Can someone recommend a good sinus/allergy medicine? I am currently taking generic Claritin and occasional Sudafed without much relief. For some reason this week my sinuses are horrible. I also have a lot of nasal congestion. TIA!

Dr. Oz uses a neti pot to cleanse his sinuses. He was on Oprah and showed how to use it. I believe might just work. Worth a try?
Sinus problems
Is there some magic cure for sinus pressure/pain?  During this time of year I am miserable.  I have tried everything on the market and nothing seems to help.  Any suggestions?

Sinusitis and/or seasonal allergies, both aggravating alone but together maddening. I have to live with it every day but you can't be passive about it. I follow my ENT advice when it comes to the distilled water/sea salt sinus irrigation and other things, but not the steroids. Any steroids above the neck is bad news for your eyes, don't recommend Flonase. Get sinus rhinoscope from your friendly ENT and CT sinuses scan. Your turbinates are probably swollen!  MacNeil sinus bottle available at Walgreens. I use the bottle but not the packets. Get a working recipe for relief from your local dedicated ENT. I take Claritin too, it helps.
Have they ever done a sinus culture on you? sm
There's a possibility that they are giving you the wrong antibiotics or just not a long enough course. Also, it coud be a fungal infection, in which case you would not need an antibiotic, but an antifungal drug. Sometimes when the infection is long term or persistent, you need to be on medication longer than the usual 7-10 days. Good luck.
sinus problems...
i have always had chronic sinusitis.  but....i have had this little knot right on the top of my front gums.  in the maxilla area way up high on my gums, like right under my nose.  sometimes it gets tender if i get sick...but not sure of any lymph nodes in that area.  well, last week i woke up with a stiff neck and feelign tired, tired, tired...just not myself.  friday, the knot in my maxilla started getting larger and started having mucous draining down my throat, but my nasal passages were completely dry, almost uncomfortably dry.  saturday i bought a neti pot and started cleansing my sinuses with saline. by sunday morning i woke up with the knot the size of a huge marble and pain...and burning. my left eye was almost swollen shut.  monday, went and saw my doc, said it was probably an infected hair folicle??are you kidding me? gave me z-pak and flonase., well today the knot is the size of a walnut. cant close my lipds together, and i am swollen from my eye down to the top of my lip.  this knot is hard like really hard, solid and has spread out of my gums to where i can see it and feel it.  the knot extends up passed the bridge of my nose and sticks out.  has anyone heard of a sinus infection like this before? thanks.
Have you ever tried a neti pot to cleanse your sinus

Maybe you should ask your doctor first, but these things are great.  I don't have major sinus problems, but I do have an itchy nose from allergies, and my neti pot helped me.  Here's a link to amazon.com if you want to check it out.

I used to have lots of sinus problems
until I went on a low-carb/modified Atkins diet. I did it to lose weight and ended up getting rid of all my sinus problems. I stopped eating all processed food, bread/bakery, pasta, rice, ice cream (except for Breyer ice cream because it is all natural!). I lost a lot of weight and got rid of sinus problems. Now I can tell when I have been off with my diet, because the allergies will kick up again.
I had a sinus infection a few weeks ago - it's gone now, but (sm)
ever since then I've had the BPV. That's what I think it is.  Worst when I first lie down in bed.  Goes away after a few seconds.
Cold/sinus infection with beginning of period?

Okay, here's the deal.  The day before my period, for the last year or so, I get a horrendously bad cold/sinus infection/flu-type process.  It usually goes away about a day or two after my period.  I have never ever had this happen before and its really bad this month.  I have all the symptoms... stuffiness, red runny eyes, runny stuffy nose, pounding headache, throat like daggers, etc.  It started as postnasal drip yesterday and I thought ohhh great... here we go.  Needless to say I was up most of last night in complete tears because of the pain of it all and not being able to swallow at all.  I have tried researching on the internet about this happening, but can't find any information.  Has anyone heard of this or had this happen?  I just want to stop it.  truly, I would take the worst god awful cramps over this torture.  I have had this both on and off the pill and I am only 31.  Any information would be appreciated as I know what a wealth of information our community could be.  Unfortunately, I am in Europe and so I can't go to my GP easily.  The doctors here don’t do anything about anything unless its major either and I know they will brush it off as some silly sinus infection, but it happens every month and goes away in 3 days on its own, so it can't be a run of the mill thing.  Any advice is welcome.  I go home to the US in 6 months and I can wait if I have to, but maybe some angel out there knows something to help.  I have tried tons of medications and herbal things/natropathic and nothing works except my period being established.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the icky topic. ;)

NeilMed Sinus Rinse works great if you can do it on a regular basis.nm.
