In Reply to: Okay, Utah passed a law permitting college students to now carry guns. sm - Let's see

College students: average age 18-22 years old.

Campus life: High rate of sex, drugs and rock and roll.

The state is legally putting a deadly weapon in the possession of an 18-22 year-old living in a college environment?

Dorms/apartments usually have 2-6 students living in them. Revolving door to dorm or apt. and roomies, their friends, and friends of friends coming and going frequently. Someone sees a gun or knows of one in the residence and finds it or sees it just lying there on a desk. Could be a jealous girlfriend/boyfriend, someone who hates a professor, alcohol, drugs could be involved in influencing actions, theft of weapons to sell on street, on and on and on the possible scenarios go, none of which are good.

Wrong environment, wrong age group for legal possession of firearms.

I wonder though how many have a gun, law or no law, on campus. Wonder if the professors do? Maybe making it legal is just a technicality when it comes to who actually possesses a gun.

What a scary world we live in.
