My miniature pincer will be 5 years old this December.  We got her at about 8 weeks of age.  She is loving to my husband and I, but she will growl and sometimes even bite our 12 and 7-year-old children, not bring-the-blood bite, but still bites and growls and shows teeth viciously.  Having said that, she will actually growl at my husband or me if we try to pick her up if she's comfortable (i.e., if she's in the way and we need to move her to sit down).  I didn't realize they were such an aggressive breed when we got her.  She is also very protective of her food bowl and doesn't want anyone around when she's eating.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Are these bad habits breakable at this time?  I wish I could get the Dog Whisperer here!!
