If someone does not know what a 65 charater line is, they are very new to this and so perhaps this is a small MTSO who is taking someone under their wing to try and teach them about this business.  The MTSO might be getting 10 to 11 cents per line and doing a marjority of the work, taking the time to QA and teach this person.  If this person can type pretty good.i.e. 150 lines per hour, then though $9.00 isn't that great think of it as being paid to go to school.   And especially if she is working at home.  Now if she is an experienced MT, then I agree it is not good pay but then she would also know what a 65 character line is.   But we do not know the entire story.
