Question about my big furry boy cat

I have a big male, almost 5 years old, and for the last several days his actions have changed. First of all the other night, at 2 o'clock in the morning to be exact, he started scratching a lot at my door, never has done that before. I told him to stop and finally got up, gave him some food and he quieted down then. I do not think he was hungry though as other food still in the bowl. He also has meowed loudly to get into my bedroom yesterday when my husband was in there asleep. Never did that before. He seems to be hiding some, right now down beside my desk where he usually does not stay and then when I opened the door to my bedroom this morning he ran in and went to the closet like again he wanted to hide. Anyone have any furries that have had similar actions? He otherwise seems to feel ok.

My Furry Babies

The bigger one is Mojo and the skinnier one is Mimi.  Mimi showed up on our door a year ago as a stray - very skittish, skin and bones.  She disappeared a month later, showed back up two months after that and has never tried to leave the house again!

you have been blessed with furry friends!!

I can't imagine life without them.  They can really make  someone's day.  I especially love when I hear about the animals helping people in nursing homes or using them in libraries during children hours.  I would love to be part of that.  What beauty they bring to this crazy world.

Oh I much rather prefer my furry friends to the kids now
also, so much easier, less cost, always loving, always there for you, cant do without my precious ones.
Need information about my furry loves, my cats
I have heard of dander but do not know if this is what is going on with my big boy. He seems to have quite a bit of large flaky material coming off his rump. It is not all over his body. He has loads of fur and when I got him dematted last time, the groomer suggested I put olive oil in his food or some cream for his skin. Did the olive oil and still has these areas. Does dander sometimes appear like that, just in certain spots or would it be an all over problem? Thanks.
Had to share this picture of 2 of my furry boys!
I just walked into the room and found them sleeping together like this!

The not so nice furry has had a litter of kittens
but age wise, not so sure about that. The people at the HS probably do not know also, she might have been a stray. I am really surprised she was out at the back of my house last night, out again today as she had only been here inside for such a short period. My coworker and I are going to get a trap from the shelter and get her fixed and hopefully then let her be happy as a mouser. I hate the fact she will have to be outside for awhile. My felines all inside, never out and not only dogs around but also cat eating coyotes and I am in the city limits. People here told to keep animals up.
