Be Wary

I used to work in forensics and this is something that is done to scope out your house and locks, what is in your garage, etc. His excuse was that he is a "salesman" and he may be one of those too, but this reeks. I saw where someone said to notify the police and neighbors and that is right on. I would also get new significant locks on my door to the interior of the house, my front and back door. If you can, get a camera system that will record all activity around your doors and windows. Put up "alarm company signs" on your windows. Legitimate insurance salesmen do NOT invade private property to make a sale. Be careful and good luck.

Be very VERY wary...

of where you spend your money on schooling.  Many community colleges have people teaching transcription who have never transcribed a word in their lives, they're usually computer teachers.  You cannot even begin to learn this job, starting from scratch with no terminology knowledge in 5 months.  I was a nurse and had taken medical terminology and with my mother (who is an MT) answering my phone calls to listen to a word 800 times a day, it took me TWO YEARS to be any kind of proficient at this job.

Not to discourage, but to inform, it not only take vast knowledge of all the body systems and the Latin based terminology that goes with it, you have to develop the coordination to push on a foot pedal and listen to something that you are typing at the same time you are taking in and retaining the words that you are GOING to type after you finish typing what you started typing.  Sounds confusing, but it's a rhythm and a coordination that you have to develop.  And last but not least, depending on where you live, you've got a huge percentage of doctors who are foreigners with heavy accents.  Add to the foreigners, the speed demon Americans, and the mush mouths and gum chewers and all the rest in between, and you'll know what I mean by developing an ear too.  It's not impossible, but is certainly not the add water and mix instant stay-at-home with your kids career.  Oh yea, that's the other thing.. Working at home with kids is another whole story.

Point being that i checked and they lied so be wary.
