In Reply to: Credit card Washington Mutual/Providian - ina frenzy

I ALWAYS look at the interest rate on a CC before even applying. If it is more than 8 percent, it goes in the garbage. You should have checked prior to even obtaining the card. I highly doubt that the new card interest rates changed and even if they did, there should have been some documentation along with it stating this. If it were me, I would cancel the account immediately, even if I owed an amount on it. If I did owe an amount on it, I would probably check into a different account with a different CC to transfer the balance, and then close the original account. I hate credit cards! But you should have been more vigilant about knowing the interest rates prior to even obtaining it. good luck to you.
