Should she get a "compassionate release"

I don't think so. She claims to not be the same person she was when she went in, but she's as close to it as anyone else could ever be.

Here's the first couple of paragraphs of the article.

Susan Atkins, one of the Manson "family" members convicted in the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others, is dying of brain cancer and asking to be released from a California prison after 37 years behind bars.

Doctors have told Atkins, now 60, she has six months to live, and she and her family are asking the corrections department for a "compassionate release."

"It's ridiculous to continue to pay millions of dollars to keep her in custody when she can't even sit up in bed," says Atkins' husband, James Whitehouse.

Atkins has been incarcerated at the California Institution for Women at Corona for 37 years longer than any other female inmate in state history and denied parole 11 times. Atkins told Diane Sawyer in a 2002 interview that she still hoped she would someday be released.

"I would like to be out some day. I hope to be out some day. And it's amazing that I still have hope. I don't know about expectations anymore," Atkins said.

"You know a person by their behavior, and my behavior in this institution speaks to the change that occurred over 30 years ago. I am not the same person that I was when I came in here."

From what I heard his wife did release
the tape and against court orders. This child was supposed to, from what I heard, going with him somewhere. The mother got into trouble 1 time before for going against court orders. True he did wrong by the ranting but I would be willing to bet you Ms. Kim involved in not following through with court orders. This is probably the case of a child being put in the middle by these 2 who cannot stand 1 another now. Sure it happens all the time but we are not Kim and Alec, right?
release of medical records

Wknds are the toughest at any hosp.

Considering your FIL has had a stroke, who's his proxy?.... he can't sign for himself....Someone has to run down to medical records and sign a release for ALL the medical records pertaining to the dates in question......ER, HP, procedures, consults, progress notes,  labs, anything you can think of ...You are entitled to a free copy and it will be sent to your home address within a week.

Docs at the new hosp may be able to access records over the internet as a course of professional courtesy.   Hope he recovers soon.

and he sounded so scripted in the press release
not like it was coming from his heart at all. Am sad for his family. I sure would not have been the adoring wife, on stage with him. She ought to have him ducking and dodging. To whom much is given, much is expected, but he certainly has fallen short. No integrity. Maybe when he hits bottom, he'll look 'up'.
