The answers to your questions are and there is coed sex education where I live, my goodness!

Posted By: Step back on 2007-09-20
In Reply to: Oh, forgot to say females that are in a group - Step back

Yes I am female and yes I do have a female daughter. Again, what I really am saying is no way should you get an excuse for something that normal like a period, because IF all the females start having periods at the same time, no swimming. Sounds like making a mountain out of a mole hill. More important things to do with our time than club a teacher over the head when probably the kids that age talk about more sexual matters than a period. Kids are much more mature than these posting are giving them credit for and lots have had sex already by this age.

thanks for all the answers to my questions--sm
I appreciate the input, even though it saddens me that this would even happen anywhere in the USA!
Answers to Questions
She's the same age as all the kids in her class. She started kindergarten at the right time (she wasn't one of the young ones). She's not into sports very much, but she does have a few extra cirricular activities. I think she's just disappointed because she never had these problems before. I wish she wouldn't be too hard on herself.
Answers to your questions
If you had read the above, my brother deceased for years. That is the son (my father's) I talked about. No, I did not have the addresses of his children. No, I did not stay in contact with them. It was not my place to contact them about my father's insurance. The only time my nephew's mother (my brother's wife at the time of his death) called me was when she asked if I would go get her son out of jail in a small town in my state. I did not get anyone out of jail if in my own town. I knew nothing about bailing folks out. I saw them when they were little, 6 or so when my brother died. The next time I saw his daughter(6 at the time)was when she was 18. Not close, never was, not my job to look for others. I do not know what is strange about families not being all fuzzy and warm?
answers to questions

He teaches english at a technical college.

I do understand that men and probably even some times women have a curiosity and I agree 100% with your husband's comments. It's just that it is all secret and I know the minute I head off somewhere he is cruising porn sites and all that entails. The fact that he doesn't always erase the browsing history and does it on a work computer is because he is careless and lazy, to be perfectly honest.  If I ever confronted him about this I believe he would probably become physically abusive so my hands are tied.

As far as checking his browsing history and the ethics of that -- the first couple of times were by chance.  Just about anyone using his computer can easily stumble across the history if they simply wish to backtrack to a site they were using.  Now I do purposely look every few months.  For about a year I told myself that it had stopped and I just needed to have faith.  Then I checked about a week ago and it was there in lurid detail once again. I firmly believe that if you suspect something or have a hunch about someone's devious or even dangerous behavior that there's a good chance you are correct.  I absolutely want to know if someone is lying to me on a regular basis or putting my best interests or health in jeopardy.  If it requires me to occasionally check his browsing history to see if it progresses to solicitation then I need to probably get out of the relationship pronto instead of continuing to "spy" on someone as it is distasteful.  One should probably should get out of any relationship in which a person is perpetually lying and living a secret life. This has not just happened with the porn in my particular case, there also was an ex-girlfriend.  I say, arm yourself with knowledge in order to make the best decision. Pretending that things are fine when you know in your heart that they aren't is dangerous.  I am NOT saying it is ever a good idea to spy on your husband's life for no reason other than being nosy, only if you have real concerns about a person's honest, ethics and morals.

You can find answers to these questions on
the Animal Channel. It is not they are trying to take the baby away- sometimes the mother will either not feed the infant, ignore it, try to hurt it where the staff has to step in. They want the baby to survive and this is what that is all about.
HappyMTRobin, answers to your questions
I have not used the card to buy because I do not have the money. If that were the case, I would not have money in 3 CDs at the bank. These accts are not touched and I have the interest just automatically rolled over when notified they have matured. I have had at least $10,000 on my CC before and paid it off (only have 1 and this is the same account). The last time paid completely off was 2004 and then I did not use the card again until around 2006. Come May my income will increase by almost $2,000 more a month due to social security coming into play. This is not a might happen, already signed up. Say SS went belly up, no problem there either as my 1 CC only around $140 per month and I can well handle that. As far as the father thing about paying cash, does not always work. My father flew out of town for a funeral in the 80s(he did not have a CC then) tried to pay to rent a car in cash and naturally turned down. So the cash only story does not always work. Good theme though.
Re-read your post - you already know the answers to your questions, it's obvious. nm

going from live in bf/gf to marriage questions.......sm
is anyone else having this issue with friends/family where the couple has been living together say 5-10 years and then all of a sudden is having a "wedding" and wants it to be a big thing?  i just wonder why waste the expenses on a big wedding when you have been together that long?  i have 2 on in-laws side of family doing this and it is just irritating me.  i mean they are going all out with showers, parties, the works.  i don't feel it is appropriate to go out and spend $50 for gifts on them.  what is everyone else's opinion as far as gifts?
It certainly is about education (sm)
I enjoy watching Cesar Millan's show. Pit bulls are one of his favorite dog types. His have wonderful personalities because Cesar understands them and how to communicate with dogs of any type, and especially those with a reputation for being difficult.

I recently saw a great episode about a man who was terrified of dogs. He'd been attacked by a dog in Mexico - a pit bull. Cesar taught him how to read what dogs were saying and how to broadcast calm leadership, even to a dog behind a fence many feet away from you. That man was very happy to overcome his fear, and Cesar was able to help his family adopt a dog from Cesar's pack that had the right energy for their lifestyle.
Education in America.....sm

I'm still shaking my head over this one, folks.  A member of our local school board, when asked about a child whose parents were told was failing all classes but in reality was only failing one said, "Well, a child can be behind their peers but still passing."

I don't know about you all, but in my day and time of growing up, if you had a C or higher average in a class you were passing and parents weren't told the child was failing.

The Education of Little Tree (sm)

Education of Little Tree?
I did not see the View, but I do own this book and loved it. It supposedly was an autobiography by Forest Carter, but turns out he made the whole thing up, which ended up being a really disappointed me as I found the characters so real. I live in the mountains of WNC and am part Cherokee. Good to hear that your kids are into tribal life.
Education of Little Tree
GREAT BOOK!! I passed my book around to my friends and they all loved it too. My aunt even bought a couple as gifts to others. Easy read and very enjoyable.
Education on Pitbulls
Know the FACTS: visit http://www.thetruthaboutpitbulls.com/
According to the American Canine Temperament Testing Association 82.5% of the American Pitbull Terriers that took the temperament test passed, compared to a 77% passing rate for all breeds on average. Pitbulls have achieved the fourth highest passing rate of all 122 breeds tested.

Wait, you don't know about your husband's education???? WOW.
That's really strange to me. I knew where my husband went to school and what he went to school for the day I met him! I guess it just seems very strange to me that you don't seem to really know anything about his past. I just don't understand how 2 people can have a relationship and know practically nothing about each other.
Or better yet - how about we provide s*x education in school, sm
not just *abstinence* education, and we focus on the emotional aspects of having a physical relationship? Next, how about we de-sexualize advertising? When was the last time you could find modest clothing, not hootchie mamma stuff for your kids in the stores?
Time for another diabetes education class.
That's why most doctors send their diabetics to classes - because the rules have changed from their pre-diabetic days.

Parents DO NOT owe kids college education.
When DD started college we paid,,,, at first. But she did NOTHING to help herself.  From her part time job, all her money went to nails, clothes, meals out with friends, etc. She did nothing about getting scholarships. After 1st year, I said I wouldnt pay anything else. DH continued to help her. She did apply for scholarship thru DH work and got $2000. Of that money, she ended up dropping a class paid for with that money, cause it was too early (8:00am). Bottom line, she did nothing towards finishing school, in fact, quit going, did not increase work hours. I stopped giving her ANY money at that point.  She ended up marrying Marine boyfriend and is now working at Dollar Store. These were HER choices, instead of completing her teaching degree, of which she only had 2 years to go.  I told her why should I spend my hard earned money on her when she was doing absolutely nothing to help herself.  She knew if she was making an effort to her future I would help her, but not if she wasnt doing anything for herself.
I do live in Arkansas - my parents live up in Branson so I'm in Missouri quite often!

Calling all you animal lovers - live and let live or intervene? - sm

I have a dilemma.  I am an animal lover and have something I cannot come to a conclusion about.  At a restaurant where I eat lunch every Friday with a friend of mine, I have noticed a young male kitty hanging around outside looking for food.  This past week he ran up to my friend and rubbed her legs and quietly meowed.  I purposely did not try to pet him because I knew I would get attached and ignored him.  Well, ever since then I find myself thinking about him and wanting to rescue him.  Meanwhile, I already have 4 inside cats (2 rescues, 2 Maine Coons) and hubby really does not want another cat in the house because a few years ago I promised we would  never have more than 4 (had up to 5 at one point previously).  I actually have a huge screened deck he could stay on indefinitely because I do not believe in letting cats run loose for their own safety.  I could provide plenty of food, a warm place to sleep, and veterinary care.  At some point I would even probably work him into our household, but I just cannot do it at the moment.  Just not sure I would be doing right by that kitty because I am sure he would be upset and confused for a good while as to where he was and what was going on, but is that better than being hungry and cold?  I know there are lots of animal lovers out there.  What does everyone think??

I'm a live-and-let-live person but had to draw the line

after I found HUGE holes in the walkway between my house and barn.  I thought they were just little mice stealing grain, but then I spotted one and it was a HONKIN RAT!  My poor olderly cat was out there with me at the time and saw it, and he hissed at it and ran away!

I asked for advice on what to do at a local agricultural board, because I have other animals and didn't want to use poison and conventional traps weren't working.  They advised putting a large pale of water out with some seeds floating in it, figuring the rats would go for the seeds and end up drowning.  That was a no-go because the water just froze up solid.  I wound up reluctantly going with Decon because I just can't have my house destroyed.  I haven't had seen any more rats or evidence of them stealing grain, so I'm guessing they have died.  The guy at the grain store promised me the rats would not die in the building and stink the joint up, rather they would crawl off and die outside.  I don't know if I believe that, as it is still winter here and decomposition would be holding off until it warms up.  We'll see, but at least the destruction has been halted.

Good luck and I too say have no mercy, because you just don't need them destroying hour house or causing a spark chewing wires and burnin' the place down.  It is war!

Kerstin, not allergic to anything. We do limit sugar because it makes her very hyper to get much (give her an ice cream and watch her bounce!) She loves sports and plays soccer, flag football and basketball, art, music. It'll depend on what we decide to do how many people we invite, but more than likely there will be at least 10 kids and 30-40 adults. She doesn't have a favorite color. She LOVES to be the center of attention.

It is free. Any footpedal will work. There is a function where you "acclimate" (don't know the correct word) but you get your foot pedal working with it. Also, there is a button on the software that says word, that will give you MS Word to type in but I have never used it. I use my regular MS Word.

Also, there is a settings function so you can slow down or speed up the dictation.

Hope that helps.
Thanks for all your answers...
In response to some of your thoughts, he and I will never have kids together. We both had our own kids before we got together and neither desire to have any more - and yes, she is the baby.

She does not accept me because her mother teaches her that I broke her family up (which is way off from being anywhere near the truth).

I know it is not going to change and in fact, he is so mad at me about it right now that he has now been gone for 7 hours and who knows how long before he will calm down enough to come back home.

I don't know if I can live with it anymore. I have tried talking to him at a neutral time, but he still thinks I am picking on his child and that I am just jealous and selfish because I should understand that he is just trying to make sure she knows he loves her. The sad part is, everybody sees how spoiled and manipulative she is, but him.

His friend's kids do not want to play with her, his family does not want her to spend the night with their kids, she tells me that the kids "cheer" when she is picked up from after school because she is leaving... and when you point it out to him (not in detail about nobody liking her), he just says she has had a hard life and he knows she's mean. Duhh, then take care of the problem!!!
wish I had the answers
I really wish I had all the answers to everything, don't we all? I don't know why pitbulls are the most talked about and abused breed. And yea there are alot of criminals that use the dogs to fight in order to get them some quick money, it's sad it really is, and yet the dogs suffer for it. And you know with the pitbulls it is almost like a race issue to me. It is no secret that the jail cells have more blacks than whites, so does that men all black people commit crimes then??? no it doesn't. Like I said before I always look at the bigger picture. I hate dog attacks happen I really do, I wish we knew why in every single case, but we don't and it's very sad.
Thank you all for your answers -- a few more ?s

Firstly, proving the debt is invalid in my case.  I purchased a timeshare trial -- not a full timeshare.  Apparently the laws governing these contracts are gray.  The timeshare company claims it is not a timeshare and therefore does not fall under the same cancellation rights.  I disputed this through the state's real estate commission that I purchased it through, but they were only acting as "mediators" and were not able to rule on it.  In order to have that issue resolved, it would need to go to court, which would probably end up costing me more than the contract itself.

Secondly, has anyone ever been sued by Apelles?  Some debt collection agencies don't waste their time suing, and I'm curious if this is one of them.  If they are likely to sue, we will probably end up paying the thing and then using it since it doesn't expire until this summer.  I don't want to pay for it after it expires and lose double.

Thanks again for your answers so far.  I hope you don't mind helping me a little more!

Yes, I do mean the old slides, the kind that are little square things (a bit bigger than a stamp), and you put them in a projector and look at them on the wall or one of those white screens.

My mom had 8mm movies of us growing up and she put them on VHS (before DVD was invented) and they are excellent quality. I even have my moms wedding and my aunts wedding, and moving photos of my little sister and me playing (she died when she was 18 months old and I was 2, so those are priceless). If yours came out dark I do believe whoever did it probably did a crappy job and if you could get it redone I'd look into it. Unfortunately I'm not sure who to look for that would do that. Maybe a shop that develops pictures would know of someone.

Once I get all our slides scanned I might look at doing it for others and put out some of my samples, but right now just been too busy to do that. What I also did was I scanned in some photos, printed them on material and made a quilt out of them, so if you sew or quilt you could make pillows or something with old photographs.

My son is a realtor and has experience in this sort of sell. I don't know where you are located but I'm sure he will have some good information for you. You are probably sitting on a goldmine. Where we live, the same thing is happening. Older homes on the water are being bought and torn down to build mansions - just feel lucky that you are probably going to make a mint when you do decide to sell.
I know doctors don't always have the answers

I've been in the medical field since 1971.

I was just venting a little - we were so relieved it wasn't bedbugs, and we were hopeful that we would find the real cause and be able to eliminate it. It was kind of a let-down when we didn't.

As far as we know, my husband hasn't been exposed to anything unusual at home or on the job, and his food intake has been normal - nothing unusual.

The only thing we can think of is we moved into this house late last summer, so he did mow the grass a couple of times, but of course different things grow and bloom in the spring than in late summer and fall. He does generally have the usual allergies involving itching eyes, runny nose, sinus congestion, etc., but he has never had a reaction like this. He was a Boy Scout and went camping and hiking all the time, so I know he knows what poison ivy looks like! And it doesn't look like poison ivy rash.

Maybe somebody out there has had a similar experience and can help us - let me describe his symptoms. It usually starts out as a series of small red bumps that are in a fairly straight line. For example, in the crease of his right arm, there are about six little red bumps going straight down (proximal to distal) from the crease in a space of about 1.5 to 2 cm. There is another line, about 1 cm medial to that one, running up the arm (distal to proximal), about the same distance. When he scratches them (he tries not to, but sometimes you just gotta), they appear to turn into one big linear welt.

Any ideas? TIA. And many thanks to those who have been following our "saga".

Thank you all for your good answers.

1. What ages are your kids?

15 and 7 (girls)

2. Do they have their own cell phone?

15-year-old does, 7-year-old no.

3. Do they have their own TV and or computer in their room? If so, are there set hours they're allowed to use these:

Neither one has a TV in their room. They share a computer that is located in a place where we can monitor them. They ask permission before getting on and are usually allowed to be on for no longer than hour. Homework has to be finished first though.

4. Do they receive an allowance? If so, are they required to do chores to receive this?

Yes both receive monthly allowances. Yes, they have chores they must do to earn their allowance.
Oldest daughter (15) gets $100 a month, 10% goes to church and 10% goes to savings. The rest is hers to budget for lunch, entertainment, and clothes.

Youngest daughter (7) gets $10. Same deal as the older one -- 10% goes to church and 10% goes into savings. What is left is hers to spend (usually a Webkinz or will save up for a new Nintendo DS game).

:) I got my big ticket item back in October (a Wii I happened upon by accident) so I slept in (until 7:30) and then when DH got home from deer woods, we went out for pizza and beer and then went to Academy before venturing back home to read and watch movies.

Favorite job: Being a staff writer on a weekly newspaper in Princeton, NJ. Did not pay well, but I got enough to live and have pocket money, pay rent, etc. Got to meet a lot of interesting people and interview. My stories ran in the paper, and my job was very flexible, I was single and worked all kinds of hours. Those days I actually lived a dream because I was not in it for money. Or, I should say I made enough to be happy and my job made me happy too.

Worst job was when I was an artist painting faces at Disney in Florida. I thought it would be great. It was the hardest job I ever had. I only lasted 1 day and worked 12 hours and did not even get paid because I was a temp and I did not return after the 1 day. It was a million degrees outside, it seemed (I just moved to Fla from up north), and I never sat down or even had a glass of water in all those hours. I had to smile 110% of the time (that is actually a rule at Disney, you could get in trouble for frowning), and the tourists always wanted more (I know they paid for it, but the line was really long and I only was allowed to spend so much time on each person). This was indeed a dream job, but truly the most difficult job I ever had, and therefore my least favorite.
