Curves?

I need to get into an exercise program and have failed to do so on my own.  Now I realize I need the support and structure of a gym.  I have an appointment to "tour" Curves on Sat. morning.

Anyone have any experience with this place?  I would appreciate feedback.  TIA.

Curves

If you are just getting started on an exercise program, this is an excellent choice.  It is a great way to spend some time with other new people, laugh, and get some exercise in.  Truth be said, I hate to exercise, but I actually look forward to my time at Curves.

Curves

I've been a member of Curves for almost 2 years.  I love love love it!  I live in a small town where there' s not much going on, and I've met a lot of people there.  It's my socialization time!  I also have lost over 30 pounds and am in the best shape of my life (I'll be 47 next week).  You get out of it what you put into it.  If you don't watch what you eat and go to Curves AT LEAST 3 times a week EVERY week, you won't be successful.  It takes discipline, just like anything else.

Anyone go to Curves??? - sm
My neighbor just joined Curves and wants me to go with her.  She has about 50 pounds to lose, and I have 70-80 (the price of MT and not eating well) pounds to lose.  I have a diet plan all laid out though have not gotten myself into the right mind set as of yet, though I have stopped grazing and snacking late at night. So what I want to know is if you go to Curves has it been helpful for you.  I know the drill about the place and everything.  I think it would be good since we plan to go together right after our kids get on the school bus, we can carpool and save on gas, as well as be each other cheerleader.  So anyone successful with this?
I think Curves is awesome!

The support and the women-only atmosphere make it a great alternative to a regular gym.

Have fun!

Join Curves or a gym...really

I have found that if I get up in the morning and go to Curves on a regular basis after I send my kids off to school, I have the chance to interact with people, get some exercise, and even make some good girlfriends because you are all there at the same time every day or every other day.  You feel good by the time you get home, take a shower and sit down to work.  I've also found church to be a huge outlet as well as getting involved with community events (i.e. volunteering) to be very rewarding.  You have to make your life, it does not come to you.  Hang in there, this is a great job to have, don't give it up for that reason, you can really make the isolation a non-issue.  Best Wishes

I go do Curves, cost $29/month sm
I also agree with Sherry.  You definitely need to walk along with going to Curves.  I think walking helps sheds the pounds and Curves helps tone.  Have lost 15 pounds since May.  Good luck!  Oh and the BUDDY system works very well too.
Curves is great if you're just starting out
it becomes very easy very quickly and not much of a challenge, and then it's time to move on to a faster paced, more challenging fitness program.

It's a great start though if you've been out of the fitness world for a long time!
I go to Changes, which is the same thing basically as Curves and I could tell soon after starting
and I felt better.  I believe you still have to walk or some other type of exercise and diet.  I lost 12 pounds the first month.  The reason I joined is because I do not want to lose a lot of weight and still look terrible.  The BUDDY system is the way to go with diet and exercise!!
I'm thinking about starting Curves again. I used to go but had to have surgery on my ankle and

just never started back up again.  I was thinking when the kids start school, I might start going right after the leavein the morning.  I don't start work until 10 a.m.  I loved it the first time around.  I get bored really easy and so constantly switching machines and moving around really appealed to me.  I lost about 20 pounds the first time, but then I gained it all back and then some after my surgery cause I had to be off my feet for about two months and then of course my VERY sedentary job as an MT.

We should get buddy system going on here where we encourage each other and stuff.  Cause I don't have any real life buddies to go with me.  When you work at home, you're sort of isolated.  Plus I just moved to a new place and only know my sister and she is a full-time RN with a very crazy schedule and loooooong hours.
