious discussion?
Seriously - marriage is all about conversation and discussion and communication - do it now and teach your kids - you can agree to disagree even!!  Just because one wants another child and another one does not should not mean you automatically do it or don't do it - but you need to discuss and move on.
You are funny. Maybe this discussion
will help:

http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15898

You could always give it away if the stress is too much, LOL.

I don't do inside plants either.
BTW, we did have a discussion with the youth about
what they thought he!! would be like. My hubby and I also included our pastor just in case they had questions we didn't feel qualified to answer. Boy did we ever get some wonderful answers. I myself always imagine fire and unbearable heat. One suggested being all alone in a small dark place for eternity. One suggested that if you had an intense fear, for example spiders, you would spend eternity in a room full of them with them crawling all over your body. I think God wants us to use our imagination when we think of different things, after all he gave us the imagination to use.
Actually I am new to this discussion and I admire
you for sticking it out with your kids. There is a lot of discussion about staying or leaving when you have kids - if the fighting gets to be too much, etc., maybe you should get out - but I think the kids deserve the best you can give them - and at this point that is the two of you together. I split with mine for 9 months 15 years ago - had 4 kids at the time - 2 were his - my girls have never gotten over the fact I left Dad for a while - but it made us a stronger family unit - and I am so glad I did leave shortly and more happy that I came back. Best of luck to you!!
Here's a whole discussion of people
battling mice and rats, with some ideas.

You are CRAZY. end of discussion, you are in your own....nm

Missed a lot of the discussion apparently - sm
What I don't understand is where you get that all unwed mothers are drug addicts or alcoholics.

That is not true at all. Sure, it happens to some but for you to lump unwed mothers into that category is terrible.

You don't know my personal circumstances. I don't know yours.

I'm just saying that I would like to help others that are in the same situation I was in way back when. Hopefully I would be able to help them so they don't have the struggles that I had.

Thankfully, my child and I were never homeless but I worked my tail off to make sure that didn't happen. I sometimes worked 2-3 jobs.

I also worked my way through school. I didn't get hand outs, didn't expect them either but it really would have been wonderful if someone was there to guide me to the things that I needed to do. Maybe it wouldn't have taken me so long to get to where I needed to be.

Absolutely nothing is free in this world and that would not be the point.

However, this is a dream we are talking about right? This isn't about socioeconomic dysfunction. It's about someone wanting to help someone else.
Update after discussion with hubby...sm
Don't worry clhmt... he has a "brainless" job - seriously but makes decent money doing it. (smile)

I did talk with him about it when he checked in on his lunch break and he's going to talk with his daughter about the note this evening. He's concerned about the "in and out" part as well but isn't convinced she has a problem because she has written negative notes to herself like this before... which in the past I've told him isn't normal and are cries for help but this is the worst one that has been found to date. I've pulled some info from the internet about bulemic patterns in teenagers to show him so hopefully he'll realize that I'm not just blowing smoke when I tell him that I'm concerned that she is bulemic. I just hope that he realizes that she has a problem and agrees to get her help, even if I just get him to agree to take her to a psychologist to discuss whether or not she has a problem.
I remember that big long discussion
It went on for quite awhile.  I still don't think it's a good idea considering how short of a time it's been around.  I remember reading an old old ad on the internet about DES and it showed a smiling baby and said something about using it for every pregnancy.  We all know how well that turned out.  I hope PA doesn't make it mandatory either, because I will also have to fight it.
Discussion topic today
How on earth did you get custody of your deceased ex's cremated remains? Did you divorce him after he died? LOL
Probably because it was a valid discussion topic below.nm

Since on this discussion another thing I tell them to put down for weight is
too much.
Main board, gab board, company, etc, just like here,

naw - that was the old board that did that, aka the 'other' board!
why was it here and not on the Politics board anyway?
Is that board still available?
Thought I had it in favorites, but takes me to the main board . . . I do not have board options to the left though. Anyway, the Gab board is to gab about anything not MT, so I'm sure she's fine here, but I had been trying to check out the WAHM board yesterday and couldn't get there, so just thought it funny you brought it up today.
a new board??
Oh, I love it.  We can yak about anything here?  I'' be back!
RE: Gab board

Sorry about that. . .I'm new to this site. I'll take my questions out to the Company Board. I might get some additional advice there.

I don't think many on this board ... sm

I posted on scrapbooking one time and didn't get any response.  I love to scrapbook and I am about to finish up one that is a thank you gift for the family that we stayed with last year on vacation in Colorado.

I am limited in what I can spend on it so I have to depend on a paper cutter, scissors and I love corner punches.  I think I have seen the machine that you are asking about but I really don't know anything about it.

The question I posted back quite a while ago is concerning scrapbook programs on the computer.  Do you know anything about them?  I think I would like to use one of those programs but I have not found anyone as of yet who is knowledgeable about them. I was trying to research that one day through Google and found this website. You might find the answer to your question on here: twopeasinabucket.com   This is a scrapbooking website and I found it quite interesting although I didn't have a lot of time to spend looking for the answer to my question.  Good luck!

About using this board -
Does anybody know why, especially in the replies, when I click on the subject sometimes I just get one letter or a mark, or there just isn't anything there?  Am I doing something wrong?
I think there is only one Jan on the board,
so you can always skip her posts if you don't want to read them.

When somebody is hurting, it is only natural for a caring person to offer whatever they have that could help. Every Christian on earth was once a nonchristian, and somebody led them to Christ, perhaps by offering them help or hope in a time of need.

Nonchristians of all kinds are also free to offer whatever help or hope they have to offer.
I saw this on another board I was on
and it was said that Walter Reed will not pass out cards made out to "A Recovering American Soldier." So you might want to check before you do it.
Thanks, JMR, we need more like you on this board!
Thanks so much, will copy your info down. MERRY Christmas, and thanks for your positive and kind input!!!
what other old board?
.
What other board?
nt
You don't pay for the other board....
the best thing about it is nobody is nasty towards each other, no name calling if you have a different opinion about something, not much whining and complaining about how horrible someone's job is, etc. A nice breath of fresh air over there. Been on the political board here lately? If you want to see nastiness, pettiness and childish behaviour, hop on over there for a bit.
Where is the other board?
I would like to communicate with some nice people.
Can you tell me where the other board is too?
Thank you.
How many on the board

are finding it hard to make their house payment, car payment or credit card payment?

No you do not need the board, but you do need
xx
this board
I would liken this board to a bus stop. Or talking to someone in line. Americans love to do that. Mindless chit chat, no politics, religion, or anything too personal. I hope you are not scarred, but virtually (pun intended) no one feels super anonymous here. You are okay, just remember you are at the bus stop and these are not your sisters....
This board isn't a job interview.
This is a place to kick back, relax, and vent. I don't see this as a place where people have to behave professionally, although it'd be nice if they behaved more politely.

There's a time and place, and what you see is appropriate for this place. I'd expect to see professionalism on the job search boards.

There are all kinds of ways to get work done. You're right that it's a privilege to be able to work from home. You do it in your manner, and others do it in theirs. As long as the output is professional quality and timely, the methods are as individual and as varied as the people.

That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it!
Why is there so much assuming on this board
because once you assume you know what you are talking about, usually wrong as you are in this case. I took in my stepgrandchildren, 3 of them, 8, 13 and 15 and raised them for 3 years. Their mother on crack, their father in prison and they went around their real grandmother's home and she sold dope and illegal alcohol from her home. I went to their school, middle and grammer, endlessly. I saw things I never saw as I was growing up, so disrespectful to authority figures. The mother took son to crack house with her, kids lucky to eat 1 meal a day when not living with me. So instead of telling me I don't know, think I have probably lived it. I doubt all the kids getting the diagnosis of attention deficit really fit that category. Oh, tell me I don't know about that either, not so because a neighbor of mine used to get a check and had her son diagnosed just to get a check. Get your head out of the sand.
On another thread on this board....

someone made the comment about giving girls a false sense of security and not getting PAPs and physicals because they got the vaccine.  That was something I hadn't thought about previously.

I was talking about this with a friend of mine and we got on the subject of DES that was given to prevent miscarriages and preterm labor in the 50s and 60s and the side effects that came from it.  I googled DES and the one website has a copy of an old ad that states "recommended for routine prophylaxis in ALL pregnancies" with a picture of a smiling baby above the statement.  We all know how that turned out!

States have made all kinds of vaccines mandatory for admittance to kindergarten, but there are ways around it, such a religious exemption.  I have another friend whose kids have had NONE of their childhood immunizations.  I'm not saying I agree with anything that drastic, but her kids are in school.

Anything BUT transcription on the Gab board, please. NM

anyone who has to come to a public board like this

Anyone who has to go on a public board/forum and brag on and boast about ANYTHING- ( about A MAN, no less *L*).....just makes most posters question the credibility of such posters.  Anyone who is truly happy....has no need to type all this on a public forum....nor to hang out on one....

the hubby *put you on a pedestal* so now you can reach the keyboard....*lol* -

Now really, all the nasty, antagonistic posters, and in this particular thread, should get off their mommy's computers and go outside and play because from my view, it's a spectacularly gorgeous day outside

*laughs*

prayer board
Do you have a line right up above your post that says "Mental Health Board - Autoimmune Board - Prayer Request" ?  For some reason I can only see this when I'm on the Gab Board.
Yes "Gab Board" is on the right but
I still don't see what you see. I feel like an id!ot. I have seen the prayer board before and have even visited it but it is not here now.
