I'd still send pictures, etc., especially to your grandparents. Good luck!

short arms, short-term memory loss...
I too suffer from Short Arm Syndrome. Add to that the short-term memory loss that middle-age brings and I have now discovered I need to lasso the &*%$ reading glasses around my neck or my day will be spent wandering in circles asking the dog where my glasses are.

I have two pairs, per advice of doctor. I do not wear glasses all the time, so he thought I was not ready for bifocals. My son gave me a wonderful eyeglass case for Christmas that is big enough to hold both pairs should I ever venture out of the house amongst the living.

I did manage to find some "sporty" looking around-the-neck-eye glass holder thingies - what DO you call those things? I'd use twine before getting those multicolored beaded ones. I have a neon coral one and an emerald green one. Too bad I can't find the former, I can't remember where I put it.
Definitely short ones
I love in Fridays when my doc does all his patients that were tested for allergies that week.
Short. Not in the least bit Jewish.

My hair is very short right now.
Short layers and all I have to do is spray a little hairspray on it and run my fingers through it and I'm good to go.  It has gotten much thicker over the years and hair color has helped with that too.  I hate that I have to color my hair, though.  I started going gray almost 20 years ago and I just turned 40.    At some point, I will bite the bullet and let the color grow out, but haven't gotten there yet.  Not ready to be totally gray.
My hair is short
When it starts to get even a little long, I have to go out and get it cut. I don't like the way my hair or the way I look when it gets too long. I just put some gel in it and go. The only thing I don't like is that it can get dry in the sun. I've been dying my hair for about five years or so (46 now). I won't let it go gray, but that's just me. My daughter is only 4 so I feel I would look like her grandmother if I let it go gray.
My 8 y/o is a size 5, but she's SHORT...
for her age! I really hope she grows into her feet soon, looks like she has clown feet :) She's only 4 ft 3 in., but has some of the biggest feet for her age.
I have only seen short segments
as I am flipping through channels and man, is that show filthy!  Is the story line that good?
Long and short of it -
While I can appreciate his desire to stop spending so much time in his car, I think the solution he is suggesting would only be very good in the short term at the most. The reality is you all probably need to sell your house and move closer to his job.
I always wanted to be short in HS, like
most of our little cheerleaders were. Now I see my height as an advantage, and i have to admit that even my freakishly long arms do come in handy. Funny how priorities change ...
My dad short-tempered and
was always yelling and pounding tables and children about the dumbest things, and mom was cold, bored and depressed, so it's hard to say.

It's so hard to shop for Mother's & Father's Day cards!
for short people
why is it the one item i need is on the very top shelf so far back i cannot reach it?

Life is too short
Unfortunately, life is actually way too long to be very, very poor, old and alone, and if you can't get along with anyone when you are young, you are not going to be that hot of a catch at the nursing home.
my short list
Milk
Liver
Okra
Tofu
Indian food
Thai food
Sushi

my short list sm
Lima beans
soft-cooked eggs (where the yolks are too runny and the whites aren't quite firm - and forget any with the shell accidentally left in)
fishy-tasting fish
Chicken/turkey liver (beef and deer is okay)
raw onions
big gobs of mayonnaise (a little in salad is okay)
tuna without celery.

I did it about 3 years ago for a short while.

I quit because it was too much of a hassle.  I had to buy the magazines, brochures, samples every 2 weeks plus get orders in every 2 weeks, plus I had to deliver with baby in tow, but you could have them pick their orders up at your house but with so many reps in this area, I had to be competitive.    My friend I buy Avon from was having problems the company not sending the right orders, getting things mixed up etc etc.  It is just a mess for her so she dropped it.

The pro side of it was that when I sold Avon I got pretty good bargains being a rep.  They send a What's New brochure every 2 weeks.  There are people here that order merchandise and open their own store and sell it that way.  I don't know if they are making profit or not.   I do think the real money is in recruiting people to sell like other MLMs.  It really doesn't make sense to me to do things that way though.  It would be like having a shoe store selling Nike's on every corner.  Just doesn't make sense.

I don't even know what that is... lived in CA, AZ, OR
and Nevada.  Never heard of scrapple.
:) Thanks! LOL--I wish you lived near me too...SM

We live in Nebraska.

My idea of shopping is Walmart, Target, and K-Mart.  It worked while my boys were young, but now that they're getting older I guess I'll hafta dig deeper in the pocketbook and shop at stores in the mall.  Thanks for the link! :)

I wish I lived
close enough to a beach to go every day, but then again, I probably would NEVER work!
You see, I have never lived by
myself.  I went straight from home, to the college dorm, to my grandma's for the summer, then I got married.  I never got to be on my own.  I think everybody should have that opportunity.  I think it would have changed me in lots of ways.
If you are going to be in the house such a short time sm
You will build up almost NO equity with a 40-year mortgage, and may have to sell it at a loss. Something to consider....
okay - found it - short story
this year it is too late.  They are in the house for the winter and laying next year's crop in your attic - supposed to spray outside the house eaves and foundation included in the fall to prevent any new ones.
Life is short. Who knows what could happen? Go for it! NM

Short story about ATVs

A woman I know was riding one with her 2 y/o grandson.  She was turning on the 4-wheeler when it kicked into high gear and wouldn't slow down.  They were heading right for a tree. Basically she had to jump off while holding onto her 2 y/o grandson. The 4-wheeler then ran into a tree and did some major damage.  Thankfully, no one was hurt and she did the right thing by jumping, but still.  They found out that whoever had put the 4-wheeler together before they bought it had done something wrong and when she turned it caused a wire to do something weird and it made it go fast and wouldn't brake.  I can't remember exactly what they said happened, but if she hadn't jumped, she would have run right into a tree at full speed with her 2 y/o grandson.

Also, there was a young kid....about 5 or 6....who was killed about a month ago on an ATV.  His older brother was driving and something happened and the kid hit his head and was killed.  Had he had a helmet on, he probably would have lived.

When my stepson has a friend over, we always ask the parent's permission before we allow them to ride our 4-wheelers and we always make sure they have on a helmet.  Asking permission is just common courtesy.

OMG Yes!!!!! It's a conspiracy against short people!

I get so aggravated!  And then it never fails you go looking for someone who can help you or has a ladder and no one is EVER working on the floor!  At Wal-Mart, I've grabbed one of those ladders they have hanging on posts throughout the store and climbed up myself to get something of the top shelf.  THEN an employee appears and tells me I can't do that because it's a liability to the store.  I said, "then you need to be out here doing you job so I don't have to!"

Man, being short sucks!

Life is too short to be married
to someone I am unhappy with and especially, not in love with. I would not cheat but would be honest about my feelings and get out of the marriage. Before acting on anything, I would make sure I was divorced as should he. People will get hurt unfortunately, but I could never stay in a marriage knowing I loved someone else or I was unhappy. Life is too short and goes by too quickly. I want no regrets.

People will not like this answer but it's how I feel.
but short on compassion and caring.
x
Life is short and you only get one go-round.
Is this what you wanted out of life? No marriage is perfect, but being faithful is a basic requirement, not to mention the deadly diseases out there. That's all I'll say other than to add, you're much stronger than I am & I hope it all works out for you & you find happiness & peace, one way or the other.
I bite my nails, so I get them done short..
they are really not too long, but look better than when I have chewed them all off. Terrible habit, I know, but a very difficult one to break. I quit smoking and didn't really think it was that hard, but I just cannot stop chewing my nails!
cute short clip
Upon looking up dysphagia today (yes I know that's pretty simple, but I always have brain freeze with phagia and phasia (especially when they mean phagia but pronounce it with the "s" sound).

Anyway, I came across this cute little film short. It's 16 minutes long but was cute and wanted to share it.

Not to mention I love the actor Stephen Rea.

But I'm short, stocky, and heavyset, so....sm
It's all relative. And my legs are too thick to know whether I'm bowlegged or not. :D :D

In my younger days, I would have sold my two front teeth to have a figure approximating Michelle's. To be slender and willowy, any height, was my wildest fantasy. These days, I'm just glad to be able to walk, run, and jump, forget about the looks part....:D
In my day, no vaccine. We all got it. We all lived.
At least now he will be immune.  Hope you had hubby don't come down, too, but if so, it doesn't last forever.  Just keep him away from others while contagious.  And don't let him scratch!
When I lived in Colombia....
no one printed anything for me in English. Their country, their language, respect their ways. Those who come here should do the same - our country, our langauge, our ways. If you want to speak Spanish, go back across the border.

We speak English here precisely we were all originally from somewhere else.

The "We were all immigrants" argument is inane. Any country can say that. Mexicans were not originally from Mexico except for the Indians, who are extremely underprivileged and discriminated against by the Mexican government and the majority of Mexicans. Within the Latino culture, there is plenty of discrimination and prejudice - the lighter the skin and hair color, the higher the prestige. Latin American countries look down on the Caribbena and Mexico, etc.

Prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination are not just a white-black issue.

Why is that the Vietnamese and Koreans and other Asian groups come here, learn a new alphabet and many times will learn both Spanish and English in order to do business, but the Spanish speakers come here and demand everything be done to accommodate them?

It don't want to be Americans, they should stay home. If they want to adopt the American culture, come on over - legally.
lived with us for a year.
by the time she moved out, no one would talk at the dinner table. my husband & I would go outside to talk. not good. hopefully your mil will be able to get some friends.
She has lived with us for 2-3/4 years so she...sm
knows all of the family line. We have been told that the judge that is finalizing the adoption spends a lot of time hanging out with a child that is old enough to talk with him at the time of adoption so she's looking forward to that. We've got the camera ready to go with a new battery and lots of memory on the memory card for the photos.

I have made an appointment to get her portrait made and the place we're doing that can create some adoption announcement cards for us with her picture and information on it to send out to people.

I like the tree idea - thanks for that one! Hopefully I could keep it growing! :o)
I grew up and lived in PA

until I made a few moves down south a few years back and moved to Ohio a year ago.  I am about 45 minutes now from my hometown in PA, but my hometown in PA is just 45 minutes away from Pittsburgh.  We could be close enough to be neighbors!

I wish I lived right next door to
help you with your project. That's my kind of fun. :oD I wuv a good rottie. Can't imagine playing with 3 of them.
How about: If I lived here, I'd be the cook!

Looks beautiful! WIsh I lived there. NM

Did your parents help? I lived on my own but (sm)
it was because my stepfather did not want me there.  I worked a full time and a part time job and tried to put myself through college.  It took me years just to get an associate degree.  If I had had help from my parents it would have been so much easier.  It was very difficult as an 18-year-old to earn enough money to take care of myself.
I wished you lived near me...sm
So that you could meet my big baby and get to know him. I promise you would say this is no pit bull. My mom was scared to death when I got him that he would grow up and be this mean vicious killer. Well now she loves him to death. My father-in-law was against us having a pit. Now he says he ain't nothing but a baby. Some may be mean. But I am telling you mine is not mean. UNLESS he feels threatened or his family is threatened. Just a while ago a friend of my husbands was over here and CJ was just head set on getting up in his lap. CJ weighs about 70 pounds and he thinks he can sit in your lap. Lots of people say he isn't a pit is he? I say yes but he is a nice pit. Some are mean, some are not. It depends on the dog and a lot of how it is raised. This dog has been babied like a child from the time I got him. When he was 3 months old I got him and routinely rocked him in my recliner. Now he is just this huge baby.
We lived 2 blocks away from each other
I knew him in high school. He was the 'much older' Senior and I the lowly Sophomore. I had a crush on him, we'd ride with a group of boys & girls to away football games & he was always very nice to me. My older brother and his older brother were in the same class & had been good friends for years.

DH graduated & then two weeks before my senior year was to start, my now BIL came over to our house, after he returned from the Marines, to see if my brother was home. He wasn't but we talked for a few minutes. Then furture BIL went back to his home and told DH....you need to call Renee.

The rest is history.

We dated during my senior year and we went to all the dances. It was a great year and I have a box full of silly bids from dances, pictures and fun times! That was some 42 years ago now...LOL.

when i lived in the south, they said
i had a 'northern' accent. I'm born/raised Californian. When we moved to midwest, teased kids for having southern accent. however, when my husband used to work all over the country 40 yr ago, he could tell almost exactly where someone was from, hearing them talk a bit. With all the travel/moving around now, accents are there, but not nearly as identifiable, and ofttimes a mixture ...
never lived there but visited.
I love it. So jealous of you. Good luck!!
I lived there and HATED it!
There is nothing to do in North Carolina. The BIG event in Raleigh is the weekly Farmer's Market. The lakes are ugly, manmade bowl-like things. The police are out of control in that part of the country.

You could not PAY me to live in North Carolina again. At least not near Raleigh. Charlotte and the Mountain area are nice, but for the middle of the state? YUCK!!!
Twice so far in 11 years we have lived here - sm
Once when I lived at home years ago, boss got me out. I was excused the two times here as my kids were little and still at home, and no babysitter. My husband got called a few months ago, first time, no clue what he did with the papers or exactly what they said, I think he just blew it off, but no one has ever come to get him if that was the case.
The man who lived across the street.
We lived in cul-de-sac of 10 homes. The whole neighborhood knew each other. This man thought he was the boss of everyone, told everyone how to raise their kids, keep their yards, take care of their pets. He was physically and verbally abusive to his wife and kids. He was absolutely awful.

Someone called me one day to say that man had liver cancer and had less than 6 months to live. I thought couldn't have happened to a nicer person. He died on New Year's Day 2004 and as we watched the ambulance leave his house with his body in it, everyone (including his family) gave a sigh of relief. Only 6 people attended the funeral. Isn't it horrible to think that way about someone? He was only 52.
19-weeks pregnant, short femur
Thanks for the thoughts.. I will update on Tuesday
Two months is quite a short amount of time....
You need to take your time and keep YOUR options open! You may meet Mr. Right while you're seeing this guy. In two months, you probably don't even know his favorite color yet. Don't rush these things. If he is the one, he will figure it out and not want to see anyone else. Good luck! I hope this works out for you.
Me either...31 years now! Life's too short to be uncomfy!
