I have a 3-1/2 yo basset, Biscuit, he cries and whines all the time sm
I bought him from a chain pet store and he was a little older when I got him. He was difficult to train too, but I hear that hounds are generally. I had a boxer who was so gentle and calm, took me a while to get used to the basset!
Does anyone have or has had a basset hound?? sm
We have a 5 month old basset, girl, and all she seems to do is cry. We have 3 other dogs (other breeds), males, and they never cry except when they need to go out. This little one just wines and cries all the time. She was sick with pneumonia and kennel cough when we got her and was also having some kind of anxiety or depression because all of her siblings were gone. She had given up on life and had quit eating and drinking.  She adjusted well in our home and loves the other dogs and our kids. She is healthy now, but still cries a lot. Just wondering if this is a basset trait, a girl-dog trait, or is it just her?? Thanks!
We had to put our Basset Hound to sleep today

she wasn't feeling well and was having a lot of back pain and trouble breathing. My vet took a back xray, which was fine, but he said the chest xray was abnormal. We took her for an ultrasound, and the result was advanced lung cancer. It was a struggle for her to get air, because she had so much fluid built up around her lungs and heart. The vet said they could extract the fluid, but it would build back up again.

The vet said it was a really bad case, and with chemo, she'd probably only live 6 months to a year, and even that wasn't guaranteed. She said she could start LouLou on chemo and she could die in a week or two. She also said with the fluid buildup, we'd have to keep taking her in to have fluid extracted. She was just 2.5 years old.

We're pretty sad.

How cute, is the little one a beagle or basset hound? nm

It's funny watching my Basset Hound in the snow, it's over his back! nm

We also have a hamster named Sandy.
that's a GREAT story - don't get mad, get even...

What a great story.
I hope they both sleep happily on (or in) your bed and there is still room for you. :o)

I remember my DH one time coming into the bedroom and launching himself into the air, planning to land on the bed next to me. That's when I had to announce that there was a cat under the covers he was about to land on, so he had to change his plan in mid-air.
Great story! NM

That is such a great story!!!!!! Loved it.

That is a great story. Made my day. Thx for sharing.

Hey, that is my in hometown area, same county as me. Great story.

That is a great success story! I am really happy to hear that (sm)
someone got out of a really bad situation and worked hard and made it and is now happily married. That's the dream.
Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit - sm
All this time I thought they were the same thing because at the roadside stand it said "cracklin pork", so I just thought it must be pork skins like I see in the store (and yes, they are with the potato chips).  Guess this AL transplant has not even known there was a difference.  Thanks for clearing that up.    All I know is I cannot stand the sight or smell of either of them.
We have a basset with anxiety (sm)
He's an old male and whines and howls a lot, particularly when we have company. He's always been like that. When he's particularly bad, my husband was instructed to give him an antianxiety drug. (I'm not sure which one--he had specific instructions of which I am unclear.) Our female basset is happy, jumpy, playful, and silly.

I'm not sure, but maybe your basset just has that kind of personality like our basset does. My husband has raised several bassets. This male dog he has is the only one that has had anxiety problems. He's raised several female bassets with no anxiety, excessive whining, or excessive howling problems like the male.

Our boy dog howls so much sometimes that his voice gets hoarse. It's so sad to hear it happen.
I have a hound who is 3 now, he was the HARDEST dog SM
I have ever had to train! I think basset hounds in generale are difficult to train. Just be patient, she will "get it" soon.

I was used to having boxers before we got the basset.
BOYCOTT!! I think she is a media hound (nicer word than what I really think) sm
and we should not dignify what she has done by giving her one iota of attention. And any station that decides to give her a "show" (like Jon&Kate plus 8 or that Duggars Giant humongous family - disgusting) should be absolutely boycotted and all their sponsors too. Promoting this stuff is just WRONG.
Seems to me that I have read the basset hounds are prone to spine problems...
because they have long bodies and short legs leading to lameness and paralysis, but I wouldn't figure that a puppy would already be having these problems.
Nope ~ used to have a cat named Sam...
now have 2 cats, Lucky and Tripp, and a shetland sheepdog, Casey, which was on my list of baby names, but DH didn't like it.
Cats named Bob

We name almost all our cats Bob, but we have last names, which we call them by like:

Marley, Bob

Eubanks, Bob

Dylan, Bob

Barker, Bob

and my friend had a Maine Coon named Joe Bob!  He was huge!

We  cats here too, but currently don't have one.  Maine Coons are darling.

If there is a will but no executor named, then
the state steps in as executor and makes sure that the heirs named in the will get their rightful share, according to your grandfather's wish.

Only in the case when there are no heirs and no will, the assets go to the state.
Yikes!! She named names!!

Thanx! Saw a boat named that once, but it suits me better!

I have a Red Heeler named Eddie, a
an African Grey Parrot named Casey.
A doggie named Auggie. (nm)

a cat named Dogfood - that is awesome! nm

OJ Simpson is named a suspect
in a break-in at a Las Vegas casino hotel room.  Supposedly  he went into someones room and took items that he said belonged to him because they were stolen from him. Can't wait to hear the rest of this story.  Just came across on MSNBC and now FOX News.
my cousin who is 6Ɖ'/280 lb is named HERB!
I've always said it with the H simply because of my cousin's name. He is named Herbert, Herb for short, so it is very hard for me to think of cilantro as an erb.
doc named Harry Roach
x
girlfriend named Shirley. What's not to like?
x
As you and your brother are named your grandtather's will as
beneficiaries, you and your brother will get your share. Your aunt cannot do anything against this.
The executor's duty is only to see that the stipulations in the will are respected Yaund each heir named in the will gets his/her share. The executor 'represents' the heirs only and is entrusted with the paperwork related to the execution of the will.
Your aunt is not allowed to cannot change anything in the will that your grandfather made.
Do you have a copy of this will?
Go the lawyer and have a meeting with him, especially if you are suspicious that something might go wrong.
Your brother should support you in this matter.
SURE,his wife and 2 children were named, I bet...
How come that they could not locate them? Unbelievable, hsi wife and children??
We have 4 cats and 1 turtle...all named by my son...sm
The white cat is named Spotty because when he was little he had a black smudge between his ears. Now he is all white. Our black cat is named Ping Ball because he sleeps all day and pings off the walls all night. My oldest cat is named Mittens because she has extra toes front and back and her front paws are shaped like little mittens. Our big fluffy Maine coon cat is named Sashee. We named her Sassy at first. DH used to call her Sasha. Then we went to get her fixed and found out that SHE was a HE. So Sashee is a combination of both.

Our turtle is named Skurtle. Yes, close to Yertel, but the son was insistent. LOL.

My dad had a German shepard when he was growing up named Soxapuss. Not a clue as to that one. LOL.

Sometimes if you just wait to see the pet, a name will just pop into your head. But in our case, it helped to have a little kid.
Any updates on a boy named Connor?
It's been quite a while since anything's been posted, but I wondered how he was doing. I think the last I remember, he was inundated with hats that he had wanted to collect from every state.
No. Two cats named Raquel and Roscoe. NM
Nm
One of my friends has a 13 yo daughter named Katrina.
She's really hated her name since the hurricane.
reminds me of a former poster here named Joyce

The little dogs are named after WWII players...

Winston (the Churchill), Patton (the general), and Sherman (the tank).  All are little yappy dogs with severe "little man" syndromes.  My husband picked those names.  All the other names I picked...garden-variety simple girly girl names for my female farmyard animals.

Calico Persian named Xanadu - sm
(How did you get a picture in here?) If I knew, I'd post one.
A very beautiful girl named Sophia
My dear friend's chow, I had to share, just love this picture.
Poster named 'Trying to be cheerful'....

I hope you are feeling better today!  Please let us know how you are doing....sometimes it helps to just talk, even if it's about nothing!

Take care of yourself, okay?

Here in GA is a doctor named Bhushit Dixit, M.D. Look him up. nm
.
My sister once went to school with a girl named
For those 3 years everyone knew her as "Cindy". Then came Graduation, and the fact that they read out everyone's full, given name, and the truth was out. Bet she changed it when she turned 18!
It's named Gardasil. Unless it is government or state funded.....(sm)

I can not see too many parents jumping at this opportunity.  It is a noncovered service by all insurances.  It is given in a series of 3 separate injections.  The current recommendation is to be given to young girls between the ages of 10 to 12.  So if a parent decides to vaccinate her little girl against this, I guess the "bird and the bees talk" will have to be undertaken before the little girl asks "Why I am going to the doctor to get a shot, and what is it for?  (given the very natural inquistive nature of children on all subjects.)

No smoking in public places, must wear seat belt in car, must wear bicycle helmet, and some states helmet required when riding motorcycles, restaurants not using transfats in their cooking,.....WHEN WILL ALL THESE NON-SELF INFLICTED RESTRICTIONS STOP????????...IS THIS STILL AMERICA??

I named my daughters Katie Ann and Kelsey Nicole. sm
Our son is Kyle. I also like the name Kellen for a boy or a girl. Good luck!
