They have fallen short on their government contract money where my husband works and are asking for volunteers to take a day off each week without pay for a lot of next year, or at least until they can get more funds approved. This will not impact healthcare, etc., but it will reduce our income by around 10K or so. Some people have already said they would do it but, naturally, others do not want to give up pay or have it be seen that maybe things go along quite fine with them on their day off every week. The other side of the coin is not being seen as a team player. Which way to go here??
