we're in a small town/village, where folks aren't afraid to let their kids have homemade halloween treats -- i did carmel corn one year, and a trail mix another that were a big hits -- any other easy goodie ideas you'll share?  (don't really want to do the apples).  thanks.

when I get up in the morning and sit down at my desk my five cats come and gather around me, they each get 8 treats (probably too many) and then they don't get anymore that day, that is the one time only, they know that and they do not ask for any more until the next morning.

Beefy Dog Treats Recipe

I don't have any dogs, but I came across this recipe and thought it appropriate for the season for dog lovers.  Here goes....

1 package (1/4 oz) active dry yeast

1/4 cup war water (110-115 degrees)

1 tsp beef bouillon grnules

2 tbsp boiling water

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 c nonfat dry milk powder

1 c whole wheat flour

1 c cooked long grain rice

1 envelope unflavored gelatin

1 jar (4 oz) vegetable beef dinner baby food

1 egg

2 tbsp veg oil

In a small bowl, dissovle yeast in warm water.  In another small bowl, dissolve ouillon in boiling water.  In a large bowl, combine the all-purose flour, milk powder, wheat flour, rice and gelatin.  Stir in the baby food, egg, oil, yeast mixture and bouillon mixture until combined; knead until mixture forms a ball.

Turn onto a lightly floured surface, roll to 1/2 in thickness.  Cut with a floured 2 in bone-shaped cookie cutter.  Pleace 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 300 degrees for 25-30 min or until set.  REmove to wire racks to cool.  Let stand for 24 hours or until hardened.  Store in an airtight container.  Yield:  About 3 dozen.

P/S:  Don't mix them up with your cookie exchange for peeps!!!!
