Has anyone filed bankruptcy separate from their spouse?
My husband and I have all bills and checking accounts separate except for the cars and we split the household bills.  I have a ton of credit card debt and with MT pay being less all the time, was thinking this may be the only way out.  I know the spouse doesn't have to file if their name isn't on the account, but is this very hard to do?  Thanks for any info.
File for bankruptcy protection if you have equity in your home

Years ago I took bankruptcy and then
after that time only paid cash for things. Years down the road when I wanted to buy something on credit, had an absolutely clean record, no bads, no goods, almost like first starting out. Since the early 70s I have repaired my credit to the point I could buy about anything I want to today but-I would much rather pay out of pocket than to owe and owe probably overall less than $10,000, just hate to go in debt. Have some property I am selling soon so that amount will be paid off leaving me with a clean slate. You can get yourself out of debt, you can take bankruptcy and still come back, your credit can be horrible and you can recoup. It takes time to do this but it is so important now with so many people checking your credit just to see if you are a good risk. Recently put about $10,000 in a CD in a new bank and they checked my credit just to open that acct! I know they are checking credit reports now for housing and jobs so best to try to improve a bad one.
I worked in bankruptcy law for several years... sm
Let me preface this by saying this is NOT LEGAL ADVICE. It is simply information I have gleaned by working for collection law firms over th years. The lawyers I worked for advised me personally to always put "PAID IN FULL" on any check you send to pay something off. When a creditor gives you a payoff amount, it is THEIR responsibility to get it correct; if they don't, the "PAID IN FULL" is a legal agreement that they accepted that as full payment. It saved me a lot of heartache over the years.

Now, don't try this on your mortgage or if you owe a substantial balance; that it not what we are talking about. That is fraud if you do it, and it will not work.

It never hurts to use those little "note" lines on your checks to record your honest intentions. Then, you have grounds to fight back when they try to charge something unfairly, i.e., finance charges after the fact. Food for thought.
How far away from your grandparents do you live?

It sounds like it would be better for you to talk directly to your grandparents if possible, instead of your aunt or cousins. Just leave them out of the loop if they are going to act this way.

You have a right to name your child whatever you choose. I don't understand why these people are getting so upset. But sometimes people - especially family - will use the least little excuse to create drama. You don't need that in your life, especially not with a new baby to take care of.

If your grandparents live far away, do they have any neighbors are friends that they are close to who could help keep an eye on them for you? My mother had a couple of neighbors who all looked out for her and each other - if one was gone one of the others would watch the house and take in the mail, or if they hadn't seen one of them in a while, they would go check on them, things like that. If your grandparents have neighbors they are close to, you might do better calling them instead of your family. Sad but true.

Good luck. I hope you are able to see and talk to your grandparents. Don't let these other folks get you down. They'll get over it eventually.

Since you live in a small town
and you say people know your dog, perhaps you could leave your new address and phone # with several people. If he does show up, surely someone will contact you. Wishing you the best.
Thanks. I thought it might be a small town. I live SM

in south central PA, so the drive would be significant. It would be so wonderful to see him and to see him as a minister.

Do MT live in small towns or big cities
I live in a city of 2.5 million.
I met my husband in the small town I live in...sm
I was 17 years old and me and a friend were out cruising the town one weekend night. He kept following me and my friend and flirting and waving. Finally we got up the nerve to stop and didn't get out our car. He came up and introduced himself along with his twin brother. They flipped a coin to decide who would ask for my phone #. I gave it to him but it was about a month or two before he called. I actually had forgotten him. He called and refreshed my memory and the rest is history. We began to date and a couple years later married. We have been married for 11 years now.
Even though I live on a small, narrow street in a - sm
small town, Google shows not only my front yard and street, it even shows my car parked on the street! Amazing! What I'd like to know is how they take all those photos? When my car is home, so am I (working, as usual), and looking out my window. So I'd like to know how they got the photo without me seeing them do it. (I'm not talking about the aerial satellite pictures, but the street-level views.)

It DOES come in handy! If I'm going to store I haven't been to before, I can scope it out on Google so I know what it looks like and I don't drive past it. I also sometimes use it to look for new bike paths in different towns. (Usually near parks and rivers).

There sure are a lot of fun ways to waste your time on the internet, aren't there?

I live in a very small town (pop 8000) and

each year, the muncipality I live in sponsors a kids camp.  It's run by college kids and is usually held at one of the parks.  Check with your local borough/municipal office to see if they'll be doing anything like that.

Our churches also offer free kid programs during the summers, usually 2 to 3 days a week.  Check those out as well.  Is there a softball summer league she can join?  Check with the schools to see if they're offering any summer programs.

I know how hard it is to keep 'em busy during the summer.  I have 3 and working from home isn't always easy.  If it's not too expensive, maybe she could join the community pool.

When all else fails, put 'em to work.  Give her a daily list of chores to do and offer her a small allowance for completing it.  That should give her some spending money and mom a little break.

I do not live in a home of my own and am not permitted to SM
have a pet. I am surprised that is such an issue.  I love animals dearly. I would take every stray I could find if I had the money and the property to do so.
I know and even sadder that once she is old enough
to realize who her mom was and how she was, and that her dad was out of a possible half dozen men, many of them losers, she'll probably wish she never was. It's too bad she can't be adopted into a wonderful family and never find out the truth. Too often children definitely are not better off with the biological parents/family. People now donate eggs and sperm to strangers! Does that mean the donors would make the better parents than the couple who raises that baby because it's technically their biological child? Yeah, I didn't think so. The only one I feel for is that child.
If can live together as friends, yes. If home is battle

Working at home for 17 years
I've been doing MT at home since my oldest was 2 weeks old. I have pictures of her at 18 months old at my computer with the headphones on, trying to be like Mom. Accidents happen whether you are working, washing the dishes or watching your children like a hawk. It is all worth it for the kids when they come home from school and yell Hi Mom and I am always here for them.
You are right, Misha. They can live up to 20 years and are (sm)

just darling. One came in second at a dog show I attended in April in the Nonsporting Group and I nearly fell out of my chair!  Screamed so loud I was hoarse the next day as the captain ran the ring!  No wonder they used this great little watch dog originally on barges. If the Scottish Deerhoud would have won that night they would have carried me out!

Not where I live, 30 years to life?
Most do not even get 30 years for a murder.
I have colored my hair for years at home..sm
I have extremely long hair, almost to my waist and very thick. I am very very pale, but my natural color is a dark brown. I swear I look like I am going for the goth look if I dont color. I have used home coloring on my hair for years and have never had a problem. The girl that cuts my hair gave me some great tips years ago and you really cannot tell that I do it at home instead of a salon. I use Loreal natural blond on the roots only about every 6 weeks. ABout every other color I comb the color through the ends to give the rest a color boost. I would never spend big bucks on coloring when I can do it at home and get the same thing. Just make sure you stick with one product. If that one doesnt work dont keep adding more to it. Wait for it to be gone from your hair, or have it stripped out and then try something else. And use a good conditioner--that is the most important. Good luck!
My vet said that parvo can live in your soil for up to 7 years.

Also that puppies have a lot of the antibodies in their system from their mothers for a couple of months after birth and that if the parvo immunization is given to early, it can be ineffective because of that.

Also, fleas can spread parvo as well, which my new puppy did get fleas right before she got sick.  I try to treat fleas quickly, but I guess I may not have caught them quick enough.

Even sadder, more infuriating...on CNN,grandmom has announced she is "abandoning her daughter, sh
This grandmother needs big time help herself. Where the heck was she when she "enabled" her daugher to live with her, support her, and have the six previous children, let alone the IVF which resulted in these tiny innocent sweet babies??? NOW she wants to walk away because people are asking for her accountability in allowing this to happen in her house with her daughter?????? WHAT??? This is such a sick, dysfunctional family, I pray that everyone out there prays for these little infants, and the six little siblings at home, they are facing such a messed up, contentious, painful future because of their mother's/grandparents incomprehensible choices. Wow.
Ours attend local college PT and still live at home. Hard to make ends meet "out there" on

What a blow. I have filed BK before, but sm
I never had any money in the bank they could freeze.  BK puts a stop to just about everything people are trying to get from you.  Mortgages, rentals, all of that.  It stops.  Call your bank and keep asking if they have the case number, or make your attorney do it.  The minute they get the BK case number, they should unfreeze your funds.   It doesn't have to take a week, if someone is on top of it.  If your attorney has a case number now, call then bank and give it to them.
My husband filed
but I don't believe we had any bills in both our names, so he just claimed everything that was in his name... I don't remember how they did the regular household bill portion, except we had to fill out a monthly budget form... it has been several years ago now, I don't really remember much more about it.  Sorry.
Saw your post and you can come out of bankruptcy
smelling like a rose. I declared many years ago, and I have the best possible credit now ever. I do not care for credit, turn it down most of times when offered, have 1 credit card, paid off my other, well actually have a Home Shopping acct, forgot about that but really I keep my credit under control. I just had really big renovation done at my home and paid up front for all that. I just HATE to owe like in years past. I have 2 children, 1 is a real dead-beat when it comes to finances and the other probably has credit as good if not better than mine. Go figure! Credit is being responsible and working hard enough to pay for it once you have it and not be slack about it. I learned lessons from years ago, worked really hard and now have bills under control instead of people calling dunning me for money I owe.
Bankruptcy in FL - any info?....sm

I divorced about a yr and a half ago and have been slowly drowning since. It's been recommended that I look into filing bankruptcy and since I just had a car repo'd, I'm leaning that way.  The problem is, there are no bankruptcy attorneys in my area and the closest bankruptcy court is 3-1/2 hours away so I don't know where to begin.  Do I need an attny or do I try one of those online services that prepares the paperwork for you?  How hard is it/how bad?

If anyone has filed under the new laws (after 2005) and has any info/advice, I'd really appreciate it.  I'm a wreck and any information would be a great help.

bedroom
That is very strange! I agree that is our time. Why bother getting married if you don't share the same bedroom. That sounds like a house for people that want a divorce but stay together for the kids!
I'm in the bedroom...
Unfortunately, the unfolded laundry gets shuffled from my chair to the bed and back and forth. Folded laundry ends up on the corner of my desk and the other corner of my desk has little toys and a gameboy on it from my 7 yo because he likes to watch TV in my room and it's right beside my desk. Top of my desk has hubby's wallet, loose change, etc. (sigh)
In the bedroom too but I sit next
to 2 ceiling to floor windows. It's not bad except when the sun hits the screen and in the winter it's a little cold by the windows so I use a heating pad to snuggle up with. It would be nice to get more exercise than bending over to turn the computer on from the bed.
It is called Bankruptcy Protection for this reason
I'd make a personal appearance at the bank with a letter from your attorney if the money is desperately needed.
I filed separate from my spouse at the time--sm
against an old (over 10 years) student loan that I had. That was the only thing I filed against and it was way before my spouse and I had even married. Even though I filed in my name only, it affected his credit too, just because we were married. It continued to affect his credit even after we divorced 10 years later. Better think twice. It is not always a good idea to file bankruptcy as a way out of debt. Cut up those cards and start paying cash for things you want/need. The interest on most of those cards will keep you in debt forever. Been there! but not any more! good luck to you!
Gosh, darn he filed the plate down,
not the sores.
Got mine 5/16. Filed first part of February.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/01/30/earlyshow/health/main4764432.shtml

just redid my bedroom
I had a beige color rug put down (old hardware floors were there that we were going to resurface but decided to do rugs.  I have red walls.  I bought a new bedroom set since mine was 27 years old and it was a large colonial with the big head board and foot board.  I bought a maple set with the iron head board and foot board.  They have a touch of maple wood through them  I have a black bedspread and black curtiains tied back with gray cloth blinds that are very room darkenening at night which is great.  I have red sheets and on top of the bed I have various black and red throw pillows.   I also have a black iron wall plaque that holds about 10 candles in back of the bed.  It actually is nicer than it sounds. People think black is depressing but with the red accents it is very nice.   I got so many compliments.
Mine use to be in the bedroom in my
old house before I moved and actually had an office. The only problem was when I had to work early on a weekend morning and my BF was still asleep. Ever tried typing "quietly?" Can't be done.
We got our check last week. We electronically filed our taxes
and check was a direct deposit. This will help us with our home improvements.
Opinions on bedroom windows...

I am bringing this up from a thread below since I would like to get some opinions. I have room darkening shades that I have stapled right onto the trim but it does not work quite as well as I would have hoped. I have not found a way to block it so that no light comes in at all. I have blankets over the curtain rod and blankets laying across the top because of the light that comes in at the top.

Also he runs a fan to block daytime noise and so it causes the blankets to move and flutter.

Here is an idea I had but would have to figure out how to build it. Window cornice(?) that would cover the entire window. Four 2x4s long enough to box in the window completely and piece of plywood over it, cover with fabric of some kind (curtainy)and install it on the window. I would also like to figure out a way to make it removable so during the days he's not in there I would have natural light. I was even thinking I could insulate the inside of the box.

I am looking for any and all opinions. Even the littlest light in there bothers him.

Thinking of redecorating my bedroom (M)
I was trying to get ideas on what color to paint the walls and I can't decide when I buy a new set if I want dark or light furniture.  Does anyone really love their bedrooms and if so maybe I could get some ideas.  I'm really not that great with this stuff.  Thanks in advance.
my cat is 16. she went from living in my empty bedroom to my closet. sm
She goes between my closet and my husband's closet. She is eating well but just does not want to be bothered with us. She has always been a bit shy.
Holmes HEPA filter in bedroom - sm
I have had mine for 9 years now. Still works just fine. Best of luck!
"trees" are up. I have 2. Ordered one this year for our master bedroom and sm
it is huge!! We have vaulted ceilings. Then we have our 7.5 in our living room. The one in our bedroom is near the fireplace and has very nice collectable ornaments and the other tree has just memorable ones, ornaments kids made, etc.

But my favorite decoration this year is a topiary that I made. I wish I could take a picture. I love it! I just made it up with leftover things I already had. It is gorgeous. Sits on my dining room table as a centerpiece. Having a huge Christmas party tomorrow night.
grandparents

I'm curious about how involved grandparents are in your child/children's lives........ how often they visit with them; overnight stays; extracurricular activities; babysitting, etc.

If you are a grandparent, how involved are you?

grandparents
My parents were very involved with my daughter when she was growing up - she stayed with them an average of 2-3 nights/per month. . She loved everything about them and everything they did. .they didn't spend a lot of money on her but always gave her tons of time. . as she got older, they would go to her school activities, etc. . After she could drive and after my dad died, she would take my mom places - shopping, out to eat, etc. . Mom died last May and it was hard for all of us. . My ex-husband's dad died before our daughter was born and his mother has never been much of a grandparent. . she lives in another state but still makes little attempt to be a grandmother - when my ex died (daughter's dad) her grandmother asked her what she could do to be a better grandmother. . she was told just call sometimes, send a birthday card, Christmas card, etc. . but she still made little attempt to stay in touch. . My daughter (who is almost 23 now and on her own) called me the other day because she was so excited she had received a letter from her grandmother. . In my opinion, grandparents can contribute so much. . I can't wait to be one!
Grandparents
My children are extremely close with their grandparents on both sides. My DH father passed away when my son was 6 months old and it breaks my heart that none of his grandchildren ever got to know what an incredible man he was. Both my children as well as my 3 nieces are extremely close with DH mother. She has always attended their school/sport events. When they were younger (there are 5 grandchilden in all) she would take one child out every Friday night and let them pick where they ate and what they wanted to do. They then spent the night with her. Last Sunday after church my son spent the afternoon with Granny just running errands.

My children are also very close to my parents. I lost my mother 3 years ago but they spent a lot of time with her and she was always at their activities, usually with DH mother. My father and stepmother don't seem to make it to very many of the kids events due to their schedule, but they are very mucha part of their lives. They are a lot better at being grandparents then they were parents. LOL!
What you say about how grandparents should do
My grandchildren are up some size and they could come see me. Do they? No. I did my part in keeping my children close to their grandparents as youngsters but my DIL so wound up in her own family, the paternal side just does not matter. I don't even try anymore.
I'm from KY and my dad and all 4 grandparents used
to eat scrambled pig brains every once in a while for breakfast. They slaughtered their own hogs, so they were available occasionally. That is one thing I never tired. We ate squirrel growing up too. And to this day still love fried country ham and red-eye gravy with homemade biscuits.
Grandparents are not involved much. . sm
It's funny you should ask this question today. My mom, who lives 90 minutes away, came for a visit. We haven't seen her in about 4 months. My 2-year-old didn't know who the heck she was and was scared of her for the first day she was here. We only see her 3 to 4 times a year. I wish we could see her more. My dad died when my oldest was one. He had never even met him.

My husband's parents have little to do with the kids. They live 20 minutes away, and we hardly see them. It really hurts because they always have my SIL's kids. They are the same age as my kids and spend almost every weekend at their house. During the summer, they spend even more time with them. After a couple of years of this, I finally asked them why they don't ever have my kids over. They said they will try to spend more time with them. Last summer, they invited the oldest to spend one night, and the SIL's kids were there. I am giving up. Sorry this got so long. I am really sad about this right now.
Are your grandparents your father's parents?
If so, maybe they are angry that you named baby after step-dad instead of their son. They expect you to be loyal to your Dad but not your stepdad who I would assume was in your life as much as your real Dad if not more. Families can be such selfish hypocrites. Where is their loyalty to you and their gratefulness to a man who probably helped raise you. I would cut them off in a New York minute. If you have children and a sister, you have family. Take care.
Is giving grandparents a scrapbook
I think it would be, but decided to get opinions. Thank you in advance.
