We did the "rose" bush for a couple of reasons. It is my mother's and my favorite flower and it is also her middle name, my middle name, and my daughter's middle name. She has already said she wants to carry on the tradtion if she has a daughter some day. I still have some of the ashes (in case my brother ever wants them to take to South Dakota, where my mother was born). I like the idea of a tree and spreading the ashes around it.
