Thank you for the ideas! I never new you could give dogs Pepcid. I will definitely ask the vet. He is just so insistent when he wants food that it's hard to imagine that he just wants to eat. My mom hears him sometimes over the phone and says it sounds like I'm torturing him! I will also definitely try to get some grass-like things. He loves to chew on flowers, so maybe that would be something low-cal he could eat. I tried him on diet food. I fed him the exact amount the vet said. He was supposed to lose 1/4 of a pound a month. A year later he had only lost 1/4 of a pound.
