I love to read!! I like Christian fiction and these books are about the Amish and are soooo good! Author is Wanda Brunstetter. My husband bought me about 60 books for Christmas. I have about four left to read!

Not all 2nd marriage brides

had a shower with the first marriage and missed out on the exp.  Not all mothers of 2nd and 3rd babies ever had a baby shower with the first or second...

Sometimes its just nice to have the party since the woman in question may not have ever had the fun of such.  I know I had never even been invited to any parties other, or if I had been, never had the opportunity to attend.

Me too! Never missed Here Come the Brides or
the Monkees!
I am in Lancaster about an hour from you. I just was down to the new Harrahs you have down there to
watch the sulky races.  I have only seen them once in my life and it was pretty nice watching that.  I am not much for slots but I like to watch the horses and I bet a whole $2 on them.  Not much but more fun to watch when you have a favorite picked out.  I never win anything but it is an inexpensive way to spend the afternoon every now and then.  I have only been there once.
She got her at the Animal Shelter in Lancaster, PA SM
She is the most darling cat and so very beautiful!  She looks sooo much like the picture! Nina is very elegant. She is adored and lives in a lovely condo in Lancaster with my niece and her very number one fan, Nicole, my niece's 10-year-old daughter!  They have since gone back to the shelter about a year ago and adopted a male cat, Reuben. He is a pretty beige/rust color, has outgrown Nina by a mile and is just an absolute love!!  He refuses to drink out of his bowl, and when his aunt (me) babysat them this summer I spoiled them just a tad. Now my niece has to turn on the water in the kitchen sick for the kids to drink!!  LOL
Anybody hooked on the PBS War series?
it's so horrifyingly fascinating and sad.  It has a way of taking you back to that time.  I had no idea how much the public was lied to by the media about what was going on.  I hear it's doing great in the ratings.
HBO series on addiction sm
HBO had an excellent series on addiction. It may be available on the Net someplace. They have what is called the *go* factor in the brain, etc. which stimulates the need for alcohol or drugs. I have attended many different lectures on this and it is very confusing. All I know is that it happens in the very best of families, drugs, alcohol, any feel good addiction can happen to anyone. I have a hard time dealing with it myself since some of my nearest and dearest have problems. All one can do is take good care of themselves and lead by example. This time of year seems to bring it all out - I used to dread Christmas and the loose lips that sink ships, one too many drinkers can ruin a holiday! It's funny in the movies but not in real life, it is a disaster. No one needs to apologize, glad the subject came up, it's a good *remember when* for me. I stopped buying booze several years ago and it is surprising how my guest list has shortened, thank goodness! I feel my life has improved for the better since alcohol is not on my holiday menu. You have to start someplace, why now with your own home sweet home? No more booze served here. A lot of us have walked that walk, it's a tough one.
twilight series
Isn't this really popular right now with teens?
Cost is approximately $300.00 for series.

Have you read the G.M Ford series with sm
Frank Corso?  His very last book "Blown Away" was a cliffhanger, too. I keep looking to see if there is sequal to it, but I fear there isn't one.  His other books were fantastic but that last book left me feeling like I need to write the author and beg him to publish a sequel so I know what happens to the main character.  Just a warning, if you decide to read his books, read "Blown Away" last.
Life, partly, is a series
of reality checks that feel sort of like a slap in the face. Our society plays up fantasy big time.

The older you get, the more you realize it really isn't what you thought it was, but you eventually also realize that even if it were all that, the importance all comes down to caring about and being cared for by other people (and animals of course) and the other stuff is kind of empty. :)

I would tell your husband you are feeling like you need a little excitement in your life, and maybe he can come up with something you can do to jazz it up a bit. Even little adventures (like tubing down a river, etc.) can make a world of difference.
Don't get the GE Prodigy series. Totally bite!! nm

Maybe they will create a series! Full House

Anyone else doing Oprah's Best Life series w/diet? sm
I am trying to follow Dr. Bob Green's advice, he said first 30 days of his diet are free, however, others have said, you have to give your credit card # so they can start to bill you after the first 30 days, I refuse to do that. I have been discontinuing the 6 bad foods, however, and doing more of his suggestions. Also, I loved the spirituality 101 workshop and it gave me some insight. I am not weighing myself, notice a little difference in my waistline, not much, but I do feel better and am hoping I can stick to it. Anyone else doing it? Perhaps we can support each other. They said to avoid "sabotage." My husband means well, but I have to keep reminding him and saying "NO" to some things he offers me. He means well, doesn't want me to get sick, but I'm trying very hard to stick to it. I could lose about 15 lbs., but it is sloooow, although this is the way to go, used supplements in the past and it plops right back on you when you least expect it? Anyone else???
That is, Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Series - nm

Happy Watching! I'm buying the whole series for myself as a Christmas gift.

Clan of the Cave Bear / Earths Children series
There are now five in the series - Ice Age story thoroughly researched by author Jean Aul. There is a website about these as well. Ayla is one of my favorite characters.

I also am a big Nora Roberts fan.

Yeah, the True Blood series is basically like soft porn...
definitely not advisable for a 14 year old!!!
Same here in Oneida County, NY!!!

Pay varies by county
In my (rural) county, aide pay starts at, I believe, $11.50/hr. (I live in the southeast, too.) In neighboring county, big city, horrible kids, it is about $8.50/hour, and the aides are required to have at least 2 years of college. Go figure. The teacher pay is higher here, too.
In Washington County. nm

The scene where she is in the truck with her husband in the pouring down rain and Clint Eastwood is in front of them and she has her hand on the door handle. I cry there every single time!!
Any Habersham County, Georgia residents out there? sm
if so please e-mail me.  We're considering moving there and I'd love to meet someone in that area.  Thanks!
We have 5 acres in a remote county about 12 miles - sm
away. My DH has been wanting to sell but I want to hold on to it. It has already doubled in value in the 5 years we have had it and as the sprawl comes towards us it will get more and more valuable. Plus it is river view land (5 acres), 4 acres cleared and flat and nicely sloped too. If we don't build in the next 10 years we will probably sell it later, figure maybe college money if we don't have enough set aside (we should) but it is nice to know it is there and we can cash it in if needed.
Yep. Burlington County is a big part of the Pines. nm

I worked at my county clerk's office
You get to sit through trials and stuff like that. You essentially take notes during the trial - court minutes - and keep record of the verdicts. I loved that job, but unfortunately it didn't pay very well.
they are not allowed in miami-dade county

Pit bulls are either not allowed in Miami-Dade County in Florida but I heard something about having $600,000 insurance if you own one.....but that COULD be Broward County where they are allowed.  I'm in Miami.

We have a few school closings now in Sussex County.
I am in Morris, very close to Sussex and in the mountains. We should be getting a few inches for the day is over.
In our county, they summon people directly from
the registered voters pool. I'd always heard that from friends who worked at the county clerk's office, but didn't really give it much thought. I get summoned a couple of times a year & my husband never did, then when I talked him into registering to vote, now he gets summoned all the time too...
rocklin county, NY, armed gunman
wrestled to the ground by school superintendent; no shots fired. (per Fox news)  gosh i'm glad my kids are grown....
HAHA... YEAH... I can just see our county jails filling up with (sm)
scores of pregnant women who (gasp!) CLOSED THEIR EYES during the *mandatory* video-viewing.
Oldham County had the best schools in the area and is just outside of Louisville (sm)
Been a few years since we lived there, they were dry counties, but if you wanted wine or a beer in you frig, pick it up on the way out of Louisville on your way home.

Beautiful countryside, good schools and low crime rate.

In Limestone County, Alabama, Thursday the 24th is the last day.

Schools have people across the county monitoring weather sm
to assess delays and closings. If there was legitimate fog, the school would be aware of it.

If it wasn't excused, it likely was A) not significant enough to cause any major delay or B) nonexistent.

Think, people.
Cool. Was born in SC. My brother lives in Butler County
I live in Finney County

I was the first girl in the county play Little League - made the All Stars too! Girls rule! Also..

that very same year I won the county spelling bee!  The word I won it on was "ptomaine."

One other special thing happened to me that year I got my ears pierced and hit a home run on my 10th birthday.  I swear it... I totally remember touching my little gold studs before I got up to bat and then "crack."  Even the people that didn't like me playing because I was a girl had to cheer.  1978 was awesome.

My grandma also played baseball during WWI.

This thing is not connected to the above, but I am related to Martin Van Buren, 8th President.

Yeah, I just did jury duty, served on 2 trials in my small county court. There was a girl
did absolutely nothing. Good-looking, well-dressed young lady, may went out a few times (I'm sure to deliver a message or something), but other than that- absolutely nothing. What a job!. Am sure in my county at least, its all in who you know.

Good luck with your jury duty.

Way to go Steelers!
If I'm reading right
then it makes perfect sense to me. He does not, no how, no way, no matter what happens, want anymore children. She "would not mind" having more children, but is willing to not have more children because of his wishes. However, should something happen, God forbid, to her husband or their marriage, she potentially would like to have more children.

Not sure why she wants him to have a vasectomy, but if I did read it right, it is his best insurance policy (short of abstinance) to ensure he does not get what he does not want. However, you are correct that there are other ways to avoid pregnancy, but sounds like the OP just wants her husband to be happy (by not getting what he does not want).

OP, I do agree with the posting that suggested you should not have scheduled this for him while he is of the mind set of not wanting to have it done. My husband just did have it done (our youngest child is 10 years old). After our youngest child was born, without my suggesting it, hubby had said that he would have it done because he felt that it was the right/fair thing to do. After all, I had gone through the two pregnancies/childbirths/breastfeeding, etc. While I appreciated the sentiment, he did not follow through with it until he HAD to. He had a varicocele that was causing referred pain up under his arm, which prompted him to see the family doc, who did not diagnose the varicocele, but after attempting to clear an "infection" (a "knot" in his testicle) with a couple of rounds of antibiotics, eventually he referred to a urologist.

I have not been able to take hormonals for years due to headaches and other problems associated with them, and had had an IUD placed, but had to have it removed the following day, so we had been using condoms for most of the 10-year time period (and even THAT did not prompt him to go ahead and have it done, after it was his idea to do it -- men can be such babies . . . LOL).

Because of the varicocele, he had to be put under and the surgery was a little more extensive than the normal, in-office procedure, and hubby has come through just fine. Yes, there is pain involved, but I imagine there was a little bit of pain involved with birthing your babies. I think he should "be a man" and just do it.
you might be reading too much into this

I have two daughters currently undergoing orthodontia treatment and their docs (brothers) either call us that night to see how they are feeling after their treatment or send a personal note.  Just very friendly, caring orthodontists.  They also have an office full of pretty young ladies and are both married with a bunch of kids and lovely wives.  They are just very nice guys.

Could be that your orthodontist is just trying to be a nice guy.   Don't embarrass yourself by reading too much into what could be an innocent effort to make your treatment time more enjoyable.

Currently reading

"Cross" by James Patterson, next on my stack of 10 new books is "I Heard That song before by Mary Higgins Clark.  I'm an avid reader - can you tell??

Only just reading this, so very sorry.
I lost my little man kitty Dante, it has been almost 2 years, I've been thinking about him after reading all the supportive messages above. I was just telling my daughter yesterday that I think it's time to go to the Shelter and find a new little kitty to love. The value of their company cannot be measured. God Bless, take comfort in all the good days you had together. I'll say a little prayer that your heart does not hurt too much or for too long.

Reading this over and I think
your aunt does not have the ability to change a will. That is not what an executor does, that is not the position to change what is in a will. If you and your brother get anything at all, I think you should be glad because you were only taking the place of your father, his own child, as your father is demented. I went thru a similar thing, my father died and I had a deceased brother. The insurance company was supposed to divide insurance between the children of my deceased brother and me as they were taking the place of my brother. After a year's time they could not find them and they sent me the balance of 1/2 of the insurance fund. I am thinking perhaps with no changes made prior to the demise of your grandfather, that money perhaps might go to your father and hence like you do not want it to go, to the state. That would not be good for any of his entitled heirs but you might have an uphill battle with lawyers, the courts, etc. in this case. You can break a will and if lots there to be gotten, then probably can take this course. The aunt should already have hers coming, is that not right so I doubt with her telling the power of attorney to get a lawyer she is trying for more, only she does not have the authority to just break herself.
I don't know... From what I'm reading on other
sites, people are so tired of Adam's monotonous exact screams in every single song that the Danny voters will probably swing to Kris, so it could be up for grabs. AI has a message board too.
