Yeah, she lets pans sit overnight from cooking

sandwiches or eggs and then uses them the next morning to cook the same or she will just wipe them out with a paper towel and call them clean...no way! When she lived with us, I would have to get to them before she had a chance to use them the next morning on the kids before I got up!

Pans
Don't waste money on All-Clad, buy the Kirkland tri-ply bottomed ones at Costco! They are hands down the BEST! I saved one All-Clad, gave my Calphalon, etc. to my son, copper pots to my daughter's friend, and kept my cast iron chicken fryer (gotta have it) and cast iron pizza pan (Lodge). You don't need a stone wtih the cast iron pizza pan. Best pizza I ever had comes from that pan. I liked Calphalon, but hated cleaning it. If someone accidentally "dishwashers" it there are horrible marks all over it (like white haze on top of the dark gray) and they can't hold a candle to Kirland's copper/aluminum and whatever bottom core. These pans rock. I kept all my LA Creseut, of course, the roasters cook better than a crock pot and save money on energy because they retain so much heat. You can turn off a dish an hour ahead and they finish cooking on their own. Now I am really hungry, so have to go and find something to eat. In case you can't guess I love all things FOOD including pots and pans! Hope you get some and get the best ones you can afford. I had to wait years and years of my life for the ones I have. My first ones were castoffs from everybody and they were okay, but now I have the ones that I love and that work best!
I need new pots and pans.
Does anyone have some kind that they really like? Thanks.

pots and pans
I bought my husband Wolfgang Puck's Cafe Collection last year for Christmas - he loves them! Got them at Sam's Club for 100.00. Heavy weight, even cooking, glass lids.
Pots & Pans sm

Yes, go to the Dollar Store, buy all kinds, then buy a couple rolls of aluminum foil to line pans.. Bake in oven as often as possible, bread crumbs and a little non-fat oil go a long way! After using once, throw foil away, use new foil to line pan, use again. After pan falls apart, make the decision whether to buy another one for a buck!  Worried about veggies? Do the same, steam veggies in pan lined with foil, follow directions as above. Save money, clean bill of health. Who needs Cephalon?? Be good to yourself, you work, Lady! Well, just kidding but I do this sometimes when I need a break and it works, really!!! I heard Cephalon and T-Fall are good. But how do I know? I like throw away better, too busy for all that other stuff. Good luck to you. Each time I open my cupboard door, I get hit in the head. Rather it be lightweight aluminum than a great big real pan. Happy Turkey Day. Using one of those dollar store bought ones for that. It has a really cool double strength bottom and I can throw it away after. To each his/her own, depends on the situation and whether or not you might get caught!!

Guys and pans - Arrgh!

Every man I've ever lived with is like that with nonstick pans.  They snatch the best, most expensive one, and won't rest until its completely ruined!  If you can ever train one NOT to use metal in them (nearly impossible), then they will refuse to clean them properly (baking gunk on top of gunk over and over during midnight pigouts when you're not looking).  No matter where you hide the pans, they will bypass the old fashioned kind AND the ones they've already ruined and zero in on the new one you were trying to keep safe!  And then lie, deny and argue even when you're sticking the damage right under their nose.

These are the same kind of guys who have to leave a wet dishrag/sponge/whatever under a pile of dishes in the sink whenever they get near a kitchen no matter how many times you show them how gross a dishrag gets when they do that.  Even with the dishwasher a foot away.  Lately my guy has taken to leaving empty dishes, containers, wraps, etc. in the refrigerator - I guess he's having a science project to see how long it takes me to see them and get them out of there.

I think its just passive aggression - they figure if you get tired of it you'll do all the kitchen stuff, including cooking snacks in advance for their midnight pigouts.  I fantasize about padlocking my kitchen (or at least cupboards with good pans, dishes, etc.) and not let them in it without supervision - which is impossible as they always want to eat when I'm either working or asleep.

One of these days he's gonna find a favorite T-shirt at the bottom of his pile of dishes, as well as tools dented, bent and scratched scattered in weird places throughout the house.  Maybe then....no, I'm just having another fantasy.  They won't learn, its the war between the sexes, and it never ends.

as I'm aging, I do not like HEAVY pots/pans

La Crueset was too heavy for me as is cast iron plus cast iron is bad for people with hepatitis problem(s) so I tend to stay away from cast iron (puts off iron in the food and hepatitis C feeds on iron) as I have a family member with this particular hepatitis.

My hands are also very bad after transcribing for 30+ years - so I tend to want nonaluminum lighter cookware which would be something like Farberware or Revereware if they still make the latter.  *lol*

I have used disposable pans and made pies before. Went over VERY well. nm

I definitely think having her stay in hospital overnight would be best.

How about staying overnight at somebody's house
or even in a hotel, and not being able to figure out the shower controls. I don't know why a shower fixture designer would be so mean as to hide basic controls, but one design that has stumped me turned out to be a little ring that appeared to be a nonmoving part of the faucet, that had to be pulled upward. If you couldn't find it, you couldn't get the water to go from the lower faucet up to the showerhead. Furthermore, all the control it gave you was on or off, instead of being able to control water pressure.

Sheez, why the secret? It's not as if it is even an attractive design!

Never tried it, the name reminded me of an overnight laxative. nm

I know, but backbones don't grow overnight.
I also realize that I 'lived' before my kids came into this word.

And I know I made bad decisions that turned me into a single mom.

I'm not saying I hate my life. I'm just tired. I probably wouldn't know how to live at this point anyhow.

You are 100% right and I'm not making excuses, but it didn't get like this overnight and it won't change overnight.
I still get a couple loaf pans of it every year at butchering time

DH doesn't touch it but I love it. I grew up on it too.

I also grew up on Spam. Mom had a stove that had a pull out griddle above the oven and she would put spam and egss on there for a Tuesday night supper.

I have 2 cans of Spam in my pantry now. The ingredients state: Pork with ham, mechanically separated chicken, water , salt, modified potato starch, sugar, hickory smoke flavoring (I have the hickory smoke flavor), and sodiu nitrite. Opps. There's that bad word-sodium nitrite.

I've got Cuisinart hard anodized pots and pans
They still look like they came out of the box and they're about 4 years old. I'm impressed because I used to go through a set a year on the average so I bit the bullet and paid more money and I'm glad I did.

Well, lets see, I was born in
1943 so I think probably around before most on these posts and lived through a myriad of history and information. What I said was if Merck did not make the profits, another drug company would. That is all. Millions, trillions made all the time on drugs. I am sure all pharmaceutical companies lobby for their drugs. If not 1 drug company, just will be another. I have no children that would require this and I do not live in Texas but if they are going to be mandatory in Texas, probably coming your way before long.
Lets see if this is as long as I think it is - sm

After graduation -

Took a break from guys the rest of college-2 years-and concentrated on grades.

After college:

Ok, lets take a poll, how many out there

Beauty is as beauty does.
You could always lets her knock it over once - sm
ours did that when she was about 9 months old, now never messes with it. She likes to lie under the tree but does not mess with a thing. But we do have a cat that is more like a dog though, sleeps at my feet in bed, only scratches on her scratching post, comes over when she wants to be petted or held, is just a good cat. Her only real flaw is her puking, she pukes at least once a week, usually on the carpet. If she could contain it to the tile floors I would care less but she has a nasty habit of doing it anywhere and usually on the carpet. I do give her the hairball stuff (which I have to sneak and just put it on her paw (top side) so she has to lick it off) which helps a lot with that, still aggravating. It is funny to see her laying under the tree, usually behind the nativity we have, hovering over it like a big sphinx.
Lets just say I am well read
I did not list all that I read, just some. I am older female, no cooking here, no children around to take spots out of clothing, know how to keep my husband satisfied so no need to read that. You would be so lucky to have my life, don’t be a hater as my daughter says.
I was allowed to have guy friends stay overnight BUT -sm
they could not sleep in my room with me. They were welcome to crash on the couch. My parents knew I was having sex with them but it was their house and their rules. I never really had a problem with it and plan to do the same with my 2 girls.

was considered "same day" because I was discharged prior to 24 hours. I had my surgery on a Monday and returned to work on Wednesday. Every insurance company is different, check into your insurance very very well and have full knowledge of what they cover and what they don't. There are ALWAYS surgical complications that CAN occur, I have been fortunate and have had no complications.

Lets all get together and weep for this woman
You might have heard about the mother who had her young child write an essay to win Hanna Montana tickets- wrote that her father died this year in the service and the scam was found out. Now the mother that did this deed is on complaining that she has had to move from her apartment, cannot use her Mytube site, threats against her, etc., etc. Oh my heart just bleeds..... NOT.
Well lets see, I have worked for this same place now
for 18 years, the last 5 for a company and what raise?? I thought we just typed faster.
lets hear it for the boy -Survey

Okay, Christmas is next week.  Our guys....they burp, they change the channels on the TV faster than we can figure out what is on, and other too numerous to count obnoxious guy behaviors, but what is good about them?  What do we love about them?

As for me...in my darkest hour, he was my friend.

Merry Christmas!

Vaseline & socks overnight - not sexy but works nm
...
that is the scary thing - lets face it -
I have lived well over half my life and reading the obituaries (I have no idea why I do this) I see younger and younger people - 50s, early 60s - dying all the time.  What my daughter apparently doesn't realize is that I might not have 10 years left - actually she should - a 52-year-old woman that worked with her father-in-law recently collapsed at work - died later at hospital of AAA - very little symptoms.
But, lets bottom line this, being as married to the most powerful man in the US
I let her slide in her clothes, shoes, etc. She has a tall brother, therefore maybe her father tall, don’t know about her mother. She carries a lot of clout, no matter how she dresses, wears, her height, and on and on. Don’t hate on the First Lady.
Food safety question - left chicken in oven overnight (sm)
I baked two pans of chicken last night and one of them I forgot and left in the oven all night.  It has not been touched or opened since being cooked.  If I reheat it today do you think it is ok to eat or would you be afraid of food poisoning???
lets pray he gets the maximum time; piece of crap that he is.

My DH does all the cooking too! - sm
though we are not the most economical in the food buying, but he can do pretty amazing things with a chicken and is handy around the house besides. Great with electronics (works on electron microscopes for a living), any handyman-type chores, --granted can be a little lazy sometimes but so can I. We both do various home projects and have compliment each other in our abilities. I just hope the kids are as mechanically inclined as we are.

My husband is going bear hunting next weekend - how the heck do you cook bear???  (do you even cook bear or do you just make a rug or something)??
Cooking HELP!!
We went to a fundraiser dinner over the weekend that served dressing with cranberries in it.  My husband couldn't stop talking about it the rest of the weekend.  Does anyone have a recipe for this???
I want to know what she is cooking
too. Now I am so hungry. Shallots are yummy, especially. Shallots, mushrooms, butter and olive oil, some black pepper! I need a fork!
Me and my cooking
I have a candy thermometer that has both celsius and fahrenheit. I was making divinity and the recipie said to bring the syrup up to 260 dgrees fahhrenheit. I was looking at the wrong side of the thermometer, and went to 260 degrees Celsius!! Needless to say, the pan was ruined. I compounded the problem by setting the pan out in the hallway on the carpet because it was smoking, and it burned a hole right through the carpet!
No cooking!
Use whatever fruit you would like. Strawberries, cantelope, pineapple, grapes all work well. I have seen them done with gouda cheese as well. Just cut them up and stack them on skewers. Kids seem to like them, just have to watch if anyone gets the idea for a sword or poker. I would trim the pointy ends of the kabobs if kids will be around. Stand them upright in a tall vase or lay them flat on a platter. Can get or make a cream cheese or yogurt dip for them too which is nice. Also seen them with marshmellows for a sweet addition but I prefer them plain.

Homemade vegetable soup and cornbread
I did not ask him to do the cooking-
he knows that I don’t and he likes his health anyway. Works for us. I work and pay my share of bills so I think tit for TAT here.
Search on half.com or Amazon. Amazon lets you look inside some of them. Good luck! nm

Cooking chicken
I wound be reluctant to cook chicken on an indoor grill.  Pounding the chicken will help, but you really need to be careful about cross contamination.  Until you get a   feel for it, I would cook it on the grill to mark it, but finish it in the oven.  I also would marinate your chicken.  I love Soy Vey teriyaki marinade.  There are some excellent crock pot recipies that incorporate chicken breast.  I got a panni sandwich maker and those are excellent and easy.  Start off slowly, look at recipies and do what tastes good.  Eating out is definately not a habit you want to get your kids into.  Just really be careful with raw chicken.  When I pound chicken I use a plastic grocery bag.  I put the chicken in there and then pound it.  It saves on cleanup of splattered chicken and is more sanitary.  All Recipies is a great site, as well as BHG.com.  Good luck and have fun.
Well I'm sure she'd do the cooking if she felt up to it.
We can't decide for others when they are going to throw a party, though she seems to be thrusting one on you!

cooking/recipes
Is there a cooking or recipes board available - just curious.
I don't know either but the southern cooking
is the only thing I could think of ...like Louisiana....the bayou....that kind of south??? Have NO IDEA!
I have a cooking question sm

I just made a big pot of soup and I had to add carrots.  When I got my carrots out of the fridge they were a bit frozen.  I keep them in the vegetable bin and every now and then some of the things in my fridge will freeze.  Doesn't matter what the freezer or fridge settings are on.  It is a side by side.  Anyway, I went ahead and used the carrots and now that the soup is done the carrots are still tough.  All the other veggies cooked just fine.  I have made this soup before and this hasn't happened in the past.  Should I just toss the rest of the carrots.  I had planned on using them in with a pot roast tomorrow but don't want to waste my time peeling and slicing if they aren't going to be any good.  Anyone suggestions on this one? Thanks!

Cooking question

Any cooks out there: How much rigatoni, red potatoes and green beans would you need to make for 250 people?

Thanks

cooking question
Are these side dishes or in a salad? just a guess but on the potatoes and pasta, which are BOTH starch, cut back and go more with the green beans -- If this is a "potluck thing" take into consideration the other things that will be made etc.

Here again with the beans, fresh, canned or what too many variables -- if it is upcoming I would suggest calling your local school since they have to "feed mass quantities" just a thought
look up Sam the Cooking Guy on your TV listings (sm)
He does recipies just like what you are looking for, no muss, no fuss, regular grocery store ingredients.

and you will laugh alot. (We call him the Blueman Group of Cooking.)

check him out, he also has show/recipe segments on his web site.

Anyone cooking today?
It's cool out today and I thought I might put some ham and beans on to cook. I'll make some corn bread later to go with this too.
