Time. That's all it takes. I took in a recliner full of smoke and a few years later sm
looks brand new and smells like my own home now. It was really bad with smoke. Same with books. It just takes time. It will eventually go away. Unfortunately, nothing I know works for that without ruining the books.
DH and I are first time cat owners as of Christmas!

DH and I are first time cat owners as of Christmas! We love our Sophie, she is a great cat. Since we are new to this, I'm looking for some advise.

We are leaving on vacation on Feb 23rd for Ireland and I'm just wanting to make sure I have everything in place for Sophie. Please let me know if I'm missing anything.

MIL will visit every other day (maybe everyday!) for litter box cleanings and playtime. I'm going to leave out 2 litter boxes.

I'll leave out lots of food and water, MIL will refill.

Leave the TV or radio on for some noise.

She is around 2 years old so she is still quite playfull. She has lots of toys laying around.

So am I missing anything? I just don't want her to freak out, but I think she will be ok with the MIL visits.

Thanks!

Enjoy!!!

be thankful to have him around at Christmas time...
and try to overlook some of these things that bother you. My husband is in Iraq and I would give just about anything to have all of his annoying habits around for Christmas. Just a different perspective, but sometimes these things aren't as bad as we think. It is a little endearing that he is so excited at Christmas. Like a kid almost. :)

I'm having a hard time too - Charlie Brown's Christmas music has helped some (sm)
It hasn't been very cold around here...parade yesterday we were sweating. One thing that has helped me is I got the music CD from Charlie Brown's Christmas and have been listening to that and watched the little cartoon. That has always been one of my favorites. But I'm just not feeling it much either this year! I think the fact that the stores put the Christmas stuff out right after Halloween and sometimes before just makes it all seem like another day! And for me these days it just seems like a time of year where I have to spend money. Anyway, you're not alone :-)
What are people supposed to call Christmas Eve and Christmas Day now?? (nm)

It only takes once.. and it's too late

Children have been severely injured and decapitated by passenger side airbags even at low-speed accidents.  Google airbag, child, decapitation.  I wouldn't chance it even once.

Well, now that just takes care of everything
The g'mother said this lady has had trouble getting pregnant and thus the treatments? I mean, does the g'mother not realize that 6 is entirely too many and should have been on birth control rather than getting in vitro. This woman apparently smart in some ways as she has degree and said working towards masters but needs some real psychiatric check- I am obsessed with stromboli but I don’t have them 24/7. The g'mother recently filed for bankruptcy- well that takes away what the g'father said about being able to afford all, right? G'mother also stated when the mother got home from the hospital, "I will be gone." I would not be surprised to see some kind of intervention from the state here. I know not the reason but the state swooped in and got the kids in another state that were named after Hitler and some other cracked-up name, forgot the others, seemed bordering on KKK or something to that effect not sure though.
My husband never takes his off.
I never wear mine because my fingers swell. He has bought me 3 wedding rings over the years, different types, different sizes. It all depends how swollen my hands are as to which one I wear or whether I wear any of them.
Well, that sure takes care of everything
Just a yes, gonna take that and run with it.

So, it takes 32 years of training?

Which training method yielded results so quickly? (I'm nearing 16 years, I might need to refine my technique)

Does he get a diploma, or a certificate? Or a ribbon?

That takes some nerve in my opinion.
It is not like you have any say so in your son's graduation, and in my book that would be more important to me than my nephew's wedding. It if interferes with the wedding, so what. There is nothing you can do about it.
He takes his cellphone in the shower????

What the heck does he do for a living? If it does not require constant use of his cellphone, then no, you are not being paranoid!  Do you always hear him on his phone?  Does he make it a point for you NOT to hear him?

I don't know you, him, or the situation but something about this is bothering you to the point of putting out feelers here.  I would not let him know about your **paranoia** yet, but I would not let him move in permanently either.  You need to take some time to find out about this feeling you have.  Could be nothing, but you need to find out on your own before discussing it with him.

one way to find out, don't contact him, see how long it takes
maybe he does not want to hurt your feelings by saying helikes to hear from you; however, he is not contacting you, so stop contacting him and you'll get your answer.
that's the viral load - takes 2 weeks I think....sm

That's the one i was talking about - the hep C HCV-RNA....that's the viral load and as I recall, I think that's a 2-week test, but I could be wrong...(I am the one from the prior threat who has it and was posting with you last week and have this test yearly) - anyway - try to relax and perhaps the nurses/assistants don't even know this test takes 2 weeks IF THEY SENT IT FROZEN...I remember they couldn't do the test because it was not frozen.....at one point.  Now, when I go, I make sure to ask *does that go frozen or not?*

Good luck to you. It takes patience, but
you will have better credit. Some people think it's no big deal if their credit score or credit report is bad, but in this economy financial institutions are really cracking down on who money is lent to. I read that GMAC isn't financing anyone whose credit score is under 700 credit score and if they do, it will be at a horrible rate. It's only going to get worse too I'm sure. Long ago I was in your shoes, so I can relate. My DH and I have a credit score of over 800 now and believe me, it's worth it to have a good credit history, it just takes one day at a time.
My family takes pictures of the open
casket. When my dad was still living and someone was showing these pictures, he would go through and take them out for me because he knew I could not stand looking at them. When he died, my mom had pictures made and had a copy made for me. That was 12 yeras ago and to this day she still has those copies, I really don't want them. She even had us stand by the casket and had pictures made (her, my sister, and me).

...to conceive a child, unless you're the Virgin Mary 2000 years or so ago. Calling the young woman a sl*t, a very shaming label, just clouds the issue. And yes, adoption is a viable option if the girl and her parents are neither willing nor able to keep the baby, financially and emotionally. But it has to be their choice. I hate abortion, but that's not what we're talking about.....anyhow, shaming labels don't help the discussion. I'm too old to even remember having the natural and normal desires of youth, LOL, but these things happen. Even back in my day, some young couples, as we put it, "had to get married."
They resent anybody on aid, especially food stamps, and have no clue what it takes to get them.

it takes 3 weeks for a baby bird to learn to
We have to watch the dogs and cats really close until all the babies leave the yard and it is a long three weeks. Our babies usually hide in the pumpkin patch during flight school with mama guarding from the fence.

There "The Gift of the Magi," He sells his gold watch to buy her a comb for her hair and she sells her beautiful long hair to buy him a chain for his gold watch. It used to be on "Short Stories by O'Henry" but that's long gone, long ago. Good moral to the story. I can't stand "It's a Wonderful Life" -- too depressing, especially with banks closing, too intimidating right now!!!
My husband usually gets a 12,000 bonus every year in March and then takes home around 7 or 8. It IS
sickening - that the Govt. gets that much out of taxes. I hate it. WE are standing behind the Fair Tax for this very reason. Somethings gottah happen. Remember the Boston Tea Party? This govt is just out of control in its spendind. 39% How is one supposed to live when we only bring home 70% of our actual pay? Doesn't that anger some of you?????????????????????????????????????????

something will definitely evolve. If you like him, flirt back! Don't act desperate because if he DOES like you, then the suspense will just make him want to get to know you more. Trust me on this.

I worked in the medical records department of a hospital when I was single and dated a few co-workers in my early 30s. It was fun. Nothing serious came about any of the relationships.

This sounds like fun - the beginning of maybe something to come....Keep us informed.
Totally agree, get these from time to time since teens...sm
It's a neuro condition, it does not mean there is anything at all wrong with you, it is actually related to narcolepsy, hypnagogic (sp? I just got up!) hallucinations, etc. And I HATE when I get these, it is always freaky, my siblings get this too, at times. I can "go away" for years and years before you get another episodes, so don't worry! I heard that when you are under a lot of stress or are very busy with things that this happens more??? Take care!!

My grandmother (who passed away at the young age of 107 back in the mid 1990s) was STILL celebrating every little holiday for all of her many kids and grandkids, and she would STILL give me a chocolate bunny every Easter, as she had since I was a toddler and even though I was 40ish at the time (and I still delighted in biting its head off in front of her, as I had also done since I was a toddler, which always met with mock disapproval from her).

Don't let anyone dampen your joy in celebrating your traditions.

Rachael Ray has a segment from time to time
on using the bottom of the bottle receipes (i.e. bar-be-q sauce, peanut butter, maple syrup) and I have used many of her ideas and been amazed at how far you can stretch a dollar that way. Go to her website, it will give you many ideas.
Oh Amy, surely there was a man who "kept" you from time to time..
or you were at least married and had access to money!
It was a great time - I just hate the time we are in now
I liked your post. Thanks for replying It's nice to know other people were raised like me. We seem to appreciate the things we have. Oh I should've also said we didn't have A/C growing up. My parents idea of A/C was having my sister and I wave a piece of cardboard in front of them. HA HA HA.

I just couldn't stand the 90s and 2000s are even worse. I hate all the politics going on today, the world events, the bleak future. The degenerates running around, listening to kids talk back to their parents, girls gone wild, etc, etc. I'm grateful my grandparents and mom are not alive anymore to have to go through this with us.

I love watching old movies and the music of the 40s/50s. If I was alive back then I would've been doing the jitterbug and all those other fun dances. Life seemed simpler and cleaner (even though I've got a mouth like a sailer - guess I got that from my Army days).

I wouldn't mind the turn of the century either. I love the clothing and the simple life. Those are the times when the husband took care of the wife. If I could be transported back to the 1800s I surely would in a second.
Christmas
We are doing Chistmas a little different this year and I don't know if I like it.  We are each taking $300 and buying stuff for ourselves and boxing it up.  No one knows what the others bought themselves.  Then the rest of us will all pitch in $50 and buy a gift to the others.  Kinda confusing if you ask me! But it will be fun!  Think it might be even less expensive than usual.   Happy weekend~!

MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!!!!

I did mean to capitalize Christmas! Again, Merry, Merry Christmas to everyone!
Christmas

I truly want to wish every single poster a Merry Christmas.

My want list for Christmas:

I want to recognize the Christ in Christmas as well as the fun of holiday celebration and cheer through many venues.

I want to be mindful of every human being that has less than I do, for there are many.  I am the most blessed person I know:

I want to be thankful that my family is all with me, intact, in communication (hahaha), not estranged, and loving/enjoying being together.

I want to be grateful that I am gainfully employed and have other options if I so choose.

I want to celebrate that I have my health intact.

I want to live respectfully toward others because I live in a country that provides protection and security for me and others, God bless and save them, are willing to make the sacrifice to provide it for me.

Most of all, I want every person who feels lost, isolated, alone, left out that you are not alone. Just know that He is mindful of you.  I know - not believe, but know - that God knows exactly who I am and where I am going and He will take care of me.  I want you to know that, too.

Merry Christmas to each one of you and yours ...

Busy MT'ing

This is one sad Christmas.
One relative dying, another quite ill, but hanging in there, and now we have run very low on less scary diagnoses for my dog, and we suspect she has a brain tumor. Vet school is working her up, which I appreciate, and thank goodness I have another dog so the house isn't too quiet. But this rainy weather should quit so I could at least walk my healthy dog and feel a little better, not to mention what it's doing to anybody who needs to make Christmas travel plans, or in our case, probable funeral travel plans.

Sigh.

Sad Christmas
I'm sorry you are feeling sad, I can sympathize.  This is the first year in a LONG time I will be alone on Christmas morning, between having my own children with me and then my grandchildren - oops, just got reminded I won't be totally alone - I have a little kitten, and she just jumped on my back!  I'm sorry your pet is ill, they can certainly be a great comfort to us - I've only had this kitten two weeks, but already very attached to her.  Also, I realize none of us who are believers are ever really alone.
All I want for Christmas is
Some good dictators this morning. Gosh, told them I would give a few hours this morning but why 1 bad dictator after another? Please, just this wish??? Don’t really want that much.
