While working in the hospital, in the back of our office were huge refrigerator sized reels of tape, about six of them.  When a priority job came in, there would be the most irritating, I can't even describe it, it was not a honk it was somewhere between a honk and someone hitting a gong.  It had to be loud because it was noisy in there with these huge reels running and all those IBMs running.  When those priorities came in and that sound was made, you would actually jump a little out of your chair.
