Disturbed...

I have been reading the posts on MT Stars for several months now.  I have read the ones on the main board and the ones on the Newbie board.  Being a newbie myself, I have even posted a time or two.  I am bothered a little by what I'm reading.  A lot of posters forget that people are asking for help.  They are not asking to be made to feel like less of a human being, they are not asking to be lectured, and most of all, they are not asking for someone to be outright rude to them.

Not everyone knows everything.  I just feel like some of the posters who reply should try to remember what is was like to be in that persons shoes before you comment.  I know everyone gets frustrated from time to time, but when someone is down and out, scared about a problem they are having, or looking for someone to lean on, you only make it worse by being mean.

These boards were created for us to help one another.  No one else is willing to help us sometimes, and it is nice to have a fellow MT to talk to sometimes, ask advice from, or even vent to occasionally.  One of the rules of being an MT, I thought, was to be professional and compassionate.  That is what makes us who we are.  Lately, I am not seeing either of the components in a lot of these postings, and that really breaks my heart.  How can you transcribe to the best of your ability, when you can't even feel compassion for your fellow MT's?  It's just something that has been bothering me.

I have been called cranky but it is because I can't be disturbed
even for a few minutes. I get irritated when I tell people that I am working and they look at me like, "yeah, right!!!" I end up being abrupt when talking. My office is by my front door and if someone comes to my door, I answer through the window. I have thought about a note saying "no solicitors." I rarely answer the phone unless I hear my supervisor or the voice of my QA person. I can't afford to stop and talk or make an error because I was in the middle of a report and stopped, then started only to make a mistake (it happens to me more often then than any other time).
