I cried when they put that woman in the truck and said she died 2 days later

My plants died when husband still alive but after he died
surprisingly I grew lots of plants and still have them. My housekeeper says he was the devil and that is why the plants died. I was just as bad as you back then, killed artificial plants.
Its for the knowledge you get out of it
When I was in horse 4H, I had a pony, not a horse.  They gave us a handbook that taught us all about horses, the names of all the parts of the horse, proper grooming and saddling, etc.  I learned a lot from those meetings (they were at a farm where they had horses to demonstrate on).  They also had trail rides, etc., which my father refused to let me attend because he was a mean guy (his reason was my pony was so short I was likely to be kicked by someone in front of me with a tall horse).  I did learn a lot and enjoy it, but eventually the disasppointment of never getting to go on any horse activities did me in, and I dropped out.  It did enable to be better around horses, and I went on many rides at my aunt's on her horses, and could always saddle them to her satisfaction.  I'd say, let him go and see how much he can learn.
I don't know, this post down below has me thinking. What are your thoughts, woman to woman. sm
If your spouse came to you and said he was having an affair, would you be more upset if it was with a male or female? For me, definitely a female!  If it were male then I would think that it had absolutely nothing to do with me and everything to do with him. I would be devastated if he were with another woman. Another poster below said she would be more upset if he were found with a male.  What about you?
Anyone with knowledge of strokes? (sm)
My father had a stroke two weeks ago and did not tell anyone - he lives an hour away and I had not seen him - I had talked to him quite a few times on the phone and he kept saying everything was great.  He has a roommate and apparently had told the roommate not to tell me.  So when I saw him in person Friday night, he told me.  It was not really obvious at that time, except when I saw him walk in front of me I noticed one of his legs seemed to drag a little.  I pleaded with him to go home with me and let me take him to a doctor.  But he kept insisting that he was not going to go, that it was two weeks ago and he was okay.  Finally on Monday, my brother (in Florida)  convinced him to let me take him to the doctor, so he said he would let me take him on Tuesday (yesterday) after he got a haircut and got all of his things in order.  Well, Monday evening he got a terrible headache and a pins and needles feeling and his roommate took him to the ER where I met them. By this time he could barely walk and had severe shaking in his left leg and arm.  He had another mild stroke yesterday evening.  He cannot even walk with the aid of a walker.  Here is my question:  Once a person loses function due to stroke can they ever get any of the function back or is it permanent?  Can rehab help them like it helps accident victims?
It might be public knowledge but
how you obtain is another matter. You cannot get someone in a public office (as stated below) to ramble through a persons records. That my dear is against the law and that is what was said and not only that but if the person committed crimes when a child or teenager, those records are sometimes totally off limits and closed to the public. I also have people in law enforcement but if I needed information, would not have them go through the records to get for me and risk losing their livelihood.
I am speaking with very little knowledge here..

I have only met one (1) pit bull in my life.  It was very pleasant, wanted to be petted, and never hostile.  What I did notice is how muscular it was and I remember thinking that I wouldn't want that dog to snap at me.  All dog breeds are capable of being aggressive (especially if there is a dominance issue), but some breeds are more muscular and less *intidimated* by humans than other breeds.   It seems to me (dog experts, please correct me) it would be easier to pull a Yorkie or a Cocker Spaniel off an attacked person than a pit bull.  I don't know how that applies to bigger breeds like labs or retrievers.

However, my humble opinion does not make up for the fact that you could face the loss of a loved family pet.  I hope it works out for you.

Have some animal knowledge

To those of you speaking about how pits are so evil, I have two things to say...

1.  Any dog is capable of that behavior.  We have two dogs and one is a search and rescue dog and both are very loving... but you should never ever underestimate a dog no matter what.  they are still animals and they still respond according to their instincts in certain situations.  ALL ANIMALS have this capability.

That being said...

2.  So if you outlaw pits, who's next?  What animal species will be evil incarnate after that?

Basically, it all boils down to the owners, the training and the language the animal gives off in certain situations.

For example, my friend recently told me that someone she knows put their golden to sleep because it bit their child.  When they euthanized the dog, a technician made the incidental finding that one of the kids had shoved a pen into the dogs ear.  They came to the realization that this is why the dog had bitten, but no one ever even tried to sit down and figure out what had happened... nope, the dog is just put down.. no questions.  You know, I would have torn that kid in two myself if that had happened to me, so its the kid and not the dog.

Go to a dog language class, take some training and learn some things before condemning an animal to death for "instincts" that supposedly only that breed has.  Its ridiculous and completely ignorant.

I have a relative who has a wealth of knowledge
and was telling her about the posts on this board, namely this thread. She tells me she got a high school graduation and later baby shower invite from her great niece- this person never called, never wrote- my relative said they went in the garbage. She and I are on the same page. BTW, I have gotten late calls on days, like Mothers Day, Thanksgiving- etc. from people and I, like you, think after thought.
Back in the 80s my knowledge helped out some
I had all the symptoms that go with hypothyroidism, the intense itching, the never being able to get warm (with blankets over your head, etc.), went to my doctor and told him I wanted along with my physical exam to have test for thyroid as I thought had this. Went back, he forgot to order and so ordered that day, immediately referred to endo because my labs were off the chart, so to speak and lots of you know thyroid can lead to other problems, even death if left untreated. If I had not pushed this time, guess would be pushing up daisies now. For 2 family members I told others to ask for Megace (these people were skeletons and not eating) and because I knew it was appetite stimulant, I could tell them worth a try. Each gained their appetite and at least did not starve to death so after all these years I have learned a little!
excuse my lack of knowledge, but
I thought medicinal marijuana was legalized in CA some time ago. What a horrible situation, this calls for an uprising, let the power of the people be heard. That is exactly why this stuff is going on - we let it.
Excuse me...a little medical knowledge..sm
The IUD prevents any ovum from implanting, including a blighted or fertilized ovum. Sheesh.
i agree. I thought the knowledge level was very poor

We never lost power - had a scary period of time for about an hour - but no damage here. . two bordering counties did have a lot of damage - we were lucky. .

about DD. . I too spent money I really did not have while she was in high school. . She does seem to appreciate things but my future son-in-law's parents just have so much money and they are very controlling - and I have to admit, I am a little jealous. . DD is going this weekend to bridal fair with her future MIL. . I have to work and it is 2 hours from where I live. . but it is always that way... she is always doing things with them... my fiance says they have my DD where they want her . . they will keep her close and I will gradually be cut off. . I really don't think that will happen because DD & I went through a lot together, but you never know.
how do you keep your will power??
You are so lucky you like raw veggies. I dont at all! :(

I am a carb freak! Luckily my metabolism is still high but im nearing my 30s and no children yet so im sure after all that it will go downhill dramatically...

Honestly I would rather have bread or pasta for a dessert than sugary stuff. im not trying to say i dont like dessert because i DO but im in love with bread products, crackers... etc.

goodness...

good for you though!!! i know i need a diet change but i dont have that self control yet!

we can make a quiet knowledge group effort to eliminate him

How we cut our power bill...sm

The bill arrived yesterday and it was $40 less than it usually is when compared to any summer month last year.  Here's how we did this:

  • I enforced people turning off lights when they leave rooms.

  • We switched the light bulbs in the living room and bedroom to the energy saving energystar rated bulbs.

  • When the washing machine died we replaced it with an energy saving one.

I was suprised that the power bill went down this month... especially with it begin summer and having the A/C running.

To help the kids remember to turn off the lights when they leave a room and to not leave water running that is not being used  I gave them the incentive that if the utility bills came in what our usual budget is then they can have the excess money for extra activities this summer.   That has sure gotten their attention!

You are a power of example by helping sm
When I was younger, I would not only cry, sometimes I would not attend or attend and not sleep for days. I think being in the MT business made me realize how short life is. I am amazed that now I look at death in a different way. I cannot believe how I have changed. Most of my friends were brought up to wear black, look sad, cry a lot. I was brought up to avoid it, stay away from wakes and funerals; so could not handle it. Thanks to transcribing so many autopsies, horrible situations, illnesses, educational seminars on death and dying, etc., I am finally able to celebrate life. I do have others now not understanding why I do not cry. It's a miracle to me that I don't have to act that way anymore. I think with age and experience, I have matured. I have a friend who barely worked outside the home. Her Mom died in July and she did not put up a tree, send cards, etc., this Christmas as she is still in mourning officially. I lost my younger sister, put an angel out front, white lights, etc. I did the same for my parents, lots of white lights. I do believe now in celebrating life. I spent the days before my father's funeral preparing a "program" for his funeral which was beautiful. I included my whole family in the funeral, chose the music, etc. This would not have been possible in my younger years. My SIL was confrontational when she saw me at work during the time we were awaiting the funeral (it was over a holiday). I told her I was t preparing for the funeral. There will be some whose family tradition is to cry, wear black, shut out the whole world for 30 days, that's their way. I am so happy that I now have a (what I consider) healthier attitude toward death. I cannot believe the change in my attitude. Perhaps we all celebrate life differently. I, for one, am happy I look at things differently. When people cry, mourn, carry on, it's probably their tradition and it will continue as this is what they are used to. They are not wrong to do so. My DIL's family all wear solid black and God forbid anyone even wear a white blouse to a funeral, it is considered disrespectful!  All I know is, I love the new me, I am much happier today now that I have a different attitude. I hope people celebrate my life, not stop living. I am writing my own obit, short and sweet and will probably plan my own funeral instead of leaving that task to my kids. I celebrate the life and spirt left behind, but do not disrespect those who continue to wear black and cry, as that's the only way they know how to mourn and it's not wrong. We're all different, it takes time and sometimes traditions will never change in some cultures, they are entitled to their actions and opinions, it took me a long time to change but I am much healthier and happier now. All of this is IMHO, of course. You are doing your best in your own way, good job, we need the "doers" in times of grief as well as the mourners. I would rather be a doer and feel better "doing."
power trippin
I told her we could make it a $5 dollar challenge for everyone like a game, but no it has to be a regular present, just at her budget.

The real truth is that last year I went to the fanciest store in the mall and bought her daughter a set of coffee cups she wanted. She was so jealous and mortified that I was making her look bad to her kid. She did not know they were on sale for $2 a set. She thought I was showing off. I thought was buying a present that was requested!
Good for you, now send some of your Will-power my way please. nm

Good for the school! More power to them!
Someone has got to teach the what-comes-up-must-come-down and action/opposite reaction and other such lessons.

power outage yesterday
Will someone explain how it is that a power plant shutting down in Miami yesterday caused 3 million people across the state of Florida including myself to lose power 100s of miles away?  I'm literally like 270 miles away and had no power for 2 hours.  Since I'm an IC, no power equals no work equals no money!  Urggh so frustrating how often we lose power in Florida!
Maybe it was the main power station for
the state, everything may have run through it.
Such as how much nuclear fire-power you have....

USA needs more women in power to balance things

I don't think women's hormones are a reason not to vote for them.  Men (cough Bush cough) tend to have little-man syndrome, or little something else syndrome and like to start big wars to prove something imo.  "Me strong man.  Me powerful."  Their egos are just as dangerous as any hormone fluctuations women may have.

I think we need a more equal balance of men and women in power.  Together we can see every angle of a situation.  Just like with raising children.  Ideally it is best to have both a mother and a father for the child so that it will have the best of both worlds, and I think the same goes for our country.  (nothing against single parents - I was one for a few years, but it was difficult going it alone, and I have the utmost respect for single parents.  They have the hardest job on Earth!)

If you do something like that make sure you have a generator as a source of power.
will eventually run out and you will have no way to recharge it.  In the event of an emergency you would be out of luck unless you have a generator to provide power to the outlets in your home.  We have one landline phone with absolutely no features on it.  It is simply a basic phone line connected to a regular telephone that plugs directly to the phone line.  It is not a phone that requires electricity.  A basic phone line with absolutely no extra features is inexpensive.
Power Outage @ Traffic Intersection
We met during a power failure.  He was running a generator to keep the traffic lights at a railroad crossing working (worked for road commission), and I was at my second job doing transcription and trying to find out when the power would be on so I could do my reports and go home.  Walked up to the intersection and asked him.  He said he would called electric company in about a half hour and check back then.  90 degree heat and humid after hellacious thunderstorms knocked the power out all over the city.  I came back and took him a bottle of water, a cookie, and a bag of chips.  He said thanks and said it would be about one more hour.  He watched me walked back to the building and when the power was on came and told my boss how nice I was and checked the fuse box.  Came back two nights later with flowers and asked me out.  The rest is history . . .   Married five years and still going strong.
Works great for me, too! Power napping and then I work much better, too!
:)

woman to woman talk sm

This has nothing to do with being a christian, it has more to do with group dynamics. I have to deal with it all the time with 6 women in an in-law situation. They are narrow-minded Bible-thumping bigots.I happen to be of another "denomination" and I do attend every function of theirs, weddings, funerals, all of it, receive their communion. I have had my parents die, lost my younger sister and many things happen where they could have reciprocated, yet they will not "step foot" in my church. So where is all their faith, they certainly are not practicing the do unto others. I can relate, it is a horrible way to live. Thank God, I had psychology courses and know about group dynamics, I am in the middle of a herd mentality. I could go on forever, they even have "interventions" when someone in their family wants to marry or date someone not from their denomination. They are awful. I know your pain! It's not your imagination, they hide behind their cohesive "numbers game," one speaks and all the others agree in unison. No one has a chance against this mob. It's tough to be your own person, lots of tears. And guys think it's all in our heads - NOT!  Hang in, perhaps you'll have a Divine Intervention somehow.

My babies liked them, and ....
I liked them, too; once I got used to them that is. It took me a bit to position them in there just so, in a way that I felt they were comfortable. I used it a lot - much easier on tired arms! I also used a front carrier when they were a little older, (like a couple of months old), and liked that just as well. :-)

Forgot I cannot use quotes. My babies are not mine - niece has babies, I just get to be surogate grandma for them. Wish they were my own, but unfortunately, I am way toooo old to raise babies!!
These are my babies....sm

This is CJ, which if you believe others, would be a evil, dangerous, not to be trusted pitbull.  NOT!!  He is so sweet.  Also the beagle is my Darla.  She is very fat and very lazy.  CJ and Darla are bestest friends.

my babies!

Having babies.......
In our case, my hubby and I were married two years before we started our family. My niece, who was 22 at the time, was married less than six months when they decided to have a child. My daughter, now 25, was married 4 years before they started working on a baby and she is now due in February.

Another friend of the family, also in her mid 20s, was married less than a year as well when they decided to have a baby. Another niece was married 10 years before they caved in, or should I say she caved in. Her husband has been wanting a child for years but she was too worried her figure would suffer... (OH BOY!) Well, she is now due in a couple of weeks and he is elated. He is now 36 years old and I too think he has waited long enough. She will have that child so spoiled.

All in all, you need to decide these thing beforehand. If you guys have been together for a while, then maybe starting a family within a year or so isn't such a big deal. I don't really go for all this getting to know one another stuff. You should already know one another before the wedding anyway. So many couples have been together these days for years before getting hitched that I don't really see the need to wait any particular length of time before starting a family.

I must say though, having babies in your 20s is a lot easier when it comes to chasing them around and getting up in the middle of the night over and over. I've had friends have children in their mid to late 30s and a couple in their 40s, and I have to say they lack the energy, especially the 40 somethings. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Just be glad he is looking forward to children and to being a father.... too many dads out there who don't give a rip!
These are my babies....sm
The big bulldog is much more of a tit than the beagle believe it or not. He would just die if I left him somewhere. I don't know what to do with him if we go somewhere.
She died.
The vet looked through the records for these cats and they were apparently 4 weeks old when we go them, which made Little One about 12 weeks old. She still fit in the palm of my hand and weighed a pound. There must have been something genetically wrong with all of them. :(
Oh, that's why he died sm
I haven't been keeping up on the backstage stuff and wondered why he had to die.  I really like the show.  It kind of reminds me of Stephen King's The Stand, which is an all-time favorite of mine.
I say died. Died is died.

My dog died while I was away....sm
I was at the beach this week and he'd been going back quickly, but you always think there's going to be more time.  I knew he wouldn't see the end of summer, but I thought he'd be here when I got home today.  I've been carrying his collar around in my pocket since my husband gave it to me when I got home.
They are now saying he has died. :( nm

I'm walking for babies!

Hello everybody!

I posted this before but i wanted to repost and explain some things. First of all, i never ever receive any of the money when you donate it goes straight to the Walk America people. I just thought this was for a really good cause and thought maybe some of you would want to be included on this serious problem in our world. You can donate as little or as much as you want.

http://www.walkamerica.org/tanyabyer

That is the website they made for me. I'll be walking 4-14 in my hometown. Or if you know anybody that would want to be included let them know! Thanks so much for your time and i won't repost this again lol. Just thought some of you thought maybe it was a scam or something.

Thanks again.

My Furry Babies

The bigger one is Mojo and the skinnier one is Mimi.  Mimi showed up on our door a year ago as a stray - very skittish, skin and bones.  She disappeared a month later, showed back up two months after that and has never tried to leave the house again!

Aren't our babies fun??
My Simon tries to put two toys in his mouth and throws them at my feet when I'm working - okay, I get the hint!!  80 degrees in Texas Monday - awesome.
Your babies are adorable!
I think it is really sweet that you love them so much that seeing their picture makes you teary. I am sure that they miss you as much as you miss them. Hopefully, you will be reunited soon!
I agree with you that these babies need
support, but I don't think any monetary donations made will go to these babies.  I'm hoping the mother receives WIC to provide them with formula and food stamps to provide for the older children.  If anyone wants to make donations, I would suggest all donations be made in the form of diapers, clothes, toys, etc.  No money, no way.

PS -- I would adopt one of these babies as well, but I think the mom is too selfish to give them up.
