In Reply to: Again, it can happen with any breed. Look at pitbulls.. - some of them see CHILDREN as prey. nm

I have a pitbull and I also have a child. My pitbull, CJ, has never seen my child as prey. He loves my son with all his heart and would die to protect him. Maybe some pitbulls who have never seen children and aren't socialized properly, maybe. Or if a child taunted the dog maybe. Pitbulls are dogs who require very responsible owners. These dogs must be kept in an enclosed fenced yard. Some are weary of strangers. The aggression usually comes from fear and protecting their territory. Mine is kept in a fenced yard when he isn't in the house. He will get ugly if he doesn't know you but once he gets to know you you are his best friend and he would do anything to please you.
