My sister and I thank you all for all the good advice and for just "listening." The comment about the sugar rush is very interesting, and it sounds like it could very well be her.

She is so lonely and desperately wants a companion, and the fact that she really believes these guys are who they say they are constantly keeps us worried. We feel online isn't the place for her to find a companion. I know there are lots of people who do find the right one online, but mom just doesn't do enough screening. She takes the first one that compliments her and decides "this is the one." She lives alone and I am afraid for her because she is so willing to give her address to these predators, because she just doesn't believe they are predators.

And of course, as one poster noted, it IS her life and she IS 70 years old, and my sister and I did abide by that for awhile, but when the guy who portrayed himself as going on a business trip to Africa asked for money, that's when we felt like we couldn't just sit idly by. My mom still has not removed this man from her buddy list. We are very upset about this, because this just proves to us that she does not believe there are crooks on these online dating services.

We have begged her to go to grief counseling, go play bingo which she used to love to do but doesn't do anymore, and I have begged her to come stay with me for however long she wants, but she refuses to do any of this. She just recently has started going to a very small little get together every Saturday night where they have live music and dancing, and she thoroughly enjoys herself. So this is a start. She usually takes my niece or other sister with her when she goes. She has a great time. She's actually met a couple of older women there too, but they don't do anything together outside of that dance meet.

I did find that Dr. Phil episode. It's called Love Scams and it aired on 11/23/06. It costs $29.95 to purchase the video and transcript. I wonder if my mom will watch it, but we won't know until we try.

Again, thanks for the advice. We appreciate any and all. Keep it coming.
